Would it be more effective to practice Dorje Shugden practices for a good job and money or Lord Dzambala? Isn't lord Dzambala the Buddha of wealth? Would practicing both be better or concentrating on one practice be better?
Do all buddhas who has a mongoose bring wealth?

Hi Shugdentruth
Yes, Dzambala's practice is a very good one for wealth also; actually, how Dzambala helps is at a very profound and meaningful level. He helps us most by helping us to open our mind and being more generous - that is the greatest and best cause to generate wealth. So whether we receive the wealth or not, the practice helps us become more generous, less stingey. Then, whether we have wealth or not, we are not grasping and as attached to money, and we are happier beings.

I believe that the Dharma protectors' practice is slightly different with regards to wealth. They help to bring us wealth in relation to our Dharma practice. In other words, it is a way of clearing an obstacle to our Dharma practice. For example, we may be so poor or in such need of money that we are forced to go out to work very tedious jobs and therefore not able to dedicate as much time to our spiritual practice. A Dharma protector like Dorje Shugden can help us to find a better paying job, so that we don't have to spend as much time at work, and can dedicate more of our time (and eventually even money) to Dharma. He does not grant us wealth just for the sake of wealth but so that it can aid us in our Dharma practice.

Also, there is a slightly different way in which these two practices are presented. Dzambala is a yidam practice, which is a deeper, meditational practice - the effects may seem to take longer to come but they are profound changes in our minds that are everlasting. Dharma Protectors are "closer" to us and the effects of their practice may seem to be quicker, but they may not be the end all. i.e. the wealth, resources or good conditions that come from a dharma protector's practice is not the end and that's the end of the practice. It is to create the necessary, comfortable conditions for us to be able to practice Dharma and gain the mind transformation and benefits of "deeper" practices like the yidam practices. It is like this: yidam practices become the central meditational focus of our practice and we strive to become of the same enlightened mind as our yidam; the Dharma protector practices are a supportive practice that pushes us towards the direction of the yidams.

Now, something special - Dorje Shugden is both. He manifests in this form as a Dharma protector but remember he is also an emanation of Manjushri / Yamantaka who are very powerful yidams too.

Oh no, beggar has gone off on a tangent!

Good luck!

Ditto on that...gaining wealth is just a side benefit. And yes our protector, Dorje Shugden is very efficacious in helping Dharma practitioners gain wealth/resources to whoever deem fit. Not to say Dzambala is not, it is just Dorje Shugden is much more quicker in giving you the results...but  remember they are "enlightened" so their main concern would be our Dharma practice and not giving us wealth per say.  So if the Buddhas do not see that giving you wealth will be good, for example, it will increase your ego or if it will pull you away from doing more Dharma, then I don't think they will grant us our wish. In fact it could probably turn out to be the opposite!

We're basically like kids, demanding and asking for this and that but when ask to make offerings, we would think twice or offer the least even if we could give more...that would be our measuring stick of how miserly we are and the very need for us to cut that and be more giving...cos that is the very causes for us to receive more. So whatever we may wish for we need to leave it up to the Buddhas, trust them and do not under estimate them by just praying for wealth and what they think is good for us.

We also on our part need to create the causes for the Buddhas to help us. It doesn't mean we pray for a better job but just sit there and do nothing, a great job will land on our laps. We also need to put in our effort and to create the causes for the Buddhas to help us.
So best is to pray and wish for higher aspirations like what beggar said...to be more giving, to be rich in our Dharma practice and to have the condicive situations that allows us to do more Dharma practice.  The focus should be Dharma not wealth.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.. Our focus is to be enlighten ourselves.. once we attain this, we will not have a need for this or that, because we already have it.. I think Jesus said these things as well (A rich man cannot enter into heaven, because there is no room for his wants)

Ghandi said it best when it was said, "we have enough for everyones need, not everyones greed."

But maybe If you can handle it, like Beggar Said, Dorje Shugden or Dzambala will give it to you.. some people make puja tailsmans and wear it.. I dont know, I dont want to offend anyone by saying that statement..
