Looking at the track record of Pabongka Rinpoche, it can be said that he is instrumental for the survival of Tibetan Buddhism in the world today.  Being the root Guru of Ling Rinpoche, Trijang Rinpoche, Seramey Kensur Lobsang Tharchin and many other great lamas who in turn are root Lamas to most of the great Lamas in the Gelugpa tradition including the Dalai Lama himself who are spreading Tibetan Buddhism far and wide in the world today, it is evident that Pabongka Rinpoche must have very high attainments.  Say and criticize what they want about Pabongka Rinpoche, there is simply no comparison to the results he has achieved.  In this case, since he is a devoted Dorje Shugden practitioner, then Dorje Shugden must be extremely powerful. 

Right on!

And if Lamrim as taught by Pabongka Rinpoche is studied by so many throughout without any doubts and relied on as the path towards enlightenment, then why doubt who Pabongka prays to, in this case Dorje Shugden!

The title says it all really... It is, from a spiritual standpoint, where we all came from, similar to our biological make up. A pure lineage is very important as it can be traced from the times we live in now right back to the times of Buddha Shakyamuni. How incredible is that? And what I find disgraceful is how some so call Buddhist lack the very principles and moral character that befits a practitioner by simply putting down the masters that define that very lineage that in turn defines them for the sake of looking good or fitting in. It seems to me very much like the phrase "to cut off your nose to spite your face".

Those who try to destroy Pabongka Rinpoche's reputation and those believe them - WAKE UP and be LOGICAL!

Pabongka Rinpoche was, is and always will be, great Buddhist Master, he had done so much valuable works in the history of Buddhism and the most important text 'Lamrim' would not be in circulation had he not given the monumental 24-day discourse back then.

And people with ill-intentions are wasting their time and effort trying to destroy this great master based on his practice of dharmapala Dorje Shugden?? How silly can this be?

How complicated. You could have the merits to be near Dharma, with a good teacher however not have the merits to receive the Dharma. HOW SCARY! Conditions are so right yet everything that is perceived is skewed.
That is the worst possible scenario: to be near a qualified teacher but yet not able to practice or receive teachings due to having a skewed perception of the teachings or have wrong views of the teacher himself. It is like being trapped in a cage, hungry, and the food is right in front but out of reach. so near yet so far. It is a very painful situation beyond words.

It really gives a new meaning to "so near, yet so far".

In light of the topic at hand, I know this may sound like a daft question, but IF in the chance that we have a teacher that is not genuine, how would one even know?

I say this with no disrespect to any one out there, and we shouldn't start judging our gurus. but I'd just like to know this as I'm sure there are some people out there that might be really confused when analyzing a teacher to see if he/she is right for him.

Some of the teacher's actions are unexplainable, and can be perceived as wrong to us. However, they could very well just be the guru exercising their skillful methods. So how can one distinguish a teacher that is right or wrong for us?
In this case, check the results: are people happier? do people benefit? does the teacher only say nice and pleasant things that are meant to attract followers and not help them, or the teacher is direct, blunt and straight to the point and people around him improve by leaps and bounds? Results are tangible. However it is, on our level, we can only check the lineage of the teacher to see if He or She is valid so thats the best possible way to check, for now.


Its not really an invalid question at all. Many people tend to be wary of conpeople and they are very wary due to the abuse and charlatans that have surfaced in the western world. But before one can take on the spiritual path, one has to let go of this baseless fear first.

The most important element of Vajrayana Buddhism is Guru Devotion.  The reason being we have no merits to perceive the Dharma teachings and understand it to the tee and the bridge to our understanding is our Guru.

Such being the case, our devotion to our Guru will open the seeds for us to be on our path to spiritual journey. In the 20th century the most renowned Great Master is Pabongka Rinpoche and his root students were Ling Rinpoche and Trijang Rinpoche who were the tutors to the 14th Dalai Lama.

In denouncing the practice of Dorje Shugden, the Dalai Lama is in fact poisoning our own roots.  How can that be logical and acceptable to any Varjayana Buddhists?

Buddha taught the Dharma in 84,000 ways and who are we to judge if our Guru is using the right method when we find our Guru's ways unsuitable to us.  Can it be that we are unwilling to face our obscurations and obstacles to our path of attainments and enlightenment.  Are our minds so contaminated that instead of correcting our minds we prefer to forsake our Gurus?

I would never dare mention that the Dalai Lama has a contaminated mind, but what is the real reason for disparaging his Gurus which is the most unmeritorious act in our Doctrine?

Before we can fathom any answers, let us hold onto our lineage and continue propitiating Dorje Shugden and await the lifting of the Ban.
