Sigh...seems like anything which can earn some quick bucks people will do it. Yes, we needed money in order to exist in this world today, but in this way? Being a Buddhist and religious country aren't they afraid of the negative karma?or the feeling of having money is so strong til we are only looking at short term leisure and goal.

the sad thing is that many people tend to believe that these kumanthongs are acquired and created in a good way (how good can it get, based on the methods used to create them?) and some people who get these even say that it's like adopting a baby boy back home, innocently, without being aware of the inhumane ways of how these kumanthongs are being made. Unfortunately, for many, ignorance is bliss and they just do not want to deal with the reality that come with kumanthongs and only want the protection or luck that they give.

According to believes, Kumantong is a children spirit living inside a statue or amulet. They are children’s spirits from abortion, miscarriage or accident. These spirits cannot take rebirth immediately after their death, so they will be roaming round. That’s the reason why the Thai monks make Kumantong and chant the children’s spirits into the statues or amulets so that once they go inside they can help or protect anyone who keeps them.  So this could be the reason why this temple has so many fetuses that are kept for a long period of time.

There are also instances where they are unable to help the owner because of the owner's bad karma.

I can't comprehend how this work though. I would think that if the spirits of the babies were unable to help the owners due to the owner's bad karma, it is actually more beneficial for the owners. It is when the spirits are able to do horrible things for the owners, it amplifies and creates more negative karma for the owner. From what I know, negative creates more negative while positive creates more positive.

What a strange story. How awful that such things can happen at a Buddhist temple. It shows that not every one is holy even in holy places. But it is possible the abbot did not know what was going on in the temple. The only thing they can do now is to pray for the fetuses for them to have a good rebirth.

It's really sad  and unbelievable to hear the big amount of foetus been found in a temple.. .. in Buddhism its stated that If a woman abort her child she will be reborn in the hell realm. If a person is regretful of her evil conduct and seek  to repent her offenses.... I wonder can it be purified by engaging in dharma work and doing her practice well the rest of her life? Is there anything this woman can do when she is alive  to save herself from falling into the hell realm or at  the least lessen the negative karma created?
