Gen Ahzung of Serpom Monastery
« on: April 15, 2014, 06:57:58 AM »
Wow! I rejoice to hear about a greatly attained monk had just passed away and remained in Tukdam for 19 days. Amazing! He must have been secretly performing other Tantric practices. From the article, one can see that he was a humble monk, preferring to be of service to the monastery as a simple monk. I rejoice to learn of his attainments when it counts the most.

Gen Tenzin Donyoe, better known as Gen Ahzung

Dorjeshugden.com has recently received news of the passing of one the great living treasures of Serpom Monastery. Gen Tenzin Donyoe, affectionately known as Gen Ahzung, is a simple monk with few belongings. He outwardly portrayed himself as a humble monk who only did very simple practices. His heart practice which lasted his entire life was the recitation of the Praises to the 21 Arya Taras. He also devoted his life to Dorje Shugden.

Gen Ahzung turned 93 this year (2014) and on the 11th day of the first Tibetan month, he passed away and stayed in tukdam for a total of 19 days. On the 30th day of the first Tibetan month, Gen Ahzung’s consciousness left his body and a traditional cremation ceremony was arranged by the monastery. When Gen Ahzung’s cremated remains were examined, rinsel relics (usually only found in the cremated remains of high lamas) were found.

Gen Ahzung was a working monk, always ready to help the monastery in whatever way he could. One would hardly see him doing retreats or sacred rituals. However, it is evident that due to the power of keeping his samaya clean with his Gurus, Yidams and Protector, Gen Ahzung had achieved the attainments necessary to take full control of his death and bless us with inspiration.

We at dorjeshugden.com would like to offer prayers to Gen Ahzung requesting his swift return to help quell the sufferings of sentient beings.

Dear Big Uncle,

It is profoundly moving to read this article of Gen Ahzung.  His external appearance of a modest simple monk without any showmanship of accomplishments and by merely focusing his life devoting to and trusting Lord Dorje Shugden yet has so much tell tale signs after his passing is really awe-inspiring.  If "spirit worshipping" can bring this result of a highly attained being then let me be the 'spirit worshipper".  We must highlight this to the Dalai Lama, CTA and the rest of the world for the prosecution of Dorje Shugden is really baseless and illogical.

I am confident that there are many serious Shugden practitioners who are like Gen Ahzung out there in the world without any showmanship but who are truly attained.

Gen Ahzung may look like a simple monk but his devotion and trust in Dorje Shugden make him a highly attained monk who was able to take control of his death. It is amazing that he stayed in tukdam for 19 days. This tells us that with sincere prayers with devotion and clean samaya to our Guru, Yidam and Protector such results can be attained. I agree with icy and I would not mind “spirit worshipping” if “spirit worshipping” can bring such good results :)

May Gen Ahzung take a swift rebirth.

There are many other Dorje Shugden lamas who stayed in tukdam for days before they ejected their consciousness such as Geshe Lobsang Phende, who stayed in tukdam(clear light mediation) for 3 days. Geshe Lobsang Pende was a devoted practitioner of Dorje Shugden till the end of his life.

http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/the-four-great-sera-mey-lamas/

Then there was His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche who stayed in tukdam for days under the summer heat of India yet his body remained fragrant.

http://www.dorjeshugden.com/great-masters/recent-masters/zong-rinpoche-lobzang-tsondru-tubten-gyeltsen/

In April 2010, Kyabje Lati Rinpoche stayed in tukdam for 5 days and after his cremation,  many special holy relics were found which is testament to his pure and high realizations.

The list continues...

The question: CTA is right and these Lamas are great magicians OR Dorje Shugden is an enlightened being that protects his practitioners till they achieve such high realizations??

Thank you for sharing this story. Thukdam has fascinated me ever since I came to the Buddhism, especially because of the fact that one can take the life event of death into the path towards complete enlightenment for the benefit of others.

Many great masters have shown that one can achieve great states of realisation from practicing the dharma. This has caught the attention of western scientists who are also captivated with thukdam. But up until today, no one has been able to scientifically explain thukdam.

OH WOW....  Goes to show that a simple monk can also control his death which means that we can too. From what I read, the most important thing is to keep the samaya with the guru clean and that will help us in practice towards enlightenment. it is the blessings from our guru that advances our study of Dharma. Without the guru, nothing is possible.

Gen Ahzung's story also shows that he is a simple and humble monk, which is align with the Gelug tradition of being humble.

Thanks to Big Uncle on this news. Rejoice!

Despite so much controversy and obstacles that a monk will have to face if he practice Dorje Shugden, he still continue with his Practice, be humble, be simple, strong Guru Devotion and keep the moral discipline well.
Will offer my prayer to Gen Ahzung, another extraordinary practitioner of Dorje Shugden

The question to the CTA is if Shugden is a demon why is high incarnation like Trijang Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Zemey Rinpoche & the list goes on are incarnated? If they practice a demon, with regards to the rules of karma, don't they go to the 3 lower realms. But why are they back?

If it is true Shugden is a demon then, these lama should not return. Then karma do not exist, then Buddha was wrong!

Wow, so amazing... these great Lamas truly prove to us who they really are, even when they entered clear light. That goes to say that Dorje Shugden is definitely a valid practice within Buddhism for his practice has assisted these great lamas in their spiritual path. The ban on Dorje Shugden is truly political, and we can only trust Lamas that has kept this practice because we know they are truly sincere in their practice as politics and hardship never made them give up Dorje Shugden. In fact, with the ban, we get to see for real, who are the lamas that are sincere, loyal and highly attained.

Gen Ahzung was not a famous monk; in fact he was just the opposite -- remaining as a simple humble monk in the monastery who did not show any special abilities.  Deep down, he was very true to his practice and daily prayers, keeping his samaya clean.

He lived to a ripe old age of 93 and stayed in clear light for 19 days. That is so amazing.  To think that a Dorje Shugden practitioner lived to be so old and with no harm to his life, and upon his cremation, they found relics among his ashes.

Can DS worship be wrong?

I rejoice in Gen Ahzung's accomplishment of Tukdam. Gen Ahzung's passing epitomizes the power of Tukdam death meditation.
The ability to control our mind during the death processes ensures the deceased to take a good rebirth.  Through Gen Ahzung's pure samaya to his guru, devotion, consistency and commitment to the Tara and Dorje Shugden practices, he had accomplished Tukdam. The rinsel pills that were found proves that Gen Ahzung is a highly attained practitioner.

It is a very good piece of evidence to show us not only High Lama and masters only be able to stay in Tukdam and have rinsel pills by only holding your vows well and have a very good samaya with your own guru. This is very inspirational and i hope Gen Ahzung will take a swift rebirth and continue to benefit others in near future.

This just proven that Lord Dorje Shugden is a complete Buddha and He can bestow highest attainment to sincere practitioners.

Gen Ahzung was just a simple monk that sincerely practice and rely on Dorje Shugden and yet his cremated remains produced rinsel relics; similar results of highly attained lamas.

"Gelugpa practitioners who have a sincere trust in Dorje Shugden will have no difficulty in generating unshakeable faith in Je Tsongkhapa. Their practice of view, meditation, and action will naturally become pure and they will easily realize the special uncommon qualities of Je Tsongkhapa's teachings. Thus they will be able to gain experience of the stages of the path of both Sutra and Tantra without any difficulty." ~ WisdomBuddhaDorjeShugden.org

A very inspiring story of a simple monk that teaches us that with sincere practice ,even if we were not a scholar or a great master,we can gain great accomplishments.
Gen Ahsung had achieved the attainments necessary to take full control of his death, by having strong guru samaya with his Gurus, his Yidam Tara and protector Dorje Shugden.
May Gen Achung return swiftly to benefit countless sentient beings.

The Dalai Lama said that by continuing his practice of Dorje Shugden will shorten his life. But I do not see Gen Ahzung's life been shorten. He lived till a ripe old age of 93 and although a simple monk, he can remain in Tukdam death meditation for another 19 days.

He is definitely an accomplished and attained being with good clean samaya to be in the tukdam for so long. "Simple" is hardly a word to describe Gen Ahzung. The fact that he has always been a working monk tells me his practices were pure with good motivation as another method to reach higher spiritual height.
