Atisha Dipankar Peace Gold Award 2013
Atisha Dipankar happens to be one of the most inspiring symbols of Bengali heritage. Besides his erudite manifestation as a Buddhist spiritual teacher, he is highly regarded for his multi-dimensional concept of human perception as well. The impact of his teachings transcended the borders of Bengal to reach deep into Great China. According to historian Ramesh Chandra Majumdar Atisha Dipankar has written two hundred books in his life time.

The great scholar was born in 982 A.D. at Bajrajogini of Bikrampur under Munshiganj district of Bangladesh. Under the Royal invitation he went to Tibet in 1042.

He contributed a lot there for the propagation of education, religion, philosophy as well as society and culture for which he is highly regarded. In 1054 he breathed his last in Tibet at the age of 73. His remains have been preserved at the Royal Museum in Tibet in an effort to immortalize him in the history. Thanks for sharing this info, Losangshenpin. Are you a student of the 25th Serkong Tritul Rinpoche? From what I have observed, the 25th Serkong Tritul Rinpoche has been pioneering his own school of Kadham Trichen, and recognising his own team of Rinpoches, including the 18th Dromtug Rinpoche. The Kadham Trichen school has strong sponsors which must be evidence of how Dorje Shugden has been helping them to expand.

Atisha is a good name for this award and is a link to Dorje Shugden as HH Trijang Rinpoche, one of the most renowned Dorje Shugden lamas, if not the most renowned, is a recognised incarnation of Atisha.

I really rejoice for the recipients of the Atisha award. It is very good to know that although the Bengals are technically not Buddhists, but it is nice to see them promoting Lama Atisha in this way. I hope that they would return to their Buddhist roots one day and reconnect with Buddhism. What is equally nice to know is that Serkong Tritul's works in Taiwan are so big that even people in india actually recognize him to be someone who contributed to humanity. I feel really proud of this Dorje Shugden Lama as well as his strength and resilience in not giving up even though he has been alienated by his own monastery.
