Some very exciting news!! We are now ready to present our new interactive website, which we have been working very hard on for the past few months.

In addition to the new design, it now includes the ability for you to leave comments to share your thoughts. Our website also has a 'Testimonials' page with heartfelt quotes from the abbots of the monasteries, as well as other Rinpoches, Lamas, and monastery administrators. Another upgrade is our payment option. The new ‘Credit Card’ choice will now allow recurring payments for those countries that PayPal did not allow, and include the countries that PayPal did not accept, such as Brazil and The Netherlands. We appreciate the commitment of those of you who have been manually making their sponsorship payments each month, and those patiently waiting to set this up for the first time.

We are also very excited to present a new addition to the Sangha Jewels Project!
Over the past year many of you have communicated to us the wish to become more involved with the Sangha Jewels Project. Listening to your ideas, we have now added a new component, Sangha Jewels Action Teams.
Sangha Jewels Action Teams are individuals or groups that function as Sangha Jewels Project satellites in their local communities. They plan and host various fundraisers in their towns, centers, churches, clubs, etc. As we are expanding and adding additional projects to support the monasteries, these teams play a vital role in our abilities to offer assistance and in increasing financial support for these projects. They are also instrumental in introducing the Sangha Jewels Project to new audiences.
We have been asked for assistance with a few things this month. There are projects that we will be launching right away. One is to raise the funds to pay for the salary for a full time nurse at the Shar Gaden clinic. As you may know the new clinic opened last year and to date has been staffed by monastery monks under the supervision of a visiting doctor. Having a nurse on staff will not only improve the health and safety of the monks, but also be able to offer training to the monastery staff. We have also been asked for assistance in purchasing new textbooks, both English and Tibetan, for the upcoming term at Shar Gaden Monastery. We will assist with online fundraising for these projects as well, but the bulk of the fundraising will be done by our action teams.

Please visit the Action Team page on our new website for more information on these projects and the steps to come on board! Many hands together and all things are possible.
If you would like to request assistance for a need at your monastery please contact us at [email protected] with 'Fundraiser Request' in the subject line.

Losang Tenpa, thank you for keeping us abreast with the newest development in the website for the Sangha Jewels Project. The website is very user friendly and I would add that the layout and design is neat and the messages are crystal clear. I wish you and your hardworking team every success to raise the resources needed to fund the education and expenses of the young monks under the wings of your project.

Update on Losang Tenzin, the young Shar Gaden monk who broke his arm and needed surgery.

'WOW! Amazing! In 24 hours, not only have we met our goal, we have raised $1,320. Your kindness and generosity have not only enabled us to help with all current and expected future medical expenses, there is money to put aside as an 'emergency medical fund'. Losang Tenpa plans to go with Losang Tenzin when he goes back to the hospital for his next appointment and will keep us updated. Losang Tenzin's room teacher, Dakpa Lungtok, is overwhelmed by this. He is not really familiar with the internet and didn't quite understand how this could happen, and so grateful. People are still donating so we will let this run until tomorrow night. Thank you all for your support.'

 :)

Losang_Tenpa,
Why is it that you hardly comment on anything else about the ban or on any other thread? I only see you always trying to collect money for your cause but I am just wondering what happened. You used to care more.

Actually, I have realized that we all have different parts to play in this. Maybe my part is to work at building bridges with our sangha, and finding ways to support them.

Not sure how this can be interpreted as me not caring or caring less than I used to. Can you please explain how raising funds for our monks and helping with these projects shows that I care less than I used to?
Also, there is much that I do that is behind the scenes, that no one on the outside knows about, so not sure how you can judge how much or how little I care based on the posts I make here. This Sangha Jewels Project is only one of many projects that I have been blessed to participate in.

I have a unique opportunity. I am here at Shar Gaden Monastery. I help where needed and never refuse to assist the monastery when asked. This seems to be my part. My part may not be to join the internet debates, protests etc. This sits fine with me.

:)

One other thing. This is not 'MY' cause. This is the cause of our sangha. The abbots, geshes, lamas and rinpoches support this project.

So, my main point is that some of us can spend much time online debating, posting news reports on facebook and posting threads in this forum etc...while others have different ways to handle this issue. Your way may not fit me and my way not fit you, but as long as we all are doing what we can, why be critical?

I think supporting Shugden monastics is a very helpful cause; I am wondering if there are any nuns that need help/receive help as well, as I always remember we should not leave Tara emanations and future emanations out:).
