"The 14th Dalai Lama, reigning since 22 February 1940, has selected his own reincarnation. This happened secretly on July 13 in Diskit monastery of Ladakh, sources familiar with the internationally sensitive matter have revealed. The Dalai Lama arrived in Ladakh on July 3.

The 15th Dalai Lama is a young Tibetan boy, three or four years old, whose parents hold refugee status in India. They will now apply for Indian citizenship and also later likely to receive US citizenship.

The main purpose of the 14th Dalai Lama’s Ladakh visit was to “select” his own reincarnation, the 15th Dalai Lama. Between July 4-12 the Dalai Lama met in private with several groups of Ladakhis in his quarters at the ShiwatselPhodrang to set in motion the process of selecting his successor.
 
The Dough Ball Test

The Dalai Lama, the sources confided, performed a dough ball divination ritual. This is the most important ritual mandatory for selection of very highly placed lamas, including the selection of the Dalai Lama himself, the supreme deity for the Tibetans. According to a Tibetan website, the Doughball Divination is practiced mainly in the monasteries or by individual lamas when an important decision needs to be made, such as in the search for the reincarnation of very high lamas.

A number of possible answers to the enquiry, such as the names of likely candidates for a reincarnation, are written on slips of paper. These are then encased in equal sized balls of dough. Great care is taken to weigh the doughballs to ensure that they are exactly the same size. The doughballs are then placed in a bowl, which is carefully sealed and placed in front of a sacred object, such as the Jowo statue in the main temple in Lhasa, images of dharma protectors or the funerary monuments of great lamas, requesting their inspiration in deciding the outcome. For a period of three days monks remain in the temple reciting prayers day and night.

During that time no one is allowed to touch the bowl. On the fourth day, before all those present the cover of the bowl is removed. A prominent lama rolls the doughballs round in the bowl before the sacred object until one of them falls out. That is the ball containing the answer.The entire event of the “selection” process of the 15th Dalai Lama was recorded on camera, witnessed and spoken in both Tibetan and English.

Total secrecy

No public announcement of the selection of the 15th Dalai Lama will be made till an appropriate time. Otherwise, it would raise questions about why the Tibetans are doing this now if the Dalai Lama is in good health and going to live for another 15 years as claimed by ardent followers of the 14th Dalai Lama.

The videotape of the selection process of the 15th Dalai Lama is being kept ready to be shown at a time the 14th Dalai Lama deems fit or is meant to be released after the present Dalai Lama’s death. The Tibetans, under the leadership of the Dalai Lama, have also made some videos that could later be released to the media showing the close bond between the 14th and the 15th to try and counteract the inevitable Chinese opposition to the move.

The obvious question at the moment is what necessitates the selection of the 15th Dalai Lama when the 14th is still alive? According to sources, the time to pick a successor assumes significance in the backdrop of reports that the 14th Dalai Lama is a terminal-stage patient of prostate cancer. This has been denied by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

Incidentally, the news of the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation is now starting to emerge through the exile leadership’s back channels as the call for the Dalai Lama to recognise his successor before his own death has been gaining momentum. The first sign of this came up with an opinion piece in the Tibetan Journal calling for a “pre-emptive emanation”.

The article says, “It is imperative that His Holiness the Dalai Lama should reincarnate within his lifetime at a place of his choosing…Therefore, a symbolic eternal presence of HH without any gap between reincarnations is crucial. And better still, if we get to see the HHDL15 when HHDL14 is still around.”

Interestingly, thearticle explains why such an exercise is an imperative to foil inevitable Chinese manoeuvres. The reason explaining the importance of the selection of the 15th Dalai Lama during the lifetime of the 14th Dalai Lama is given succinctly in the article, according to which “Manifestation of such an emanation would be a knock-out blow to China and a lifeline to the relevance of the Tibetan cause.”

Though the Dalai Lama has hinted at this possibility before, this is the first time ever that there’s been a public call for it. Thus, it’s a well-choreographed move by the Tibetans to encourage the 14th Dalai Lama to choose his successor—which he has done quietly.

DHARAMSHALA, India--The political head of the Tibetan government-in-exile said a meeting likely to be held in 2018 could discuss the succession of the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, and other issues.

In an exclusive interview with The Asahi Shimbun here in northern India, Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay said one aim was to avoid undue interference by China in the selection of a successor to the 82-year-old Dalai Lama.

"Most likely by this year-end there will be a meeting of all the religious leaders to discuss all issues including reincarnation," Sangay said.

For several centuries, the tradition in Tibetan Buddhism has been to find a young child to serve as the successor to the Dalai Lama, who is considered the rebirth of the Kannon Bodhisattva.

The current 14th Dalai Lama was designated by high priests as the next Dalai Lama when he was only 2 years old.

Regarding a successor, Sangay said, "I am an advocate of emanation. Emanation is more stable because you designate one successor."

A major reason for breaking with tradition are the concerns that Beijing will name a successor of its choosing that would make it easier for China to strengthen its control over Tibet.

For example, when another spiritual leader, the 10th Panchen Lama, died in 1989, the Chinese government named the 11th Panchen Lama in order to wield power over him. Beijing has also increasingly insisted in recent years that it alone has the authority to recognize which individual is the reincarnation of high religious leaders.

"The Chinese government has destroyed almost all our monasteries," Sangay said. "If they interfere in the Dalai Lama, it won't work. No one will follow."

The Dalai Lama himself issued a statement in 2011 that warned that Beijing was waiting for his death so it could appoint the 15th Dalai Lama and deceive Tibet and the international community.

In an interview with The Asahi Shimbun in 2015, the Dalai Lama said that the Tibetan people would decide his successor. In a speech in New Delhi in 2017, he said choosing a successor before he died would be a more stable way of picking a new spiritual leader.

The statements by Sangay can be considered the specific direction desired by the Dalai Lama since he took over political duties from him in 2011.

However, the Dalai Lama has until now said that he would make an important decision before he turned 90.

Sangay said, "He also said that he will decide at the age of the first Dalai Lama, that is 84 years old (when he died). He could say something."

The Dalai Lama will turn 84 in 2019 so there is a possibility he could make an announcement about his successor then.

Those close to the Dalai Lama have been more concerned about his health recently due to his advanced age as he had to cancel a planned visit to Japan in 2017."

Writing in a July 1955 issue of National Geographic magazine, Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer recounted how his confidante the 14th Dalai Lama was chosen.

Harrer, who escaped from a prison camp in India and spent a noteworthy ‘Seven Years in Tibet’ as his autobiography was called, described the 14th Dalai Lama’s recognition. A search party that journeyed to the China’s Qinghai province in 1937 to search for the 13th Dalai Lama’s reincarnation stopped at a small house where a precocious two-year-old boy sprang up and ran out to meet them, identifying a disguised priest and choosing the ‘Great Thirteenth’s’ favourite drum and walking cane. The monks found marks on the child’s body – prominent ears and moles on the upper part of his trunk – which appeared to confirm he was the reincarnation.

Now, 80 years after that astonishing event, the Dalai Lama believes the time has come for him to choose his successor. Addressing the annual Rajendra Mathur memorial lecture organised by the Editor’s Guild of India on August 9, the Dalai Lama, said some of the ‘preparation work’ to select his successor, the 15th Dalai Lama, will begin in as early as ‘one or two years’.


“Some of the preparation for the future of the Dalai Lama institution will begin in the next one or two years,” the Dalai Lama said indicating that his successor might be found either in Mongolia or in the Northern Himalayas (India).

The Dalai Lama’s significant comments on his succession were overshadowed by his statement on the Doklam standoff where he invoked the spirit of ‘Hindi-Chini bhai bhai’. These comments, however, are unlikely to go unnoticed in Beijing because it marks a significant departure from what the Dalai Lama said on September 24, 2011. The process to choose his successor, he said in a statement, would begin only after he turned 90, in the year 2025 when he would consult Tibetan Buddhist high Lamas on the need for continuing the institution of the Dalai Lama.

ONUS OF CHOOSING SUCCESSOR ON GADEN PHODRANG TRUST

If the institution’s utility was felt, it would be the responsibility of the Dalai Lama’s Gaden Phodrang Trust to choose his successor. The trust would consult with the various heads of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions to select the 15th Dalai Lama.

Scholars point out two significant aspects of his August 9 statement – the Dalai Lama has already decided on the need to continue the institution and the deadlines for choosing a successor have been advanced. “He feels the twin pressures of his advancing years and of the Chinese,” says Tibetologist Claude Arpi.

Some hints of a change of thinking among the Tibetan community came in a recent statement by Lobsang Sangay, the President of the Tibetan government-in-exile. Speaking at the Indo-Tibet foundation in New Delhi on May 17, Sangay said that the Dalai Lama would pick his successor in his lifetime. “He (the Dalai Lama) says that he will decide at the age of 90, but I think it should happen sooner and I think it is likely to happen.”

While the Dalai Lama did not specify the nature of the ceremonies that will begin in the next two years, scholars say it is likely to be prayers and tantric rituals in Buddhist monasteries asking for his reincarnation. There’s one other significant departure – the 15th Dalai Lama, unlike the 14 preceding ones, would be chosen while his predecessor was still alive.

The Dalai Lama’s recent statements assume significance in the light of China’s growing intransigence and its outright rejection of limited autonomy for Tibet. Beijing has, in recent years, called the Dalai Lama a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ and lodged a strong protest over his visit to Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang monastery in April this year.

The Dalai Lama’s 2011 statement ended with a warning aimed at preventing China from foisting a successor on the Tibetan people as it did with the Panchen Lama in 1995. ‘Bear in mind, apart from the reincarnation recognised through such legitimate methods, no recognition or acceptance should be given to a candidate chosen for political ends by anyone, including those in the People’s Republic of China.’ A fact reiterated in his August 9 statement where he indicated his successor would be chosen either in India or in Mongolia.

Mind if you may explain how a Communist, atheistic government can know the reincarnation of a great Buddhist master?  This government is known for killing off many great masters during their "Great Leap Forward" and still has its power hungry ways that are very deceitful including persecuting Muslim minorities.  So how is the government going to choose?  Do you mean to tell me Chenrezig can't have another emanations?  Are you telling me that you doubt the entire tradition of Dalai Lamas and the 14th Dalai Lama is a fake?  Then explain why Shugden protected this one on his escape to India if he is indeed a fake.  I'd like to see you try to defile your masters and lineage(that is if you have one as you claim and are not some troll deluding the sangha into schisms and is fated to be reborn in Avici)

One story is that what Dorje Shugden really did was EXPEL the 14th Dalai Lama from Tibet for ever.

He did not help the 14th to escape to India but deported the 14th Dalai Lama to India.   

"So how is the government (China) going to choose?"

They will use their "Golden Urn" method to chose their 15th Dalai Lama.

The names of the candidates are placed into a "Golden Urn" and then a name is chosen.

Just like the Dalai Lama's "Do Ball" method of divination.

If that's the case, how are politicians able to know how to perform a ritual and have the realization to do so?

In this story it was neither Dorje Shugden nor the Pehar who helped the Dalai Lama escape.

The Dalai Lama had for years denied that he was on their payroll until a "Freedom of Information" document revealed the truth.

The Dalai Lama had received millions of dollars from the CIA to help run their Tibetan mercenary army of over 2000

That's right the "Buddha of Compassion" was the CIA's "Buddha of Death".

The Dalai Lama's lineage from the 5th thru the 14th has "Blood on its hands".

I expect the same from the Dalai Lama's and CTA's 15th Dalai Lama.

The true 5th Dalai Lama's lineage was stolen from the other candidate for that position.

Stolen by greedy politicians and corrupt rich families all wanting their boy as the next 5th Dalai Lama.

The other candidate for the position of the 5th Dalai Lama was Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen aka Dorje Shugden.

It is Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who is the true Dalai Lama and not this fake "Buddha of Death" we now have and suffer under.

This will all be corrected by the Chinese chosen 15th Dalai Lama.

Dorje Shugden will be the next Tibetan born 15th Dalai Lama.

In the video, it is obvious that CIA is just using the Tibetans to annoy China, never intended to help them regain their country. So all these years of FreeTibet is just a lost cause and yet until today they still think that they have a chance? Even with the world accepting China to have the sovereign right to Tibet? Why bother and such a waste of effort and resources. Might as well change and look for ways to gain a strong presence in the Chinese ministry to regain control of Tibet. That would be a more feasible idea. And for the success of this, the DS ban will definitely need to be removed as DS lamas & pracitioners, especially the Panchen Lama who is already working closely with the Chinese government for the good of his people,
 will unite in fulfilling this cause.
