Spiritual Director - His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche

The Trijang Buddhist Institute, beautifully situated in the rural Green Mountains of Central Vermont, was formally dedicated during a public inauguration in September 2004 to His Eminence Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche. Trijang Rinpoche is a reincarnation of the late Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, who was recognized as one of the foremost Tibetan Buddhist Masters of our time, taking birth at the turn of the 20th century and passing away in 1981. Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang was revered for his extraordinary method of teaching and his precious activities, particularly in the tradition of Je Tsongkhapa. Up to the end of his life, Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang continuously turned the Wheel of Dharma for the sake of all sentient beings.

The flourishing of the Dharma in the West is strongly connected with him, because of his own teachings as well as the precious activities of his great disciples such as Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, Venerable Geshe Rabten Rinpoche, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Venerable Lama Yeshe, and many others. Without him, the situation of Tibetan Buddhism and in particular the tradition of Je Tsongkhapa would be very different.  His Eminence Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche is the eighteenth in a lineage of eminent Indian and Tibetan pandits and masters. His supreme reincarnation was discovered in a Tibetan family in Northern India and was officially recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on April 23, 1985.  Presently, Rinpoche has completed his primary studies and is furthering his studies under the guidance of Kyabje Dagom Rinpoche, Venerable Dagpo Rinpoche, Venerable Yongyal Rinpoche and study helper Geshe Thupten Tenzin, and Geshe Lobsang Phuntsok.  As the Spiritual Director of the Trijang Buddhist Institute, he will guide the Institute's activities and programs for the public, for ordained monks and nuns, and for future lay teachers whose Dharma training is anticipated in coming years.

I didn't know that the Dalai Lama offered prayers for the growth of Trijang Buddhist Institute in Vermont! How could the Dalai Lama deny Trijang Rinpoche's Dorje Shugden practice and twisted so many facts in his foreword for The Magical Play of Illusion, the recently published biography of Trijang Rinpoche? How come the Dalai Lama contradicts himself? Does he not know how much damage he has done in destroying the precious Dorje Shugden's lineage?

Trijang Buddhist Institute in Vermont looks beautiful in its wooded setting. I am surprised that the Dalai Lama had offered prayers for the growth of this center's enlightened activities to flourish. After all, H.H. Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche is still an ardent practitioner of Dorje Shugden. Kind of a hypocrite when the Dalai Lama had publically pronounced his Guru to be wrong. So what are we to think? The Dalai Lama had denied harm to Dorje Shugden practitioners and yet H.H. Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche needed to hire bodyguards wherever he goes. Don't make sense!

This is very interesting to see that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will offer prayers to Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche's centre for it to flourish and spread its teachings to all sentient beings. The previous Trijang Rinpoche is a renowned Dorje Shugden lama. He is also the junior tutor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The current reincarnation of Trijang Rinpoche is also a big Dorje Shugden Lama.

Since the 14th Dalai Lama banned the practice of Dorje Shugden, the practice is being called a spirit worshipping practice or a demon-worshipping practice. So now His Holiness the Dalai Lama give his blessings to a centre that practices spirit worshipping for them to flourish and it's teachings to reach all sentient being? That is contradictory to his own words.

On the other hand, His Holiness the Dalai Lama allows Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche to continue Dorje Shugden practice. This is very strange. Why His Holiness allows another highly renowned young Buddhist lama to practice a spirit practice? He is supposed to guide this young lama and not let him stray from true Buddha's teaching.

His Holiness's actions do not match what he said about Dorje Shugden practice. There is alot of doubts and questions that can be raised regarding Dorje Shugden is a spirit. Hence, it is best for us to follow our Teacher without being influenced by anyone else other than our Teacher.

Trijang Rinpoche's reincarnation is also recognised by the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama gave permission to Trijang Rinpoche to continue to do Dorje Shugden practice. This is very puzzling though. If Dorje Shugden practice is harmful and Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit, shouldn't everyone stop the practice? Why is Trijang Rinpoche given an exception? 

There are many things the Dalai Lama said does not make sense at all. He said before if we continue to do Dorje Shugden practice, his life will be shortened. But look at him now, he is still so healthy. If Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit, the Dalai Lama should be able to subdue him as he is an emanation of Chenrezig, why is that not happening?

I agree with Tracy. CTA said that practising Dorje Shugden will lead us to the three lower realms. Then why His Holiness the Dalai Lama recognise the current reincarnation of the previous Trijang Rinpoche is an authentic one? If CTA is right, then the real Trijang Rinpoche should be reborn in one of the three lower realms. So His Holiness recognising and certifying the current incarnation to be authentic, it automatically disregards CTA's statement on Dorje Shugden practice will send us to the three lower realms as a lie.

On top of that, His Holiness does not ONLY recognises this one reincarnation of the Dorje Shugden lama. His Holiness also recognises and certify the authentic reincarnation of Zong Rinpoche and Domo Geshe Rinpoche. Both of them are huge Dorje Shugden lamas who passed away without giving up Dorje Shugden practice. So, if what CTA said is true, all these lamas would not have reincarnated back into human realm.

That is why what CTA said about Dorje Shugden practice is highly unreliable and everyone should think and contemplate about it logically. If one examines about Dorje Shugden ban with logic, one will find that the ban is illogical and there are much evidence that can debunk the lies that CTA claims about Dorje Shugden practice.

What the CTA says about Dorje Shugden is full of lies and illogical. Only people without logic sense will believe them. The CTA thinks they can fool people by their publication of books and videos but eventually truth prevails. They can fool people in the beginning by as more evidence surfaces, nobody will believe them anymore.

If Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit, why can't he be subdued by high lamas? The only reason is that Dorje Shugden is also a Buddha. The CTA also said the Dalai Lama's life will be shortened if people continue to do Dorje Shugden practice but look at the Dalai Lama, he is 83 years old now. High lamas like Trijang Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Ling Rinpoche, Domo Geshe Rinpoche, etc. all came back in a perfect human form. Shouldn't they take rebirth in the 3 lower realms if Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit?

The CTA is a total failure in leading people. They fail to free Tibet and they fail to give a better future to the Tibetans. After 60 years of struggle, it is still a struggle. Hence, Dorje Shugden became their scapegoat to distract people from their failure. It is easier to put the blame on the unseen beings because he cannot defend himself.  The CTA is really ridiculous.

Why would His Holiness the Dalai Lama offers prayers to a Dharma center that is associated with spirit worshipping? That does not make any sense. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the one that bans Dorje Shugden practice and said it is a spirit worshipping practice that can harm us. It is also against the Buddha's teachings that forbid us to worship a spirit.

Then why is His Holiness offering prayers to a center that spread such teachings? Is he indirectly saying that the teachings should be promoted and taught to many more people since he is wishing the center well? That does not make any sense.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is contradicting his own words just like how he wrote a forward for the biography of the previous Trijang Rinpoche which talks intensively about Dorje Shugden. If the practice is really that bad, why is he supporting it indirectly? His Holiness should condemn the center and the book to make sure no one gets close to them and practice the bad practice. This I do not understand.
