Yet again another attempt to CTA to spread misinformation to manipulate the world at large. The entire announcement reeks of CTA trying to continue using Dorje Shudgen as scapegoat and lacks any solid supporting evidence. In fact, the manner in which the announcement is crafted exhibits the typical characteristics of a propaganda, namely the public dissemination of repeated;
(i) Intentional distortion of truths/facts – (e.g. statement where Indian and US authorities have recognized that Dolgyal-related groups are a security threat to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, “In fact, not a single Dolgyal propitiator has been harmed by the Tibetan community. Dolgyal propitiating monasteries freely exist in the Tibetan settlements and Dolgyal propitiators are issued Indian Registration Certificates (RC) which, without discrimination, allows residency in settlements, access to school, health services, scholarships, old age stipend and any other benefits” “In seeking legal status or political asylum in North America and Europe, Dolgyal followers could be using “denial of religious freedom” as an excuse, but the very documents on which they stay in India and travel abroad, are issued by the government of India with the endorsement of the Central Tibetan Administration. Therefore, they have neither been denied their religious freedom nor their rights to live in India and travel abroad”).
(ii) Promotion of very questionable/misguided information/facts (e.g. statement where Dorje Shugden practitioners are getting paid by the Chinese government to protest against the Dalai Lama)
(iii) Reinforcement of their agenda to discredit Dorje Shudgen practitioners – (e.g. statement where “Essentially, the posting of this information stems from security concerns and to raise awareness within the Tibetan community about members of a group with a history of violence e.g. murder, physical assault and arson” “This campaign reached a new level with demonstrations specifically targeting His Holiness during his last visits abroad. The physical proximity of the demonstrators to His Holiness has alarmed the Tibetan community as have slogans such as “False Dalai Lama” and “Dictator”).
CTA has been using this tactic to hoodwink the masses and unfortunately history has shown that such tactic has worked thusfar. By playing into the fears of the Tibetans (of things which they hold dear) i.e. harm to Dalai Lama and Tibetan cause, over the years, the Tibetans have come to associate the Dorje Shugden practitioners as the enemy/anti-Dalai Lama that they see no wrong in criminalising and even punishing them. The effect of such tactic has far-reaching impact with larger international audience who lacking in real exposure to the real situation, forms their opinion on this issue based also on the sentiments of the Tibetans and the public image of Dalai Lama. When Dorje Shugden practitioners are no longer seen as people but rather the enemy, it becomes very easy for those misguided by the misinformation to whole-heartedly support CTA. It is no longer “Are we right in our actions?” or whether such information should be checked in the first place. Those people readily jump into the CTA’s bandwagon thinking that they should support the ones fighting for their rights/against the enemy or that they should/want to stand on the “right” side. Why else would non-Tibetan Dorje Shugden practitioners (who has nothing to do with Tibetan politics) are subjected to such immense hatred (other than being lumped together as the “enemy”)?
The only silver lining is that the more media literate and more proper information is disseminated out, the higher the chance of people being in a position to see discrepancies, assess and come to the facts/situation as what it truly is. Then, they are less likely to be swayed or so directly influenced. Hence, the importance of websites like dorjeshugden.com.
