Dalai Lama has been welcomed in Christchurch, New Zealand

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is very well liked in New Zealand, where he has recently been warmly welcomed during a visit. Francesca Lee reported for the Tibet Sun on June 8, 2013, Dalai Lama arrives in Christchurch. There was a warm crowd who welcomed the Dalai Lama when he arrived with a small escort at Christchurch International Airport about 12:30pm on Saturday with a small escort, including one police officer.

Jennifer Vine, a practicing Christchurch Buddhist, said, “I’m overwhelmed. He has great charisma." Vine converted to Tibetan Buddhism 40 years ago when she first heard about the Dalai Lama escaping Tibet in 1959. People joined together waiting for the Dalai Lama at the gates of the airport with white scarves which are called a khata, a traditional Tibetan offering of scarves with positive symbols.

The Dalai Lama was in a jovial mood when he flew into New Zealand from India via Sydney, Australia. He chatted with people and took photos with them briefly prior to getting inside a waiting car. He did not speak with the media at that time. Dunedin Buddhist nun Jampa Drolma, who came up to Christchurch just to see the Dalai Lama, said, “He has a beautifully calm presence and it’s very uplifting.” The Dalai Lama had plans to speak on the Four Noble Truths and The Pillar of Peace at the CBS Arena in Christchurch.

I have no doubt with HH Dalai Lama charisma which believed to be manifestation of Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion. HH Dalai Lama also known as the man of peace.  In 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He has consistently advocated policies of non-violence, even in the face of extreme aggression. He also became the first Nobel Laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems.

His Holiness has travelled to more than 67 countries spanning 6 continents. He has received over 150 awards, honorary doctorates, prizes, etc., in recognition of his message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion.  He has also authored or co-authored more than 110 books.

His Holiness has held dialogues with heads of different religions and participated in many events promoting inter-religious harmony and understanding.

Since the mid-1980’s, His Holiness has begun a dialogue with modern scientists, mainly in the fields of psychology, neurobiology, quantum physics and cosmology. This has led to a historic collaboration between Buddhist monks and world-renowned scientists in trying to help individuals achieve peace of mind.

Even at his age, His Holiness is still giving teachings, initiations, talks and advices to the public. You can see the motivation and the kindness of one, when you look back at the consistency of their action. All that His Holiness has done throughout his life is to teach and guide others onto the path of enlightenment irregardless of the methods it takes.

Therefore, since His Holiness's motivation is to guide and benefit others, how can He just create a ban to make others suffer? It does not align with the works of his life which is to benefit others. Therefore, on the same note, implementing the ban towards practising Dorje Shugden is also to the benefit of others.

His Holiness will continue to spread Buddha-dharma wherever he goes. There are many who likes him and also many who dislike him. Despite his age, he always put on his smile and able to mingle with people from diff backgrounds and culture. Relating to the protector issue, i believe he did not start this ban from stopping people to get benefits from this practice, i do not think he has a selfish motivation towards this matter but rather he might be seeing things we aren't able to.
