This is but another obvious result of CTA's failure in maintaining ties with Nepal throughout the years. Undeniably Nepal, despite struggling with its own issues, has shown so much generosity to Tibetans but when Nepal was hit with disaster, CTA epically failed repay such generosity in kind.
In fact, CTA’s lackadaisical assistance was extremely disappointing considering CTA merely issued a simple statement expressing sorrow, offered 20 lakh rupees (equivalent to less than USD 32,000) towards Nepali rescue and relief efforts, and promised to pray for Nepal.
Seriously, with the countless millions that the CTA receives annually in government grants, public aid and donations, it would not be too unreasonable to expect more from CTA given what Nepal has done for Tibetans throughout decades.
Further, as if that was not bad enough, it was reported that some of the Dalai Lama’s associates capitalised on the Nepal earthquake to deepen their own pockets and are now facing charges of money laundering.

Hence, can you really blame Nepal for wizening up to CTA’s shenanigans and dropping CTA (who is only interested in what it can gain from its friends and does not bother much with how it can contribute to the people of other nations) in favour of China who brings positive growth to Nepal’s economy?
