http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/features/the-act-of-giving/Buddha described humans as lotuses, each in different stage of growth, floating on the lake surface. While most humans are like the buds right before blooming that are being protective of themselves, some are already bloomed, sharing their beauty with the world.
Giving and selflessness to share something beneficial with others are basic principles of Buddhism. Also according to an old wisdom, there is no giving without receiving; they form a cycle.
If the Dalai Lama does not want any protests from the Dorje Shugden believers because he has to control them, possible energy drainer, he must also give them the freedom of religion.
I do not want to say that Dalai Lama is one of the lotuses under the water that do not share their beauty, something beneficial with the world, but he seems like that certain lotus flower. He is shunning the outside world from what he believes in. Yet he is only creating a vicious cycle between the Dalai Lama’s beliefs and the Dorje Shugden. This is not giving. It is against the most basic principle of Buddhism. What if Dalai Lama was denied an access to health cares and other essential services just because of what religion he believes in? Perhaps the power of being an authority has turned him into this way?
