I was thing about a point that one of the recent threads brought up. In this thread,
http://www.dorjeshugden.com/forum/index.php?topic=2552.0 it is said that the ban caused students to denounce their teachers and many high lamas such as Trijang Rinpoche and Pabongkha Rinpoche who are teachers to millions of students have been demonized and suddenly their teachers are bad and evil. How would these students feel? why must this happen? I have always wondered on one point: the Dalai Lama lost Reting Rinpoche and Reting Rinpoche and the Dalai Lama was extremely close, Reting Rinpoche was like a father to the Dalai Lama and suddenly, this father figure was a criminal and has to be locked up underneath the dungeon where he stayed. How can anyone reconcile with this kind of situations? The effect this had on the Dalai Lama was profound. In his writings about Dorje Shugden, this is revealed very clearly with his stance on Guru devotion: that it is okay for the Guru to make a mistake, and also enacting a ban that destroyed the faith of many in their own teacher. The results resemble the cause: he was forced to face the fact that his perfect Guru, the Guru that was the closest to him is a criminal! How could that be? How can he reconcile with that?
The fact that Reting Rinpoche was accused and also the fact that everyone else during that time allowed Reting Rinpoche, the precious Guru of the Dalai Lama to die in such a painful way, surely would have generated a lot of negative Karma. In this aspect, it seems that the Dalai Lama is reacting to what happened to Reting Rinpoche by enacting this ban.
But, before we reach that conclusion, we should also have a look at this quote by the 5th Dalai Lama:
"To the mind that is hallucinating, the opposite mind, one's mistakes is manifested in the Guru's actions".
CTA is horrible to destroy the Dalai Lama's Guru...why love the Dalai Lama but destroy his Guru? What gives? If you really love the Dalai Lama, why destroy his Gurus? Reting Lama first, and then Trijang Rinpoche...sigh.
