There are many questions but to voice just a few- Those who practice Shugden may not go near Dalai Lama's teachings. But what about those who do not agree or are not even Buddhist at all. But they are allowed to join in to observe, watch, maybe just listen and not believe. How come everyone else is allowed to join except Dorje Shugden practitioners.

In the US and many other free countries in the world, there are many religions, variations of religions and even modern day witches/druids who do worship elemental spirits. They are allowed to the teachings. Why? Why is it out of everyone that are on this planet Dorje Shugden is the 'worst' 'spirit' of all? Why is he prejudiced or targeted the most. Why are his practitioners so heavily discriminated everywhere by Dalai Lama and now in free America also? Why do Americans 'allow' it?

Why can't all those who practice Shugden, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Satanism, atheists, Druids, Shinto, Bon, Taoists, etc, etc all join in for Dalai Lama's talks. Why can't there be universal tolerance, love and acceptance of all faiths by Dalai Lama? Even if hypothetically Shugden worship is so bad, is it not all the more important to include them in the talks to 'educate' them by showing compassion,love and knowledge so maybe they will give up eventually? Ostracizing them by Dalai Lama, the man of peace and tolerance does not seem right at all. Doesn't seem that of a religious leader for the 21st Century of tolerance and acceptance. I do not wish to criticize Dalai Lama in any form, but voicing my views only. I do apologize if it seems harsh.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama mentioned 13th Dalai Lama also discouraged the practice of Shugden. But 13th Dalai Lama did not ban it in Tibet and it flourished because many can see the benefits. It was impossible for 13th Dalai Lama to ban as there were too many great and powerful high lamas who practices and they could easily debate the issue.

The 5th Dalai Lama's assistants killed the monk who became the powerful being Shugden. The 5th Dalai Lama regretted the action and to atone, wrote a prayer. Built a temple in Lhasa dedicated to Shugden. All this can be see today.

The information on the speech is not covering the whole real issue. For the casual listener, the speech sounds so simple and easy.

Anyone else get a sick feeling in the pit of their stomach as wild applause rang out at the end? So many good and wise people, seemingly brainwashed as they cheer a speech which trashes and tramples on the faith of others. Honestly, this must stop!

The applause after the talk was very disturbing. So many educated people living in US going along with everything that is wrong about the ban. Americans founded the country on the basis of freedom of worship among other freedoms they have held most dear. So how can they go along with this?

It appears that American students of His Holiness are followers like sheep without much question or deeper thought. What you said thaimonk about Freedom of religion is true... seems like American who are pro Dalai Lama have forgotten that equanimity. And speaking of equanimity... isn't Buddhism based on this?

Actually instead of shunning away Dorje Shugden practitioners, a better strategy would be to welcome them and slowly educate to change their minds??? I think this cannot happened because they know they will never win in changing our minds, cause truth is truth... Dorje Shugden is not a "spirit" but Manjushri... and so how cannot change DS practitioners' minds for sure.

So how does going for his teachings/initiations breaks HH vows that leads back up all the way the 5th Dalai Lama? When all HH learnt and is teaching us today all came from great masters that practices Dorje Shugden... hence we can say that HH teachings is tainted and will never bare results/attainments? It all sounds very illogical.

I would actually choose the middle way and think that actually His Holiness has His own reasons of doing this, we are not as attained as His Holiness is, we will never understand His purposes and plans unless we are, which most of us are not. That is why we never see high lamas speaking against His Holiness, because they have faith in Him and the Protector whereas most of the laymen or normal people like us would defame His Holiness because they do not understand His action and the purpose His Holiness serves.
