Michael Palin 'Himalaya'
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:42:57 PM »
Just watched the episode tonight on 'Dave' channel, based on McLeod Ganj, and noticed that when he was in a thangka painting studio, there was a thangka of Dorje Shugden behind him.

At least I think there was - anyone else notice it?

I have the DVD of "Himalaya" by Michael Palin but I haven't come across the episode on Mcleod Ganj. I'll watch it again. In Programme Four titled "The Roof of the World", there are many episodes on the monasteries in Tibet including the Nechung monastery. There is also an interview with the Dalai Lama and we are shown scenes from H.H's personal film of his escape from Tibet.

"The Yatra Trilogy", a documentary on the practice of the three vehicles, produced and directed by John Bush also shows beautiful scenery of Tibet in the part called "Vajra Sky Over Tibet". I think it was made in support of the Tibetan Government in Exile. The criticism of the Chinese Government and its policies in Tibet is quite overt.
