Another Tibetan event in Delhi deferred
« on: March 25, 2018, 10:12:47 AM »
Another event gets postponed? The big Than You India event is already a huge slap in CTA's face, now this? Well if CTA still does not realise that to provoke China is not going to help their situation, then they better get ready to close shop. I hope they stop humiliating the Dalai Lama. Times are really changing and everyone is dropping anything to do with Tibetan Cause like stink bomb and clearly staying far far away from it.

DHARAMSHALA: In a major jolt to Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), another major Tibetan event which was planned in Delhi in April has been deferred. Tibetan parliament deputy speaker Acharya Yeshi confirmed the development but refused to give any details.
It is a second major Delhi slated Tibetan event to have been called off. Earlier, Thank You India event to mark 60 years of the exile of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was scrapped following the Union goverment’s directions to senior dignitaries to stay away from it.
Now, ‘Global conference on Tibet’, which was to be held from April 26 to 28 in New Delhi, has been deferred. “The event has been postponed. It was to be hosted by the CTA in Delhi and parliamentarians from 30 countries were to participate it,” said Kangra MP Shanta Kumar, who was also to attend it.
Repeated attempts to contact the Tibetan administration remained futile but well placed sources said no further dates have been announced for the event.
He averted querries on reasons for the change of plan. Tibetan parliamentarian Karma Yeshi denied any knowledge about the development this. Another Tibetan MP Lobsang didn’t respond to calls on the phone.

The delay of this event is far more serious than those deferred earlier. The last time the Tibetan issue was brought up was in Canada 6 years ago. What does this tell you? The Tibet issue has not been high on anyone’s agenda for a long time. The trend now is clear that the Indian government prevents any official from attending any Tibetan events, and worst still, to refuse to host the discussion on the Tibet issue. India is dropping its support on the Tibet issue as a series of upcoming high profile meetings between Indian and China officials will take place. Let's see how bad things will become for the CTA.

Sadly, judging from CTA’s actions, CTA is either incompetently oblivious to impact of the erosion of Indian support or to blatantly ignoring it. Both do not reflect well on CTA.

If it is the former, why on earth would one follow a weak leadership that is unable to see, much less prepare against future risks? If it is the latter, then that is even worse as it reveals the unscrupulous self-serving nature of CTA who are just capitalising on the pain and suffering of Tibetans.

Now, if those are not already solid reasons for CTA not be entrusted with more funds meant for Tibetans or mandate to do what is in the interest of Tibetans, really don’t know what are.

If Tibetan want to really thank India, they should respect India's decision to mend relations and improve their co-operation with China, which means that the Tibetan affairs and cause in India will naturally suffer.

We see a new era of cooperation between China and India as both signed 101 agreements when the trade promotion group organised by China’s Ministry of Commerce's current visit to India, in order to strengthen economic and trade ties and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. The group are made up of officials from the Ministry of Commerce and more than 30 representatives from various sectors including textile, pharmaceutical, petrochemical industries as well as commercial trading, agriculture and others.

It's obvious that China and India can benefit each other much more, and if the Tibetans in exile, especially in India stand out of the way.
