Its a very interesting topic to talk about over cafe! And do you know the name of the 'company' who started Death Cafe? IMPERMANENCE! It is really a good topic for people who are religious or not religious. People tend to do more rather than spending and wasting their time.
We think that talking about death is a great way to spend some time. We're keen to support people to do it more.
One way to do this to to hold your own Death Cafe. So far around 25 people in 6 countries have offered their own Death Cafe. As you can see from the feedback on our blog they tend to be rather lovely events.
Holding your own Death Cafe is cheap, easy and fun. All you need is a facilitator/s, a space, some attendees and refreshments. Of course we encourage you to add your unique twist to make the event your own.

Death Cafe is a 'social franchise' and people working with us and using the Death Cafe name have signed up to our principles. These are that our conversations about death are offered
On a not for profit basis, though to be sustainable we try to cover expenses through donations and fundraising
In an accessible, respectful and confidential space, free of discrimination, where people can express their views safely
With no intention of leading participants towards any particular conclusion, product or course of action
Alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!

Introducing Impermanence
Impermanence is a not-for profit social enterprise that undertakes innovative work around death and dying. Impermanence was started in 2012 by Jon Underwood.
Impermanence exists because of a belief that if we were more sorted about death, the world would be a much, much better place.
Impermanence has 3 projects at present:
Death Cafe - death discussion in a safe and supportive environment that has reached circa 400 people in 5 countries to date.
Dying Matters - a one-stop shop for people in the last 12 months of life to access local services, information, advice and a supportive community.
Funeral Advisor - a partnership with the Natural Death Centre aimed at empowering the consumer and making the funeral industry transparent.
