Pro-China Group Harming Cause, Says Tibetan Leader
« on: July 08, 2014, 01:14:37 AM »

This article by Hindustani Times on 8th July 2014 is bias and pro-Dalai Lama.  We should discern what is correct and what is not.  The disunity and disharmony in the Tibetan community are created by the Tibetan leadership themselves.  Please do not blame on Shugden Buddhists.  The Tibetan leadership should lift the ban and restore unity and harmony for its society.  Why focus their energy and time on Dorje Shugden when they can work towards leading their folks home?

As the exile Tibetan community across the globe on Sunday celebrated 79th birthday of 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gytso, Sikyong (Tibetan Prime Minister) Lobsang Sangay on Sunday expressed concern over the politically-motivated smear campaign against the spiritual leader, terming it a threat to existing harmony and unity among Tibetans.

“Given His Holiness influence and prestige, perhaps it is sadly inevitable that some group of people would seek to malign him,” said the Dalai Lama’s political successor Sangay addressing the Tibetans gathered to celebrate the birthday of spiritual leader at Tsuglakhang tempe courtyard in McLeodganj.

“In particular, the Dholgyal (Shugden) followers have launched a politically-driven smear campaign against His Holiness in the name of religious freedom and human rights,” he said.

Maintaining that sectarianism and fanaticism by antigroup would jeopardize the exiting harmony and unity among all the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, Sangay said, “The Dholgyal followers have turned into a political tool for the Chinese Communist Party.”

“Considering the larger interest of the Buddha Dharma, and in particular the threat against the very existence of Tibetans as a people, Tibetans must wisely discern between true and untrue,” Sangay called upon his brethren.

Expressing our deepest reverence and respect for the spiritual leader on the occasion, he said that the Kashag (cabinet) joined the millions of Dalai Lama’s admirers across the globe in wishing him good health and long life.

He said that the 14th Kashag was observing 2014 as the “Year of the Great 14th Dalai Lama” to express boundless appreciation of the spiritual leader’s great accomplishment for the cause of Tibet and the promotion of peace, inter-faith harmony and humane values throughout the world.

Elaborating about the life of the Dalai Lama, Sangay said people today are united like an iron ball regardless of their regional or religious affiliations and in spite of the Chinese occupation. It is mainly due to the enlightened leadership of the spiritual leader, he added.

“The power of Tibetan people’s unity today is far greater than the recent past and is comparable to those days when the three Dharma kings reigned over Tibet,” said Sangay. The exile PM said that the Dalai Lama envisioned a united Tibetan community firmly rooted in both tradition and modernity.

“He began by laying a strong foundation for the sustenance of Tibetan people as well as the preservation of the Tibetan identity and ensured that future generations of Tibetans acquire modern education while remaining rooted in traditional values,” said Sangay, adding that it was due to reforms introduced by the Dalai Lama that have transformed entire exile Tibetan community into a society with deeply rooted democratic values and culture.

Meanwhile a colorful cultural programme was presented by the Tibetan artists from Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts on the occasion. Dalai Lama is presently in Ladakh to confer the 33rd Kalachakra Initiation.

I am curious how we got to be considered the pro-China group when the CTA has been trying to sell Tibet to China for a long time--- and even says they will have autonomy under mother China or whatever--- so---- I don't want to follow China.
I don't want to have government and politics dictated by the Chinese government, The Dalai Lama politician, the U.S. government, any other government.
But the CTA, which is used to the Dalai Lama dictating government and meddling big time in everything--- the most alpha male monk strutting around telling everyone what to do.... doesn't think it's weird if China will be over them, so then if people return to Tibet under "autonomy" we will have
 1. the most alpha group from CTA micromanaging everyone and telling them what to do
 2. The government of China telling the CTA what to do, and the people of Tibet what to do
 3. People in politicized monasteries trying to gain control of what to do

Okay I understand that people in some parts of the world are not yet used to the idea of separation of religion and state.  It would be good if we could help them understand this concept so they could make a more informed decision about what sort of system they want for governing themselves, what rights they would like protected, etc.

[size=10ptThe parliament-in-exile has passed four resolutions against Dorje Shugden practitioners spelling out one political restriction after another including the inability for a Shugden practitioners to hold office in the government sectors. Is that not political on the side of the CTA? How Buddhist is that?  :-X  [/size]

I did not think the demonstrations were done by people who had nothing else better to do, as spiritual aspirants we all have our practice to do and many people to help and benefit.

The demonstration is just a reaction to broken or no more communication between the CTA and the Dorje Shugden worshippers. If the CTA is ready to talk the Dorje Shudgen people will be there. until then people will still demonstrate against this draconian ban.

CTA has always claimed that pro-China group is harming the cause and Dorje Shugden practitioners are pro-China. However, I would say that CTA is that one that causing the split in the Tibetan community, with the ban on Dorje Shugden, they are causing harm to their own Tibetans and causing the disharmony to the society.

Please STOP using the China as an excuse. Even a Tibetan youth see that points and asked during a recent dialogue between the Tibetan students and Mr Lobsang Sangay. (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/features/tibetan-youths-question-dorje-shugden-ban/) One student told that he thought the Dorje Shugden practitioners are not for the sake or money from China government. He has some friends who are Dorje Shugden practitioners and are poor. If they have received money from China government, they would not be so poor. Another student asked why are there signs on restaurants and shops discriminating against Dorje Shugden practitioners.
These students who stayed in exile has experienced and witness the pain and discrimination faced by their friends who are practicing Dorje Shugden.

Why CTA still want to blame Dorje Shugden group and link Dorje Shugden practitioners with China?? CTA should use their time and effort wisely in looking and executing strategies that will benefit the Tibetan in the economy, social, education, medical aspects. Wake up CTA! Please do not blame others! Lift the ban and unite all the Tibetan!

Am I missing out a link somewhere? The CTA was the one who enforced the ban on Dorje Shugdan practice, there by separating the Tibetans-in-exiled into Shugden practitioners and non-Shugden practitioners. The signs posted on restaurants and shops barring Shugden devotees from the business premises were put up by the CTA. Is that how the CTA is creating harmony and uniting the Tibetans?
Can the CTA come out with a good explanation on how and why the Shugden followers are campaigning against His Holiness the Dalai Lama? To my simple mind, it looked more like the CTA is looking for a scapegoat for their failure to get Tibet back from the Chinese.

well said Tenzin, it is very obvious that CTA is looking for a scapegoat. Trying to inflict whatever excuses to cover their own wrongdoings which is being exposed day by day. Tibetans are no longer living under the ignorant mind nowadays, there internet and people do catch up on daily news and maintain close contact with each other. So do not create something out of nothing to cover your own wrongdoings. Stop suppressing Dorje Shugden practice!

It is scary, very scary to think of how the information, the news, presented doesn't reflect the reality of the sufferings of Tibetans oppressed by the ban. According to the article Dorje Shugden practitioners and China are causes of Tibetan circumstances, and a threat. If I am a casual reader I could conclude that CTA is an innocent party and being harmed. Dorje Shugden practitioners and China are to be blamed because they are harmful. What a great way for CTA to promote unity against a common "enemy" by hiding what they have done in the past.

"A threat to existing harmony and unity among Tibetans."? The 3 Dharma Kings would turn in their graves if they know the current disharmony and disunity of Tibetans. Who caused the disharmony? Who can mend this very same disharmony but have not don't so?
May we all practice the Dharma well and offer up to the Dalai Lama so that we may have the merits to have the ban lifted as soon as possible. Only we through our practice and skillful methods can lift the ban and return the harmony and unity to Tibetans.
