Switzerland Leads the Free World in Friendship with China
« on: February 20, 2017, 10:39:26 PM »
Dear friends

Read this eye opening and interesting article by Ashok Rao titled Switzerland is on China's Side. Recently, Switzerland issued a new policy whereby they require Tibetan refugees living there to identify themselves as Chinese or as of Chinese origin, while previously they were allowed to identify themselves as Tibetan or stateless.

It is about time that the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) helps the Tibetan refugee in exile by befriending China and stop condemning China at every turn. Because Switzerland government's decision on the Tibetan refugee status may be followed by other countries in the free world. China's influence is growing fast around the world and this is the reality that the CTA and Tibetan refugees have to accept.

-----------------------
Switzerland is on China’s Side

It’s high time that the Tibetan leadership stop advertising how bad they think China is. They drone on about how China steps on human rights, how unfair they are, and how China doesn’t give its citizens the religious freedom they deserve.

Whether any of this is true or false is no longer the point. What should be their main concern is how the six million people in Tibet can continue their unique cultural identity, and also somehow connect with and repatriate themselves with the Tibetans around the world, creating a unified culture and people. This is the only logical way that all things ‘Tibetan’ will continue to exist amidst the turbulent seas of the modern world.

More than ever, such efforts are important for the Tibetan leaders, given that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is now in his 80s. Rather than antagonise China, they should be doing their utmost to negotiate and make friends, before they no longer have the worldwide prestige of the Dalai Lama to rely upon. It’s clearly obvious in the world of politics that the Tibetan leadership’s legitimacy derives strictly from the very same prestige and fame, and if they had any sense of forethought and care for their people, they would be making full use of it while they have the time.

The 400-year-old institution of the Dalai Lama, god king of Tibet, has always been based on reincarnated succession. So with the current 14th Dalai Lama in his 80s, it is imperative for the Tibetan leadership to make friends with China, lest the worst occurs before the god king returns in his next holy form.

However, one doesn’t become friends with someone by hitting them on the head, or spitting on them at the turn of every corner. If the Tibetan leadership keeps running around, telling people “hey, Tibetans are not being treated well in Tibet,” while at the same time screaming for autonomy, does that make sense? Why would you want to be autonomous in a place where you aren’t treated well? To advocate autonomy yet on the same breath protest being mistreated in Tibet, doesn’t make an ounce of sense.

So, for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his ‘ministers’ to ask for autonomy, which necessarily involves being a part of China, but at the same time gang bashing China at every turn, at every meeting, at every political gathering with every leader of the free world, and in the media, it doesn’t make logical sense.

However, if you are seeking complete independence, it’s a different kettle of fish, a completely different story. The reason you would seek independence is because your people are not being treated correctly and you don’t foresee them being treated correctly in the future. But then, why does His Holiness advocate meaningful autonomy?

This article therefore, part of a trend, portrays that a county famed for their neutrality when it comes to international politics, war, banks and political views, are now shifting towards the One-China policy and enforcing it. A nation such as Switzerland which is considered wealthy, sovereign and developed is now in alignment with China’s new world order.

A simple question to ask would be: what benefit does Switzerland or any other country receive to side with the Tibetans besides a moral feel-good factor, kind of like an instant adrenaline rush? Besides that, there is absolutely no political, financial and economic benefit to side with the Tibetan diaspora. But it would make perfect sense to side with China, from whom they would receive such benefit. So, this is more bad news for the Tibetan government in exile, headquartered in Dharamsala (affectionately called Dhasa).

Switzerland is now enforcing all Tibetans resident in their country to identify themselves as Chinese or originating from China. Previously they were allowed to be identify themselves as citizens of ‘Tibet’ or ‘Stateless’. This is a huge blow to Tibetans who are always declaring that they are the people from a sovereign Tibetan nation. Switzerland’s ‘simple’ act of enforcing Tibetans to identify with originating from China says it all. Clearly the Swiss government does not or will not recognize that Tibet is sovereign but always has been and continues to be a part of China. This should rangle many Tibetan supporters and freedom fighting ‘rangzen’ advocates.

It is a huge blow to the ‘Tibetan government in exile’ or more commonly known as the CTA. This should bring them backwards considerable after years of advocating their stance against China. We can see more and more nations siding with China and not with Tibet’s claim of sovereignty. Switzerland, which houses the largest settlement of Tibetan refugees in Europe is inadvertently setting a trend for the rest of the countries that house Tibetans as well as for the rest of the world. It is very important Tibetan leaders stop antagonizing China, not from a lack of free speech but for practical reasons. Tibetan leaders must stop irritating China and become friends. It is their only hope. They should be humble and reach out before it’s too late.

The Tibetan Autonomous Region’s future, the Dalai Lama visiting his homeland again, and the preservation of the Tibetan culture and religion will be factored in by the behavior of the waning reputation of the Tibetan government in exile. If governments can be compared to the cycle of the moon, it is clear, given the current state of affairs, that the Tibetan government in exile is a moon which will never wax again.

Thanks Michaela for sharing the excellent, deeply thought article.

The author understands better than many Shugdenpas that the so-called “CTA” owes whatever power it has only and strictly to the evil dalie (and therefore to his Western puppet masters).

The author also understands better than many Shugdenpas that the so-called Middle Way is just a farce to cover the evil dalie's thinly disguised, obnoxiously violent approach to China.

The author also understands better than many Shugdenpas that the evil dalie's actual purpose is purely a separatist one rather than the ridiculously propagandized “meaningful autonomy”.

And finally the author understands very well that the only meaningful direction to be taken by the mass of self-exiled Tibetans is to return to their homeland and there become good citizens.

The only thing the author failed to explain is why supporting the anti-China terrorist separatists would be any kind of “moral feel-good factor”, and why removing such support would not be morally relevant.

Well, I hate to say this, but money speaks louder than ideals. Honestly, what do people get by befriending the Central Tibetan Administration? Here is another news piece telling why Switzerland does it.

Chinese corporate spending spree benefits Switzerland

Investments by Chinese companies in Switzerland quadrupled last year to reach $4.8 billion (CHF4.8 billion), according to research from consultants Baker McKenzie. The report excludes the proposed $43 billion takeover of Syngenta by ChemChina, which still awaits final regulatory approval.

To put that mega-deal into perspective, Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in the whole of Europe totalled $46 billion in 2016 (up 90% on 2015) and $48 billion (+189%) in North America, says Baker McKenzie.

Last year, China’s HNA Aviation Group snapped up Swiss air transport support companies Gategroup and ST Technics. The Chinese company had previously bought Swissport. Other significant deals in recent years include the takeover of iconic aluminium bottle maker Sigg by Haers Vacuum Containers.

Other Chinese companies have invested in Switzerland without taking over Swiss firms. Leading Chinese software company Neusoft has run its European headquarters from Appenzell since 2009.
Speaking to swissinfo.ch at the World Economic Forum last month, Neusoft chairman Liu Jiren said to expect more Chinese FDI in the coming years as they sought to diversify into cutting-edge service sectors.

Gao Hucheng, Trade Minister of the People's Republic of China and Swiss Economics Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann shake hands on successful Sino-Swiss trade relations.

Chinese FDI in North America & Europe 2016

“The image of Switzerland in China is of a very stable country that is very transparent, friendly and tops all the rankings in ease of doing business. I expect more Chinese companies, which want to expand abroad, will choose Switzerland as their destination,” he said.

Chinese corporate investment in Europe and North America has exploded from $2.6 billion to $94 billion in the space of a decade, with more than half of that growth being recorded in the past three years, according to Baker McKenzie.

But the consultancy group predicts a slowdown in FDI growth from China this year as global regulators take a more critical look at takeovers and the Chinese authorities try to slow the amount of capital leaving the country. Its report states that 30 proposed deals, worth more than $74 billion, were scrapped in Europe and North America last year.

“Greater political and regulatory scrutiny makes for a more challenging outlook in the near-term. Political risk assessment and regulatory planning is increasingly important as part of an overall deal strategy,” said Thomas Gilles, head of Baker McKenzie’s EMEA-China Group.

It is nice to see that the “Chinese corporate spending spree” benefits Switzerland not only economically, but also morally.

Indeed, being more independent from the US-based financial mafia's pressure, which in the past compelled Switzerland to accept Tibetan separatist terrorist CIA operatives as “refugees”, now Switzerland is more free to follow the rules of international law, and only accept refugees who duly recognize their Chinese original citizenship, and therefore explicitly distance themselves from terrorism and separatism.

This is the beauty of moral economic growth, as lead by China, as opposed to the immoral financial blackmail, which is the trademark of the US-based financial mafia.

The fact that Tibet is within China can’t be denied. Whether Tibetan leadership or any other Tibetan agree it is the reality that must face. Keep bashing China to claim their freedom is definitely not working as we can see the result after so many years. China is growing stronger and we can see many other countries are befriending China for greater benefits. I totally agree with what has been shared by Ashok Rao.

After so long of seeking for freedom what had Tibetan leader achieve or even convince the world what they have done to protect or to provide better welfare for their people? The fund that they have gotten from the west how have it been properly used to support their own people? How after so many year the Tibetan leaders still unable to be self-sustain?

Switzerland moves to enforce all Tibetan resident in their country to identify as Chinese is just the mater of time and I believe other country will do the same in very soon of time. How long more to wait for Tibetan to gain what they dream for after so long of fight and it doesn’t seem to work by banging the hard way.

Looking at how the Tibetan leaders separate and ostracised their own people using religious practice such as Dorje Shugden already good enough to tell the world how can they be success in managing their country and people. Instead of uniting their people they spend more time and money to create so much materials to ban the practice and uses religious practice as the reason for the fall of Tibet. How ridiculous it can be but this is the truth. Who will support Tibet now when they took away the religious freedom from their people and at the same time shouting for freedom for their country.

I really hope the Tibetan leaders can really wake up and realise that time is no longer at their side and more and more countries leaders will join China. If the Tibetan leaders do not play smart now it will be too late.

Dear Tenzin K

I do agree with you. Tibetan leadership should face the reality that they have nothing much to offer to a country like Switzerland while China can offer economic benefits to Switzerland. After 58 years of hosting Tibetan refugees with no sight of a breakthrough from the side of Tibetan leadership in exile to secure the Tibetan independence/ autonomy, Switzerland has been more than gracious, and nobody can blame them if they would like to encourage the Tibetan refugees to become Chinese citizens.

After 58 years in exile, the CTA definitely should stop bashing and instead should start to befriend China for the sake of the Tibetan refugees that they are supposed to protect. They should stop creating conflict within the Tibetan community and instead should gather them together and improve their welfare. Only with this, the CTA can increase their integrity and reputation in the world, and they can use this integrity to gather support and convince China to talk with them and hopefully secure autonomy.

Same with what others has said, I do agree that Tibetan Leadership should make peace with China and work together with CHina on how to build Tibet and work for the best benefit of their citizen.

Tibetan Leadership has been advertising how bad China is, how hard they are fighting to get back their country and how much they had suffered. Despite with all these bad mouthing, China is still growing stronger and stronger, they are trying to get the world to stand on their side to claim back their country, but unfortunately, it did not go according to their wish, in fact, more and more countries are siding with CHina. Well, even if I'm from any of the country, I would have pick China as well, because what benefit I can get by siding Tibet as compare to China, it is very obvious.

Tibet has been promoting on how bad China is, it has already passed so many years, what do they get? What have they achieved? they get nowhere, so even if they continue with this attitude, they will only waste their time and effort and till the end, they still gets nowhere.

I really hope CTA would realized this and change their meaningless plans.
