The Dalai Lama accepts failure of his approach regarding Tibet
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:06:05 AM »
Oh yes as this short article enumerates if the Dalai Lama can admit that he has been wrong about the method to engage China, surely he can also one day say that about the ban. Dorje Shugden lamas, practitioners and organisations are doing nothing but bringing happiness and peace to the world, should be an easier thing to do than  admitting the the failure in engaging with the Chinese right.

Perhaps the Dalai is getting the Dorje Shugden practitioners to make a lot of effort to purify their karma and collect the merit before he will let it go. But one thing for sure he has made Dorje Shugden well known in the world.

Throughout the years of the Shugden-ban a number of things really did not make sense. A lot of statements, decision and actions that HHDL took vis-a-vis Dorje Shugden split his own people as well as his Sangka whom he loves, undermined his own authority and credibility, and made himself a target of ridicule and hypocrisy and isolated himself  from his teachers.

A lot of Shugden practitioners suffered in the process and there is no doubt about. However as much as I disliked what was happening to the Shugden practitioners, I could not help but think that there is a bigger picture that being played out. A bigger picture that was planned all along. HHDL could not have made such blatant mistakes.

Looking at how China has embraced Buddhism and how the Shugden practice has spread, and also looking at how full of resolve the Shugden practitioners have become, and how Buddhism and Shugden practice have had to find homes in so many foreign countries, and looking at how sites like this dorjeshugden.com have stepped up to turn the tide...all this controversy have been good for the spread of Buddhism and the Shugden practice...I wonder if it brings a sad but contented smile to HHDL's face. Perhaps this had to be done.

If all this was planned by HHDL, then he has absorbed a lot of difficulties unto himself for the good of the Buddha dharma and all sentient beings. How does HHDL, without an army, tackle and subdue an immensely powerful enemy who yields tremendous firepower? An enemy that was totally against religion (Recall Mao's quote" All religion are poison)? By skillful means. By wisdom exercised with guile. And with the co-operation of the great Protector Buddha,  Dorje Shugden.

China has finally reached a stage where their people are hungry for religion, hungry for a religious guide.  The Dalai Lama can be their guide and they will have balance in their lives that they are so desperately looking for. From that way, the Dalai Lama can actually "rule" China as he did with the west if he presents himself "properly" to the Chinese, with an angle that the Chinese government would be happy with, because the next generation of government officials are coming up, and they are more liberal than the previous one and they do need to fill up their spiritual life.

The Dalai Lama's approach so far, wasnt really for the independence of Tibet but rather to appease the various Tibetan groups who have been asking WHY ISNT THE TIBETAN GOVT NOT DOING MORE for the last 40-50 years or so. They only want independence and not for the spiritual growth of Buddhism. What was the Dalai Lama to do?

The Dalai Lama making this statement looks like another sign that the ban will be lifted soon. I can feel all that he needs to do now is to wait for the right time to lift the ban.
