Tibetan PM writes to Secretary Kerry
« on: April 15, 2013, 01:18:24 PM »
DHARAMSHALA, April 14: The Prime Minister of the exile Tibetan administration, Dr Lobsang Sangay, wrote to the US Secretary of State John Kerry urging him to raise Tibet issue and the current crisis in Tibet during his first visit to China.

"China has neither employed the constitutional mechanism at its disposal nor has it shown the political will to resolve the Tibet issue peacefully. Prompt resumption of dialogue between the Chinese and Tibetan leadership, which has been stalled since January 2010, will give new hope to Tibetans and begin the process of finding a solution that works for both the sides," Sangay writes.

"Promotion of human rights and raising the Tibet issue is not only a morally right thing to do, but also a more open China that respects human rights will make for a more stable partner and will be less of a threat to international peace and security."

In his letter Sangay writes that the exile administration is 'committed to engaging in meaningful dialogue with the Chinese government anywhere, at any time'.

The Tibetan prime minister also urged Kerry to move quickly on appointing a new US Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues.

Last week, Sophie Richardson, the China Director at the Human Rights Watch (HRW), wrote to Secretary Kerry to raise the critical human rights situation in Tibet.

"Despite the increasing death toll, there is still no evidence to suggest willingness on the part of Chinese authorities to address the grievances articulated either by those who have self-immolated or more broadly by Tibetans, including those that represent basic human rights violations," HRW letter said.

China and the exile Tibetan government have held a number of dialogues to solve the issue of Tibet but have produced no concrete results. The last talk was held in January 2010.

What is the use of LS writing to John Kerry? Nobody could really care less about the Tibetans in reality, unless there is political interest in the issue. Lobsang sanggay cannot just demand for something that they think is their right when it isnt and that they have to work towards it. It's not something that can be you can just ask from people without giving anything back. To demand for independence from China, CTA needs to have something tangible - like telling China that they will be on their side and be friends with China, basically. HHDL's Middle Way approach has been scorned by Tibetans themselves, and it seems that CTA isnt interested in that but want full independence instead.

Such hypocrite!

Human rights? Why don't CTA and his authorities show human rights to Dorje Shugden practitioners?

Dialogues? Why don't CTA and his authorities have dialogues with Dorje Shugden practitioners?

If you don't like how others treat you in certain way, then don't treat others in the same way! You don't even need to be a Buddhist to know this!!

Engage in Dialogue with the Dalai Lama: US

DHARAMSHALA, April 16: The United States has called upon China to engage in dialogue with the Tibetans spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his representatives "without preconditions".

Speaking to reporters in Washington DC, Patrick Ventrell from the State Department said, "We call on the Chinese Government to engage in substantive dialogue with the Dalai Lama, with his representatives, and without preconditions."

He also added that it has been his country's longstanding policy.

Regarding China's crackdown on the families, friends and relatives of Tibetan self-immolators, Ventrell said that the US is "very concerned by the self-immolations, detentions, arrests of family members and associates of those who have self-immolated."

Since April 2009 as many as 114 Tibetans have set themselves on fire in Tibet calling for freedom and the return of the Dalai Lama from exile.

During his recent visit to China, US Secretary of State John Kerry raised the human rights issues with the Chinese leadership.

Last week Tibetan Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay as well as Human Right Watch wrote to the Secretary Kerry urging him to raise Tibet issue and the current crisis in Tibet during his first visit to China.

you know, it's funny that LS writes to kerry when he chooses to ignore completely another open letter that queries of the CTA's lack of democracy and conspiracies that involve the RFA chairwoman, that she was removed for not being on the Dalai Lama's  side. What is the use of asking for democracy of Tibet when they're doing everything that's against democracy? When a PM ignores open letters, it is a very clear sign that he is a very weak leader and that he will not be able to carry on the goals and wishes of the Tibetans.

Looks like nothing is happening again for CTA even when Lobsang Sangay has requested Secretary of State, Kerry to assist.

It is time for CTA to have a look at what they are pursuing, and whether what they stand for is still relevant.

Like not waking up to lift Ban, CTA is again off mark.
