It’s Time to GET SERIOUS About China
« on: May 19, 2018, 08:59:42 PM »
Relying on the help of Westerners will soon be a bygone approach for the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). With President Xi’s seizing of power for life, leaders in the world can no longer ignore the growing behemoth and have no choice but to kowtow to China’s rising power. As the Tibetans have nowhere to go, the only logical move is to submit to Chinese rules before the window of opportunity closes. Tibet is a lost cause, all the more so now with the hardline approach by India, their host of 60 years who is hell-bent on curbing any politically-related activities by the Tibetans on Indian soil.

Quote
Just this year, the Chinese Communist Party held an election in the Great Hall of the People where Xi Jinping was voted “President for Life.” The vote was 2,958 for and six against. With this vote they proclaimed that China is now realizing its dream of national rejuvenation, and it’s grand strategy to restore its Empire.

This move only adds to mounting evidence of Chinese economic and military ambitions that we’ve been learning about from Cambridge University Professor Stefan Halper and Pat Mulloy, a longtime member of the bipartisan China Commission.

The New Emperor

“There’s no opposition in Communist China, that’s the first thing to understand.  They can call it an election, but in effect it’s a coronation,” said Stefan

“And if you’re Chinese, and you’re in opposition, don’t you get swept up into Xi’s “anti-corruption” regime?”, I asked.

“Yes, that’s the best net he has.  He’s arrested about 182,000 people, that’s a lot of people, and they’re frightened to death,” he said.

Pat explains “we’re going back into a period that the Chinese were very afraid of getting into again, of having a permanent emperor ruler. I think this has really caught the attention of many in the West who thought China was not going back on this kind of road,” and that the Chinese explicitly moved away from having rulers for life following the brutalities of Mao Zedong’s rule.

Increased Repression

And just like Mao, Xi’s rule looks to be about accumulating power rather than making life better for his own people.  In fact, the Chinese are ramping up East German-style surveillance of the public through “social credit scores.”

“In Beijing alone there are over 40,000 internet policemen, people who track the internet, what people are doing and saying,” said Stefan.

“People now have cameras in their home, and of course on the streets, and they’re monitored 24/7. And if you have an infraction, like you’ve been crossing the street in the wrong place or against the light, that’s noted,” said Stefan, And if you get enough of these infractions, you begin to lose certain privileges and freedoms,” said Stefan.

“It’s 1984 writ large.”

Giant Economic Ambitions

While repressing its own people, China is busy using the money the United States pumps into its economy through a lopsided trade relationship to build its influence throughout the region and the world.  A major part of that endeavor is the One Belt One Road policy, a project Stefan calls “fifty times the size of the Marshall Plan,” which was the U.S.-led rebuilding of Europe following World War II.

“One Belt One Road is a concept that Xi Jinping advanced that would link China with India, the Near East, South Asia, Europe, and it would facilitate the movement of Chinese exports by road and rail all the way into Europe. It involves the construction of roads and bridges and railroads in order to move all of these exports, and it requires China to effect relationships with businesses across the Near East and South Asia,” said Stefan.

China’s aggression leaves businesses and other nations feeling greater unease but Beijing’s power and money leaves them with few practical options.

“So this lopsided economic relationship that we have with China is permitting them to expand their political influence through projects like this, and their economic influence, but also permitting them to strengthen themselves militarily.

“Because when you transfer technology and industrial capacity to your opponent at your own expense, they can then pump money into their military capabilities, and they’ve been doing just that,” said Pat.

Territorial Aggression and Trampling International Law

On the seas, China is pursuing the Maritime Silk Road, which seeks to connect ports – known as their “string of pearls” – throughout Asia and beyond in an effort to build autonomy for Chinese commerce.

But Chinese aggression on the seas goes much farther, including the claiming of 100,000 square miles of the South China Sea and beyond.  The United Nations ruled against China’s territorial claims but those verdicts have been brazenly ignored.

“It is one of the most outrageous and egregious violations of international law and precedent that any of us have seen in a long while,” said Stefan.

The Chinese say scraps of ancient pottery have been found in these places, proving they have a historical claim to those lands.

“If that were true, then the United States could claim the Gulf of Mexico, the French would own the Atlantic Ocean,” added Stefan.

The Wake-Up Call

The U.S. and the rest of the world have been either asleep at the switch or happily complicit in the rise of Chinese power over the past 40 years.  Through rose-colored glasses we believed that if we let China into the world trade system they’ll become more liberal, democratic …  more like us. We also believed that the internet was going to make China more liberal and open. These things haven’t happened.

Instead, China now has a new emperor who is bent on becoming the dominant power on the world stage and is perfectly comfortable trampling the rights of nations and his own people.

And with Xi’s seizing of power for life, many serious leaders in the world are starting to pay serious attention to the growing behemoth it has failed to recognize and confront.

Note the word serious

In America, the word serious doesn’t even begin to describe our media and political class. Instead, they rage on about a bankrupt Russia’s feeble attempt at election meddling  – and Stormy Daniels. It would be funny, if it weren’t so dangerous.

It’s about time we got serious.

Lobsang Sangay and the CTA are still living in their own world. They are still so arrogant and refuse to improve their relationship with China. Touring around the world to complain about China and tell people how badly Tibetans are treated is still the main agenda of Lobsang Sangay.

Like it or not, China is developing rapidly, especially their economy. They have become one of the superpowers in the world. Most countries need to ride on China to stimulate their economy as well. One of the example is Nepal, who used to be a strong supported of the CTA.

The Middle Way approach is the best option for the Tibetans. Tibet under the ruling of China has progressed so much. Tibetans' life has improved a lot compared to 60 years ago. China has produced results whereas CTA has not been successful in anything.

Tibetans really do not know how to think long term. Well with silly actions being reported in the news... there is definitely NO WAY Tibet is ever going to get any autonomy and HH Dalai Lama's wish to return to Tibet is down the drain!

They must think they are "smart" to ride on HK's protest to talk about Tibet. Unfortunately, it only makes them look bad. The TYC doesn't even know what they are talking about when they make such silly statements... “We call upon China to stop bullying and oppressing Hong Kong and its people and stop interfering in Hong Kong’s internal politics.” They obviously do not learn the history and forget HK is never a country on its own and part of China. This makes them look really ignorant.

*TYC leads march for Hong Kong in the Indian capital*

DHARAMSHALA, August 30: The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), the largest Tibetan NGO in exile, undertook a peace march this afternoon in New Delhi in support of Hong Kong protestors as the mass resistance enters its 13th week, with its key pro-democracy activists arrested.

Tibetans came on the street of India’s capital in black, carrying black umbrellas with messages painted on it as they walked from Sansad Marg to Jantar Mantar in Connaught Place.

“This march supports the aspirations of the Hong Kong protest which demands to protect the basic human rights and democracy in Hong Kong,” the youth organization said in a press release.

The protestors demanded democracy for Hong Kong and freedom for Tibet, calling out China for its continued oppression.

The youth organization called the resistance in Hong Kong exemplary and inspirational for the organization and all other people and countries fighting against the communist regime.

“Despite the massive peaceful demonstrations in Hong Kong, Carrie Lam government under pressure from China continues to ignore the demands of the people.” TYC statement said, “We call upon China to stop bullying and oppressing Hong Kong and its people and stop interfering in Hong Kong’s internal politics.”

With the arrest of Pro-democracy activists who were charged with inciting and participating in illegal rallies, the planned weekend protest is shelved after Hong Kong police announced on Thursday they would not permit the Saturday rally, citing concerns over public order.

TYC, with over 35,000 members is spread across 88 regional chapters around the world fighting for Tibet’s independence from China.

It seems that the Tibetans are not interested in what goes on in the world.
Everybody wants to be friends with China and so many times the Dalai Lama was not welcomed in countries around the world because of China's influence, power and negative repercussions for the host country.

The Tibetans have to face that their dream of getting back their country will never happen. They can go back to Tibet in China and accept the facts.

Look at how China trying to monopoly the world economy which directly benefits them in their military with their project. China keeps focusing on the growth instead of petty stuff to ban their Tibetan's protector, recognizing another leader for other lineages and etc. CTA never learn their mistake and never want to make a change and improve. With the latest TYC protest, that will really irk the Chinese and this definitely gives a negative impact for Dalai Lama and Tibetan to return to Tibet. The way I look at this, CTA more like a spy to sabotage Dalai Lama's plan and wishes.

China is getting stronger every day, this is undeniable. China wants to develop its country and continue to have progress, therefore, they always seek for better corporation with other countries. They don't believe in violence and they will not use violence to conquer another country. Everybody loves money, China is very clever to use economy to 'conquer' another country. They provide financial support and give technology transfer to help other countries to develop. Instead of just take, China gives something back. To work with China, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The CTA is really stupid to not work with China.

I would not be surprised if the Dalai Lama has sent someone from his own side to start negotiating with China again about his return. He needs to return to pass away there in Tibet and to give hope to the millions of Tibetans there waiting to see his golden face for the last time. I hope the Dalai Lama succeeds in this because CTA is definitely not going anywhere near achieving this.

Although we may pray to Dorje Shugden, but we still have good wishes for the Dalai Lama and hopes he gets to return to his people in Tibet. Ultimately, what is most important is preserving the pure lineage and I personally think thanks to the Dalai Lama's controversy and ban on Dorje Shugden, it has made Dorje Shugden more famous and popular than ever before! So in directly, the Dalai Lama did promote Dorje Shugden, bad PR is still PR.

The Dalai Lama was found sending Samdhong Rinpoche to China, perhaps Samdhong Rinpoche was sent to negotiate with China so the Dalai Lama can go back to Tibet. It seems like the Dalai Lama has given up on the CTA, he does not want to reply on the CTA to bring him back to Tibet anymore. He rather sends the people he trusts to talk to China. The Dalai Lama also openly advises Tibetans to go back to Tibet because Tibet is so prosperous now, there are many more opportunities than before.
