Myanmar has a very rich Buddhist cultural heritage and efforts should be made to preserve it. The aim of this conference is to preserve both the physical and the spiritual aspects of Buddhism. Both are equally important. Buddha images, pagodas, temples, paintings etc., belong to the physical heritage while scriptures and teachings representing Buddha's speech, belong to the spiritual heritage. The participants include representatives from both Governments, NGOs, UNESCO, scholars, all of whom are important for the preservation of the cultural heritage of the country.
