Buddha’s teaching is universal, and applicable to anyone and everyone seeking ultimate enlightenment. When Lord Buddha taught, he did not put any restrictions on the holy Dharma that he taught – meaning that it was and still is suitable for any being who’s consciousness allowed them to fathom and practise the Dharma to achieve a pure state of liberation.
Since Buddha’s teaching has no boundaries, limitations or discrimination, as a monastery catering as a source of Dharma for thousands, is it also not applicable to have any restrictions and discriminations to anyone what more fellow Buddhists? Does stopping others from learning Dharma carry heavy negative karma, because you are pulling them away from a holy doctrine to enlightenment? Is it not the same as stopping your lama from teaching the Dharma to benefit others – therefore the consequences are the same.
Anyways, this is the first time I’ve publicly seen and read a sign like this on paper, and it is outrageous. I am sure there are many more monasteries with signs like these at their entrances – religious freedom…ya’ right.
