Samdong Rinpoche is a great politician

I think Samdhong Rinpoche is a great being. He has great Guru Devotion and was and still is a good politician. Sometimes we tend to look at things on the surface. When he was the PM, he implemented the policies of the HHDL basically. That being the case he was "anti-Shugden" simply because HHDL was anti-Shugden. It we look deeper, monks like him practices Guru Devotion, first and foremost and that means everything that the Guru ask him to practice or do. Sometimes the Guru instructions is contradictory, but he took it in stride.

Beyond, anything I think, he showed to the world that while HHDL policies are supposed to be non-sectarian; by banning the the Protector and the HHDL is sectarian. That is the irony he showed.

Going forward, Samdhong Rinpoche is probably one of the best person to mitigate for the ban to be lifted as he is friendly with HHDL/CTA and Trijang Rinpoche.

 Much respect to Samdong Rinpoche for doing what is needed, putting aside his own wants and desires. He has shown pure guru devotion, trusting his Guru, Trijang Rinpoche at all costs.

Yes, ultimately when the time is right, Samdong Rinpoche might be able to diffuse the conflict, controversy and ban because he has exemplified the truth behind this practice. Neither was it demonic or even political. It was a call to spread the Dharma. The seemingly opposition between two camps was just a necessary dissemination tool.

Further to this, we also witness the graciousness of Trijang Rinpoche in practicing the Dharma. He instructed his student to obey HHDL, perhaps to lessen the already tensed polarity but most importantly to demonstrate the practice of Dorje Shugden is of peace. This is clearly seen when the current incarnation of Trijang Rinpoche disrobed so as to continue practicing Dorje Shugden and not be embroiled in the clashes and calamities. An immaculate display of a highly attained master.
