Indeed, as Guru devotion is the most important practice in the Tibetan Buddhism. How could His Holiness Dalai Lama go against the practices that his teachers such as HH Ling Rinpoche and HH Trijang Rinpoche? Besides, H. H. Dalai Lama has been showing a lot of inconsistencies statements for this ban. We would really need to read and check out for more solid facts rather than just blindly follow the ban and cause a lot of harm and pains to the Dorje Shugden practitioners.

The article is good in the sense that it is bringing the issue of HH Dalai Lama's absurd ban on the practice of Dorje Shugden to a wider audience. It is a shame though, in trying to keep in line with journalistic distance of the subject and simply reporting what is going on, it seems to me from a personal point of view that the writer did not get across the major points of the article all too clearly. I hope that in the future, there will be more articles on the issue in the Eastasiaforum, that educate people more on the absurdity of this ban, the actions of the Dalai Lama and the persecution that has followed against so many people, who offer the practice of Dorje Shugden and even those simply associated with the protector.

I think for now it is good enough that Dorje Shugden's name is in the imprint of whoever comes across the media reporting.  It has never in history in Tibetan Buddhism a deity has become world renowned in the course of controversy and conflict.  All the protests following the Dalai Lama throughout the globe and world media reporting will only conjure publicity on Dorje Shugden to become bigger and popular as time goes by.  In this way Dorje Shugden is poised to conquer the world in the near future.

Without a doubt that the Dalai Lama has successfully spread the Buddha Dharma across the world since his escapee from Tibet. He is an advocate of peace and love as seen worldwide but the other side of him are not seen by many who suppressed freedom of religion inside his own sect, the Gelugpa, where the banned the practice of Dorje Shugden.

Many are unaware that this ban has caused suffering to the practitioners and their families and has divided communities which were once peaceful. Until recently, we get to know more through the media and advancement in technology has heighten up the fight for freedom as the international community is more aware of it.

The Dalai Lama has so many issues that are in his mind especially with the Chinese Government. Why not just lift the ban and take one problem off his mind? Then, there may be some change for the betterment.
