I would like to share a poem from Martin Niemöller.

At this point in time, I find it most appropriate although it may seem that I am digressing from our Dharma subject.

But before you are quick to judge, please bear with me and read on -

"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;

Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;

Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came...

Niemöller was a Christian cleric and a vocal critic of Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime of racial extermination - first it was the Communists/Unionists, then the Jews, and then Catholics that were persecuted in during their years in power.

His above poem is not limited to the time of Hitler, but tells a story of the universal truth that we are all interconnected.

We all have a moral duty to help or even defend one another, because there will come a day when you may need someone else's help - that's when you'll need a friend most of all.

Would anyone stand up and speak for you then?

Now, with Dharma and "Dharmic responsibility" - should not we care about one another and all others even more than just this sense of moral duty? Especially when we say we understand KARMA.

If we fear our own karma, we should also care about the karma of others. Because we are all inter-related.

In this circle of life, we are all interdependently-independent.

Hence, what goes around will definitely come around.

So, dear Friends of this sacred space, I humbly request that we please always encourage learning, sharing and giving.

Let us become true Dharma Ambassadors and Dorje Shugden Practitioners NOW.

HOPE, HARMONY, PEACE AND MUTUAL RESPECT should always reside where Dharma is practised.

This is why Guru, Buddha, Dharma & Sangha is a refuge for us all.

And for those who have nowhere else to go and no one else who can even speak to them about Dorje Shugden, we be always be their voice, may this place always be a haven for them.

When it becomes a haven for them, it will become a haven for all.

Let us be the bridge that will close the gaps between intolerance, misunderstandings and eternal loving kindness.

Let this space be as sacred and beautiful as just that.

May it truly be so.

Thank you  deeply from a very sentimental Helena.

Dear Helena,

Thank you for sharing this lovely poem and your personal thoughts. The world is degenerating at a faster pace than we could imagine. And it is so beautiful that someone like you could lift up the spirit of all who read and write in this sacred space where we all share something in common, for our dearest protector, Dorje Shugden.

We are all interconnected, becasue karma exists. May from this forum, we can help to generate more postitive casues to the many more who will be benefited from Dorje Shugden.

What an incredible Dharma teaching this is, Helena. I thank you.

This is the basis of all Buddhist teaching - our great dependencies on each other, whether we know it or acknowledge it or not. We fall into a trap of thinking that this problem is not my problem, that problem is his problem, and we divide up how we help people (or help ourselves, more like!). Think about it: how can we possibly become enlightened or even become good dharma practitioners, if we will help these people, this girl, that boy, this friend, but not that person because "it has nothing to do with me" or we don't know them, or we dislike them.

We are all aspiring towards Bodhicitta, this single key that will open up our hearts to anybody, no matter who they are and which will want to help them, no matter what they are going through. What a great attainment to work towards - imagine being able to see people not just as "communists" "jews" "trade unionists" etc but simply as another being just like us who is suffering. Just being able to have that insight is powerful enough.

Thank you, Helena.

This poem is beautiful, how well-written that it's apt even in a dharma context.

I've always tried to speak out for those who don't dare to, or needed support. In terms of speaking out as a Dorje Shugden practitioner...perhaps it's not quite the right time for some, no?

I'm going to share this on my Facebook page :) Hope you don't mind!

This is a nice worldly teaching that is steeped in Dharma meaning. For most of us these days, we commit the most potent negative and positive karmas with our mouths. Hence, there are times we should keep our mouths shut, ie when it comes to gossip, idle chatter and lashing back when people are harsh to us. There are also times when we should open our mouths, ie owning up to our mistakes, defending others, assisting others and praising and rejoicing in the qualities of others. Hence, what comes out or not come out of our mouths is a very strong message to others and our karma of where we want to be in this life and the next. Wonderful Dharmic meaning!

It is our true hope by understanding Dorje Shugden better, it removes the 'faults' of the lineage lamas. By the lineage lamas having no faults as wrongly described by the TGIE, people will gain faith in them and congregate to them for teachings. This is our hope. What prevents people from going to these lineage lamas is that they practice/teach Dorje Shugden. So if Dorje Shugden's practice is made clear, it will exonerate the holy lineage lamas. Then people will not criticize the lineage lamas. The lineage lamas alive today will not be seen as deviant, hence many will flock to recieve teachings from them. Far from being deviant, the lineage lamas are perfect vessels of BuddhaDharma. This website definitely promotes BuddhaDharma via Dorje Shugden.

We are very happy you can make Dorje Shugden well known in the world as it will definitely help the Lineage of Tsongkapa expand in this degenerate age.

It is rare to have a space where people from all walks of life and all over the world and we don't even know each other really, but through our love of Dharma and our Protector Dorje Shugden, we are having a comfortable place to share knowledge, inspiration, sadness, joy, hope, harmony, peace and mutual respect.

Thank you to the Ds.com people, the moderators and all the forum participants who sincerely strive to make this a safe place to be.

Love you all.
