According to Helmut Gassner, translator for the 14th Dalai Lama for 17 years:
During those years I frequently accompanied Geshe Rabten on his trips and had the opportunity to meet many important personages, among them Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, the Junior Tutor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Trijang Rinpoche was in many ways one of the most important figures of his time. In the fifties he was the power behind His Holiness, a pillar of strength in the difficult and troubled times for the Tibetan people. This fact was well known to the Communist Chinese and so Trijang Lobsang Yeshe became their main enemy. It was also Trijang Rinpoche who taught His Holiness the Dalai Lama the concepts of Buddhism as well as the understanding of politics and mastering social skills.

While helping in the full education the Dalai Lama, he also always continued to teach and give empowerments to larger and larger numbers of monks at the Tantric colleges, Tashi Lhunpo, Ganden, Sera, Namgyal and elsewhere.

According to many disciples:
He was the most outstanding Master in every field of Buddhist teachings as well as Tibetan culture. He was the very source of all the fields of knowledge and a consultant in all of them. It was a well-known fact that he had really been the very epitome of a Master who had attained the highest realizations of the Sutras and Tantras, as well as an unsurpassable propagator.

There is a slight misunderstanding about this subject of the 2 Dagpo Rinpoche's, Tagpu Pemavajra, who the author of Infinite Aeons is, and who went to Tushita and returned with the close lineage instructions on Dorje Shugden. People are confusing the following people - Dagpo Kelsang Khedrup, Dagpo Jampel Lhundrup, Tagpu Pemavajra.

Trijang Rinpoche's commentary is to the poem called Infinite Aeons, and the author of that poem is Dagpo Kelsang Khedrup, NOT Tagpu Pemavajra, and NOT Dagpo Jampel Lhundrup.

Dagpo Kelsang Khedrup was the Guru of Dagpo Jampel Lhundrup who was the Guru of Je Pabongkhapa.

Tagpu Pemavajra was the Guru of Pabongkha Rinpoche who went to Tushita and brought back the special close lineage teachings on Dorje Shugden.

There are several reasons for the misunderstanding:

1) The names sound very similar, and it is easy to mix up if there is an abbreviated reference  such as  'Dagpo Rinpoche' for instance.

2) Admin of this website made a mistake in the English translation of Trijang Rinpoche's commentary to Infinite Aeons by putting a picture of Dagpo Jampel Lhundrup instead of Dagpo Kelsang Khedrup who is the actual author of Infinite Aeons.

The picture below is Dagpo Jampel Lhundrup, Pabongkha Rinpoche's Guru whom he spent 10 years receiving Lamrim transmissions from while doing Lamrim retreat. Dagpo Jampel Lhundrup is NOT the author of Infinite Aeons, nor is Tagpu Pemavajra.

Thank you admin for sharing with us this text. For those who want to know the origin and history of Dorje Shugden, this is a must-read. Trijang Rinpoche was the personal tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama and the teacher to many contemporary erudite Gelug Buddhist masters, what he said cannot be wrong.

In this text, Trijang Rinpoche also mentioned there will be a day we may see the Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden going against each other. If that happens, we should not lose faith in both. They are actually doing this to bring Dorje Shugden and the Dharma to many.

Come to think of it, it could be true. Because of the ban, Dorje Shugden followers are totally disconnected from the Dalai Lama. The Chinese government feels safe to support and provide them everything they need. The Chinese government also spends millions of dollars to refurbish the monasteries and assist them when there is a big teaching happening. The Dorje Shugden lamas' works are flourishing in Tibet because of the support from the Chinese government. If the Dorje Shugden lamas are still connected with the Dalai Lama, this will not be possible.

It is so wonderful that the long-awaited His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche autobiography is finally published! It was a book that shared many of Kyabje Rinpoche's live events and how he remains steadfast with dharma practice regardless the difficulties Kyabje Rinpoche faces in Tibet and India. It was a very inspiring book with many accounts of Dorje Shugden.

Given that the book was published by Wisdom Publication, own by FPMT Shugden and Lama Yeshe's traitors, the translator Sharpa Tulku of The Magical Play of Illusion: A Validation of Dorje Shugden, toned down a lot in the translations and in many occasions omitted the mention of Dorje Shugden but indirectly indicated Dorje Shugden was involved in the event. For example, on page 390, under the sub-header The Search of His Reincarnation, it mentioned that Trijang Rinpoche has advised Kungo Palden which oracles to consult for the search of his reincarnation. However, only Setrap was mentioned. When we read through the book, it is clear that Kyabje Rinpoche has a lot of confidence and trust in Dorje Shugden. He even consulted Dorje Shugden for the fleeing of Tibet. So it is obvious that Dorje Shugden oracle was consulted for his reincarnation as well.

I believe a complete translation will be published in the future in order for the truth to be revealed even more thoroughly. For now, we can make do with it and be inspired!
