i came across this article (http://tibetanaltar.blogspot.com/2012/06/tibetan-buddhist-cults-run-amok.html) published today on the recent controversy with Geshe Michael Roach which listed the supposed top cults in America, which appears to be mostly a litany against Dorje Shugden although the article is supposed to be on the forementioned controversy which has nothing to do with Dorje Shugden.

The accusations leveled at Dorje Shugden are so completely without basis that I had to list them here. Firstly, this website claims that Dorje Shugden is a cult instigated by the Chinese secret service to create problems for H.H. the Dalai Lama. How ridiculous can this be. Dorje Shugden has been around for 350 years. Did China murder Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen so that Dorje Shugden could arise? Did China plot with Manjushri to manifest as a Dharma Protector?

The New Kadampa Tradition is a front for Chinese Black Ops?  And WSS also?

This anti-sino paranoia is great for Dorje Shugden practitioners since it is so way out that it makes the accusations completely nonsensical. Thank you Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar!

Here’s the excerpt from the article:

We'll list just the principal cults currently operating in the United States, inclusive of noted overseas command and control, or support mechanisms:

  • Dorje Shugden. A clandestine operation designed by the Chinese intelligence services to stir up trouble for the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. (So many people realize this I cannot, professionally speaking, classify it as "covert.") Denounced by the Dalai Lama himself.
  • "Geshe" Michael Roach. A cult of personality, denounced by the Office of the Dalai Lama. A number of organizations are grouped under the umbrella of this American fellow who claims to have received a Tibetan "geshe" degree, with only a rudimentary knowledge of Tibetan. He is the co-founder ofDiamond Mountain -- the milieu that now becomes infamous owing to the death of Mr. Roach's romantic rival under peculiar circumstances.
  • "Lama" Christie McNally. A cult of personality surrounding the ex-wife of Michael Roach; co-founder of Diamond Mountain, seemingly the bigamous wife of Ian Thorson, victim of the Arizona tragedy (her wedding to Mr. Thorson took place two months prior to her divorce from Mr. Roach becoming final). Claimed by her numerous followers to be a direct manifestation of Vajrayogini.
  • True Buddha School. A showy operation managed from Taiwan, with no known connection to any legitimate Tibetan Buddhist lineage of which anybody is aware. Elaborate claims of divinity, "living Buddha," etc.
  • Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC). Also known as the New Palyul Lineage (NPL). Renamed from the Center for Discovery and New Life, formed from the Black Mountain Light Center, neither of which are nominally Buddhist organizations. A cult of personality surrounding former Christian New Age "channeler" Alyce Zeoli, a self-styled "Jetsunma" believed by her followers to represent the divine person of Princess Mandarava. The organization came to notice for the presence of a homosexual pedophile among its ordained, now serving twenty years in an Arizona prison. Subject of an expose by aWashington Post reporter entitled The Buddha from Brooklyn: A Tale of Spiritual Seduction. Outrageous on-line behavior, persecution of critics, and a suicide has been associated with this cult. [Full disclosure: I had a bout with this group. The U.S. District Court judge stopped the fight and ruled in my favor: a first round TKO. The U.S. Department of Justice subsequently dismissed its own appeal of the decision.]
  • New Kadampa Tradition (NKT). American front mechanism for the aforementioned Chinese black operation. These are the people you see costumed in robes, "demonstrating" against the Dalai Lama.
  • Western Shugden Society (WSS). Headquartered in London; the "third area" designated for management of American activity associated with Dorje Shugden, New Kadampa Tradition, et al. These are straight up black operations managed by an active, hostile foreign power.
  • Pathgate International. Headquartered in London; the "third area" designated for support of American activity associated with the New Palyul Lineage. Maintains a "fighting force" of martial artists; gives substantial financial support to New Palyul Lineage operations in the United States. Thought, on information and belief, to exhibit some cross-contamination among membership with Western Shugden Society, although overtly, the two are claimed as opposed.

Well, not a surprise that this individual, real name William Cassidy is also a fraud himself. He claims to be a tulku but nobody recognized him as one. He especially has beef with Jetsunma Akhon Lhamo who is a recognized tulku.

Quote
Criminal William L. Cassidy Masquerades as “Tulku Urgyen Tenpa Rinpoche”

“Tulku Urgyen Tenpa Rinpoche,” is the name under which William L. Cassidy, a convicted felon, writes a blog called “Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar.”  How do we know?  He told us!  (See story below.)  The titles he uses are self-conferred.  How do we know?  We sent inquiries to the Nyingma teacher who Cassidy claimed “secretly” recognized him.  (He is claiming recognition by a different teacher now, conveniently dead.)  We also had inquiries made throughout the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism, in which he claims a place. (See story below.) As if that isn’t enough, Mr. Cassidy is notorious in the world of Las Vegas politics and crime as a double dealer.  (See these links.)

How We Came to Know Him

In September 2007 someone made contact with one of our monks, who had a blog called “Dreaming of Danzin Ravjaa,” and drew attention to his own blog, “Digital Tibetan Buddhist Altar,” on which he had praised our teacher and KPC Spiritual Director, Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo.  Of course we were pleased!  But we could find little information about the writer, who claimed to be a secretly recognized American tulku in the Nyingma school (the same school of Tibetan Buddhist of which KPC is a part).  He called himself “Tulku Urgyen Tenpa.”

Correspondence ensued throughout the next month.  We were led to believe that this person was in ill health, and on the verge of death.  Because spiritual care at the time of death is one of the hallmarks of our teacher’s mission (Christians might call that “ministry,” but it’s not exactly the same thing), we invited him to our retreat center in the mountains of Arizona to be of assistance to him.  Our teacher went out to meet him.

Eventually, this person, whose American name we knew then as William Sanderson, was invited to Sedona specifically so that members of the ordained community could care for him in what we thought to be his final days.  In the process of retrieving his personal effects for him from his residence in Lucerne Valley, California, we discovered that his real name was William Cassidy.  When confronted, he did admit to that name, but had an explanation.

Details of His Scam

During his sojourn among the KPC sangha in Sedona, Cassidy pretended to be a doctor of Tibetan Medicine, and actually conducted consultations.  Under that guise, he proposed a joint practice with one of the KPC nuns, who had given up her chiropractic practice because of illness.  Meaning to take advantage of her very real Arizona license, he made every effort to convince her that she was well enough to take up her profession again.

Things came to a head in February of 2008 when the so-called “tulku” proposed an event at the Amitabha Stupa in Sedona, a monument prominent in the sacred practice of the group there and well-known in the community.  Although he did NOT announce in advance that he would participate, he did in fact do so, conducting a “ritual” and offering “blessings.”  The crowd of about 500 apparently made significant donations to the outdoor donation box that KPC maintains at the stupa.  For the only time in the five-year history of that stupa, the donation box was robbed that night.  Cassidy’s advice was NOT to contact the police.

Meanwhile, he offered to help us with various financial and legal challenges we were faced with.  We were so grateful (and, alas, so unsuspecting!) that we invited him to take on the job of Chief Operating Officer. He held this position only for about a week, but during that time, made every effort to gather information about the organization.  Later, files of financial documents that went missing from a house in which he was staying appeared as a zip file on his blog.  (He claimed the documents were “incriminating”; actually, they were nothing of the kind.  They did, however, contain sensitive data about donors, the kinds of records all charitable organizations keep.)

How We Discovered His True Identity

Meanwhile, our teacher, concerned about his penchant for offering spiritual advice to the sangha, had consulted with the senior lamas of our lineage about his recognition and authorization to teach.  Such authorization is extremely important in Tibetan Buddhism. She was told by her own teacher, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, the head of the lineage and former Supreme Head of the Nyingma School, that he could find no indication that a Nyingma lama had ever recognized such a person.  He advised us to be kind and continue to care for him, which we did.

Two weeks after the event at the Amitabha Stupa, our teacher, Jetsunma, wrote to William Cassidy informing him of His Holiness’s message.  Almost immediately, Cassidy left the household in which he was being cared for.

Soon after these events, Cassidy began posting defamatory information about Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo and KPC.  This information included the financial records he had taken.  We began to look for ways of defending ourselves, and in researching his past, discovered to our shock that he was a convicted felon.

Inadvertently, but happily, we supplied the impetus for local authorities to arrest him:  it turned out that he was in violation of probation, and was subsequently re-imprisoned in Nevada to serve out his sentence for assault and arson.  We were dismayed to realize that the person on whom we had lavished care and spent about $10,000 of our personal resources was a felon who was taking advantage of us.

Cassidy’s Campaign of Defamation and Slander

Once he was released in January 2009, he resumed his blog campaign of defamation and slander. So alarmed did we become that we sought and obtained an injunction against “workforce harassment” by him, issued by Judge Dorothy Little, Gila County Justice Court, in Payson, Arizona.

Cassidy’s internet harassment continued on multiple blogs, with more intense defamatory efforts, against our Palyul Lineage, our teacher (Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo), KPC as an organization, and even individual sangha members, with names and pictures.

Eventually, individual students in the sangha developed blogs in an effort to expose the lies, misrepresentations, and slander in which Cassidy was indulging.  Those blogs contain a great deal of information about his record and activities.

In August 2009, Mr. Cassidy participated with a woman with whom he was living, in using California law to harass Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo.  On completely baseless grounds, Jetsunma was served with a “Temporary Restraining Order,” which was subsequently thrown out of court.  (California law makes it extremely easy to obtain such a temporary order so that abused women can be protected while they seek legal redress.)  Of course, KPC again incurred needless expenses to respond in court.

Since losing in that case, Mr. Cassidy has removed names from his blog but has let his slanderous messages stand.

Don’t Let Him Make a Twit of You!

And now, again in the guise of “Tulku Tenpa Rinpoche,” Mr. Cassidy is using twitter in his campaign.  Do you still want to “follow” him?  Don’t say you weren’t warned!

A few more searches on him and there will be more interesting things about him.

Real tulkus and practitioners have no need to put others down, based on this guy's actions it seems that he is jealous of Akhon Lhamo's recognition but it could be the other way round too. But this is something to think about: if he was real does he need to defame her in this way?

He seems to like to step down on traditions he does not like to cover his insecurities. No real tulku would ever need to resort to do that.

My thoughts on this issue are that the original poster is delusional as there is nowhere online or otherwise that have proof that he is a tulku, or that he has any recognition from any Lama. On the other hand, Jetsunma Akhon Lhamo has been recognized by many high Lamas of the Nyigma Phayul tradition as a real tulku. There are videos and letters and other related material that proves it.

perhaps, this guy is jealous of Akhon Lhamo and he resorted to defaming her in many ways and provoking her center and students to unfortunately, engage in a war of sorts with him. He is jealous that she was recognized and that she was able to start a successful center while nobody comes to his and on this basis launch a barrage of nasty attacks against Akhon Lhamo.

He also launches attacks on other lineages or traditions which eclipses his. He never talks about his Gurus, and even when he talks about Dharma he seems to twist them with some kind of agenda or that it comes with some sort of hidden meaning meant as an attack against someone so on the surface it sounds like real Dharma but a bit more of investigation shows otherwise.

This is somewhat sad but I am not surprised that he's just someone else trying to be a tulku but without recognition and neither does he talk about his own Gurus but he loves to focus on the weakness of other people and traditions. i dont think that is a good example for any of us to follow. It is unfortunate that Akhon Lhamo's reaction to him also caused misunderstandings, but i guess, it had to happen.

This is all false fabrications on Dorje Shugden.  It is a waste of time to read on and has no logic at all.  It is utterly rubbish and fit for trash.

Interestingly I was reading a similar article on Alex Berzin's page which had his page of contraversy highlighted for people to read.

http://viewonbuddhism.org/controversy-controversial-teacher-group-center-questionable.html

Though the Shugden contraversy was confined within Geshe Kalsang Gyatso's account in the entire list, what shocked my system was that there was already a council of Buddhist Policemen in session waaaay back in 1993.

Controversial 'Buddhist' Teachers & Groups
"When teachers break the precepts,
behaving in ways that are clearly damaging to themselves and others,
students must face the situation,
even though this can be challenging, criticize openly, that's the only way."
His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Having thought long and hard about making this page or not, I decided to go ahead to avoid people getting into trouble with questionable teachers and organizations who claim to be Buddhist, but whose motivation is questioned. For obvious reasons, this page itself is controversial, as people who are involved with such teachers or groups will usually deny the controversy or even claim not to be aware of it.

From shimanoarchive.com:

On March 16-19, 1993, a meeting was held in Dharamsala, India, between His Holiness The Fourteenth Dalai Lama and a group of twenty-two Western dharma teachers from the major Buddhist traditions in Europe and America. Also present were the Tibetan lamas Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche, Pachen Otrul Rinpoche, and Amchok Rinpoche. The aim of the meeting was to discuss openly a wide range of issues concerning the transmission of Budhadharma to Western lands.

The following statement ensued from the meeting:
“Each student must be encouraged to take responsible measures to confront teachers with unethical aspects of their conduct. If the teacher shows no sign of reform, students should not hesitate to publicize any unethical behavior of which there is irrefutable evidence. This should be done irrespective of other beneficial aspects of his or her work and of one's spiritual commitment to that teacher. It should also be made clear in any publicity that such conduct is not in conformity with Buddhist teachings. No matter what level of spiritual attainment a teacher has, or claims to have, reached, no person can stand above the norms of ethical conduct.”

Signed:
Fred von Allmen, Brendan Lee Kennedy, Ven. Ajahn Amaro, Bodhin Kjolhede Sensei, Jack Kornfield, Martine Batchelor, Dharmachari Kulananda, Stephen Batchelor, Jakusho Bill Kwong Roshi, Alex Berzin, Lama Namgyal (Daniel Boschero), Ven. Thubten Chodron (Cherry Greene), Ven. Tenzin Palmo, Lama Drupgyu Crony Chapman), Ven. Thubten Pende (James Dougherty), Lopon Claude aEsnee, Lama Surya Das (Jeffrey Miller), Edie Irwin, Robert Thurman, Junpo Sensei (Denis Kelly), Sylvia Wetzel.

The teachers and groups below are not all criminals or necessarily involved in distorting Buddhism, but serious complaints have been made about their conduct and/or teachings. I am not a policeman or judge, and I cannot verify if all these claims are true. I merely hope to warn innocent newcomers about potential problems and controversy.

Especially in China and Taiwan, and teachers from there, I would recommend serious caution when people are called "Living Buddhas". Such kind of title pretty much goes against all Buddhist ideas of modesty. Also when teachers promote practices for wealth and fame, or even promise 'instant enlightenment', it may be good to start asking some serious questions about the main purpose of their own 'Buddhist' practice.

If you are aware of any currently active teacher or group that is controversial, but not on below list, please help other people and email me .

For the rest, please remain aware of the dangers of cults or abusive teachers, and take responsibility for your own life. Especially in Tibetan Buddhism, a personal teacher is seen as essential for spiritual progress, so better make really, really sure that you chose a genuine master; the more impressive the titles, the more critical one should investigate...

Ngakpa Chogyam   Aro Ter (Aro gTer or Aroter)
Prolongued discussion at E-sangha qualifications of Ngakpa Chogyam and authenticity of this lineage are questioned, but there are also counter-arguments like at http://approachingaro.org/aro-controversy-faq.

Shoko Asahara
Aum Shinrikyo   Group responsible for the sarin gas attack in the Tokyo subway. Asahara also claimed to be the Christ. Needless to say this is an insane & dangerous group

Dorje Chang Buddha III / Wan Ko Yee / Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu
A 'Buddha' without history, flooding the internet with self-referring messages of his coming, using all the possible titles he can find.... 'Highest Buddha', 'Supreme leader of Buddhism' on and on. No one besides his own organization seems to have heard of him. Yes, I am suspicious at least - extreme caution advised, it has all the appearances of hot air..

Ikeda Daisaku   Soka Gakkai   Website by 'victims'. Especially critique on Ikeda Daisaku

'Geshe' Kelsang Gyatso   New Kadampa Tradition (NKT)
Many centers and groups world-wide   Shugden controversy, rejection of views of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, unauthorized use of the Geshe title, expelled from own monastery, self-invented ordination of monks and nuns, claims of sexual abuse by ordained members high in the organization etc. Just Google for shugden... or a website of its critics and academic research.

Gurudas Sunyatananda
aka 'semi-retired archbishop of the autocephalic Eastern Catholic Church'
aka Khenpo   aka Dharmacharya  aka Servant-Father Francis-Maria of the Immaculata   Contemplative Order of Compassion
Dharma-teacher, but also archbishop of the autocephalic Eastern Catholic Church , which according to their own website, does not believe in the pope as head of the Catholic church, follows Tibetan Budsdhism and he denounces the Dalai Lama (because of his understanding of the Shugden controversy) in a published book.

Li Honqzhi   Falun Gong, Falun Dafa
http://www.buddhismaustralia.org/cults.htm claims distorted Buddhism. However, they only claim to be inspired by Buddhism. One should be aware of the vicious attitude of the Chinese Govt. against this group, so much of the info may be distorted beyond recognition.

Jhanananda (Jeffrey S. Brooks)   Great Western
Vehicle   Self-ordained monk??? According to his own About me, modesty is not one of his qualities.

Lama Jigme       See Dharmaling forum - possibly a fraud begging for money

Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo,
(Alyce Louise Zeoli)       Quite some controversy over this 'first western woman to be recognized as a Tulku' can even be found at Wikipedia

Lin Yun   Black Tantric Buddhism
Apparently he admits himself that he is an imposter (see this page). Many signs of this being a cult are being reported.

Maitreya
See a long list of would-be Maitreyas at http://www.globalserve.net/~Sarlo/Ymaitreyas.htm. Should I say more?

Lama Christie McNally   Diamond Mountain University
Student and ex-partner of Geshe Michael Roach (see below). Apart from her controversial relationship with a monk (Michael Roach), the way she presents herself is more then questionable, as is explained in Badkarmanews.blogspot.com

Dennis Genpo Merzel   White Plum Asanga
"Disrobed" as a Buddhist priest after admitting to sexual misconduct and resigned from the White Plum Asanga in February 2011. He still wants to continue teaching, but other Zen teachers requested him to stop teaching completely.

Ole Nydal   Diamond Way Buddhism   Influential western teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, whose sexual behavior and opinions are frowned upon by quite a few Buddhists as 'politically incorrect' or worse as can be seen at the Wikipedia article about him. Even the Shamarpa criticised him on this webpage 'comment by the Shamarpa' on his official website, but apparently that article was removed after threats of Mr. Nydahl to libel the Shamarpa; if this is how someone deasl with his own teacher...

Panchen Lama Gyaltsen Norbu       Fake head of Tibetan Buddhism, chosen by the Chinese government. The current Dalai Lama named Gedhun Choekyi Nyima on May 14, 1995. The latter vanished from public eye shortly after being named, aged six. (from Wikipedia)

Domo Geshe Rinpoche, aka Marjorie Wangchuk, aka Tara Wangchuk, aka Marjorie Tara Dadak
(Marjorie Quinn)   White Conch Dharma Center
Serious questions on her claims as rebirth of Geshe Domo, her ordination and more, see infinitenetworks.com or on facebook

Serious allegations noted at: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=147681110732&id=673604575&ref=nf , or even worse, I saw a psychological evaluation that mentions "many serious psychological symptoms", a bad start for any teacher to say the least.

Geshe Michael Roach
His qualifications as teacher are not questioned, no reports of sexual abuse, but he does make outrageous claims of realizations - not very Buddhist. He also claims to be a monk, but has sexual relations; a contradiction in terms. See e.g. http://www.diamond-cutter.org

Sangharakshita   Friends of the World's Buddhist Order (FWBO)a.k.a. Triratna
See http://www.ex-cult.org/fwbo/fwbofiles.htm Most criticism appears directed towards the founder Sangharakshita and his sexual habits. The intentions of the FWBO itself are sometimes questioned as well.

True Buddha School (Zhen Fo Zhong)
See: http://www.buddhismaustralia.org/cults.htm or Wikipedia Shen-yen's extravagant claims of authority as a Buddhist master are questionable at best. He even gives Kalachakra initiations based on...who knows...

'Living Buddha' Dechan Jueren
aka Master Yu
Dari Rulai Temple, Puente, Ca, USA

Charges outrageous fees for courses, focused on practices for wealth and success - especially his own. He appoints 'Vajracharya's' (tantric masters) after rediculously short trainings. In March 2011 charging £375 for (1 U$) masks for radiation sickness!

* Please note that with this comment, my intention is to warn western women to not confuse their spiritual practice with having sex with any spiritual teacher, even a famous person like Sogyal Rinpoche, without thinking twice. At the same time many people - including myself - find his Dharma teachings inspiring, and you will find many of his quotes on this website for that reason only.

There are all sorts of Dharma police around, but mainly those who become one are people who have been hurt by a cult previously and they now seek to help others so that they will not get into the same situation. But in doing so they tend to allow paranoia to take over and they take on a set of rigid rules that they use to protect themselves and then use it as a standard to compare everyone else with.

Unfortunately, their methods and the "guidelines" that appear from their paranoia or sometimes, delusions, are not based on reality and all sorts of possibilities, neither is it based on knowledge or wisdom but fear and bitterness, as well as their own delusions, paranoia and laziness. Deadly cocktail indeed. And the worst part is they often bring others down to their level as well.

What they are really doing is that they are preventing others from having a spiritual connection with what they have affinity with and cause these people to get lost in a spiritual sense. Some organizations may appear as a cult, but what if they are not? and if someone has an affinity with them and because of that they are actually happy, why are they bad in the first place?

The best way to prevent people from getting into an organization that will harm themselves is to provide them with information and guidelines from real enlightened masters such as ashvagosha who wrote the 50 verses of Guru devotion and not something made up or cooked up with the basis of paranoia, lack of knowledge or delusions that will only mislead people more.

The definition of Dorje Shugden as a clandestine operation by the Chinese intelligence to destabilized the Dalai Lama and his Central Tibetan Administration sounds pretty funny and way off. However, there is a ring of truth to it but not in the way it was implied.

The Dorje Shugden issue began as a ban by the Dalai Lama, way before even the Chinese knew of such an obscure Tibetan deity. There is incredible amount of textual proof that Dorje Shugden existed even before Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche and so it was not the invention of Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche either. In fact, there is surviving evidence that it was widely practiced by the Sakyas as well. (Read this article:- http://dorjeshugden.com/wp/?p=10184 )

However, the Dalai Lama and especially the Central Tibetan Administration played up on the ban on Dorje Shugden. This had obviously caught the attention of the Chinese and their propaganda machine must have realized its potential. Hence, they would have allowed Dorje Shugden practice within the country and must have also promoted it secretly. Their wish is to encourage it because that would be to aggravate the situation in the Tibetans in exile.

Now, you have ignorant outsiders observing all this and not knowing the insides of Tibetan society and so forth. So, they probably would formulate their own views according to what was perceived. Nevertheless, the Chinese in time seems to be welcoming more and more Dorje Shugden into China and allowing larger Dorje Shugden temples to be built. Other than that, I have personally not seen any other overt evidence of Chinese support.

i came across this article (http://tibetanaltar.blogspot.com/2012/06/tibetan-buddhist-cults-run-amok.html) published today on the recent controversy with Geshe Michael Roach which listed the supposed top cults in America, which appears to be mostly a litany against Dorje Shugden although the article is supposed to be on the forementioned controversy which has nothing to do with Dorje Shugden.

Hilarious!!! If China murdered Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen so that Dorje Shugden could arise then we should probably Thank them for it!

Without any real proof but just speculations from an outsiders perspective, this seems to just another gossip column of those with too much time in their hands. Dorje Shugden practice was started 350 years ago and during that time, China was not even in the picture of knowing who Dorje Shugden is. But yes they are smart to pick it up now thanks a great deal to His Holiness for the ban. Obviously His Holiness would have realised that China was watching His every move and picking it up and promoting it would just be a natural reaction especially when you say it will shorten His Holiness life. Seems like the one promoting Dorje Shugden to the world is His Holiness himself. Any form of publicity good or bad is still publicity!

And to always point that the Shugden contraversy was confined within Geshe Kalsang Gyatso - NKT and WSS is such utter rubbish, and is clearly it is coming from those who is either jealous or has had some kind of bad experience personally, which is usually the case, with NKT. But what amazes is that no matter what is being said all these years regarding NKT, they are still moving and growing strong! Just look at this next up and coming huge event they will be having http://www.facebook.com/events/414875275223368/

New Kadampa Tradition
?****IMPORTANT INFORMATION****
The Modern Buddhism Event on 16th June is held in the Exchange Auditorium at Manchester Central Convention Complex.

Apparently this event happened to also fall on the same date of the the Dalai Lama's visit in Manchester. This will be interesting to watch. Now why would a cult like NKT be still growing so strongly if they were doing anything wrong I am sure by now they would have close shop if there was any truth the nonsensical accusations that has been thrown at them all these years.

Oh yes, I remember reading this a while ago. This is absolutely hilarious and the person who wrote that statement is NOT, I repeat, NOT A REAL LAMA. His real name is William Cassidy and he has been accused of fraud a while ago, and he had done a lot of financial damage to Jetsunma Akhon Lhamo and he has now a personal vendetta against her organization.

This blog has been created by a group of concerned Vajrayana practitioners regarding the behavior of the person calling himself “Tulku Tenpa Rinpoche.” We feel it is important to get this information out to the public because this man solicits money purporting to be a tulku, or reincarnate lama, while refusing to offer any substantial evidence to back up his claim. This blog is not affiliated with any particular organization, lama, or group. It is owned, funded, and maintained by individuals on a purely voluntary basis. We invite anyone who has had interactions with this person to offer comments or questions.

We ourselves are operating anonymously because of threats we receive. This individual has a criminal past, which demonstrates he can be dangerous, without empathy for his victims.

It is our intention to present factual information and allow individuals and organizations to make an informed choice as to whether or not this individual is in fact a legitimate tulku. We hope to be able to help other Buddhist students distinguish between pure, virtuous activity, and a facade put on for selfish purposes.

More stuff here about this person who is posing as a lama!
