Mobile Apps (iPhone and Android) for Dorje Shugden?

I have just searched Android apps store (http://play.google.com) and Apple App Store, and there is no Dorje Shugden related apps.

What do you think of an mobile app to help the spread the King Dorje Shugden? If there is such app, what kind of feature you would like to see?

History/Lineage? Comics? Images? May be a link to the shop.dorjeshugden.com ?

Off the top of my head, I reckon it should feature the following:

1. The 5 forms of Dorje Shugden as downloadable image files.
2. The 5 mantras of each form as a downloadable sound files - perhaps even ringtones!.
3. A chat function whereby one can "find" and link to like minded people over the phone.
4. A shopping "page" whereby one can purchase online through one's phone (like buying apps)
5. A video file of Dorje Shugden An Illustrated Story like the one found in this website.
6. Funky Wallpapers of Dorje Shugden

I think this would be a great way to tap into a market that is fast gaining ground with the onset of smart phones and tabs... Perfect way to share information through a different media which will penetrate the younger generation too. After all, exposure to knowledge is a powerful tool!

A short write-up about DS with a link to the Illustrated Story would be useful.

If there is an apps for Dorje Shugden, I would like to have it as an online game.

I believe everyone has heard of 'angry bird'? It is a very simple game, in Feb 2011 there were 200 million followers and downloaded at least 75 million times. A game can be developed to have Dorje Shugden as a hero coming from the far far away snow mountain, his mission is to fight with the demons, spirits, maras and protect his kingdom (Tsongkapa's doctrine). Dorje Shugden's weapon will be the sword he holds in his hand. As the gamer progresses to a higher level, the gamer will be able to recruit the entourage such as Kache Marpo, Namka Barzin, etc.

Same concept of Angry Bird can be adopted to market this online game. Gamer can download a free version with limited function or they can pay to upgrade to a full version. A promotional item can later become a revenue generated 'business' to support further the spreading of DS.

It will be nice to see Dorje Shugden in action.

Wow, this is a very good idea, just like Angry Bird, it is a very simple catapult game and look now, how many people get attracted to it? It has become so famous that now you can see all sort of merchandise selling all over the world, there is Shirt, Sandals, pillow, cap, all these are the things we use at home.

Hehe, I can’t imagine how Dorje Shugden will be like when he is to make into game, must be very cute and interesting. Oh ya, we can even create a simple story line for the game series, when the people play through the game, they are indirectly learning about Dorje Shugden background, and when the time this game get famous, oops, Dorje Shugden’s merchandise is all around the world as well, isn’t this interesting to see Dorje Shugden everywhere?

Kris, I love your idea of Mobile Apps for Dorje Shugden.  It is so cool, practicable and will outreach many young and old people alike effortlessly and fast globally.  We need to find Mobile Apps Developer to materialise this project.  Apart from spreading DS far and wide using this method we can also generate big money to further promote DS.  You are so creative Kris.

Hey, great idea to have DS mobile apps! It's the in thing at this point of time where everyone uses it very often.  No doubt we will need to market this proposed app far and wide. 

I like Carpenter's idea too make it into an interesting DS game too.  This can reach to the younger group too!  Wow! Just cannot imagine the excitement to see many children, young and old aldults on DS game.  Imagine them sitting at roadside cafes, coffee houses, bus stops, eateries, anywhere playing them!!

Again imagine having Dorje Shugden pops out each time someone wants to download games!  Hmmm...we can have a game on the activity of distribution DS images among the game players to compete.

I think the app should have:

1. Ten reasons why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha
2. The spiritual lineage of Dorje Shugden
3. The incarnation lineage of Dorje Shugden, then when you click you can access short biographies
4. Trailer of the Illustrated Story with option to make a small donation to download the rest
5. Samples of the comic book in all the languages with option to make a small donation to download the rest
6. Different places where Dorje Shugden is practised
7. Some of the brochures in printable format
8. Access to some phone wallpapers. Maybe live ones (where the fire moves or something), I know some phones now support that
9. Some of the prayers so we have our sadhanas on the go

Yeah, the game idea is a very good idea!   I thought about it sometimes ago it will actually make Dorje Shugden as the SUPERHERO of our time, just like his mission here in this very time.  On the marketing level, the Tagline "The Uncommon Protector of Our Time" sound so cool!   I am sure many youngsters or even old folks like me would get very addicted!

Of course on the practical side, it would be good if its fun and educational.  Just like what other have mentioned.  Maybe eBook, illustration on Dorje Shugden life story for download and learning purposes would be very good?  As well as images and online shops are all very good ideas!

On the fun side, just like the app "Draw something".  we have a game site, a question will be asked but you have to answer through your drawing. and you can signed up in this very forum to become a participant in the game. so we can question one another and learn through that.  I think it will be very educational and fun too!

I would like that Mobile App to be an additive game:

(1) it will make Dorje Shugden famous and popular just like Angry Birds
(2) the popularity of this mobile app will bring in money which will then be used to
support DS practioners, monestaries and tempers alike !!

-   An idea for new merchandise. How about a torch light? I’ve recently come across a really cool torch light. It is small and handy with laser pointer, UV light and stuff. What is amazing is that when I turned on the torch light, a logo of a company shines out with color and all for advertisement purpose. I was like, WOAH!  This is cool! Imagine when you shine a torch light, Dorje Shugden’s image light the way?

We can have prayers for easy mobile readings, images of holy beings, history, lineages, comics, mayb add in the controversy as optional. As for games, what about a super shugden hero fight and killing our mental afflictions, desires, greed, anger, ignorance, hatred and the mongoose can also function as jewel grabber. Dont for DS weapons. The game is exclusive goodies at $1.99.

Dont forget to add in a zigsaw puzzle for kids to form an image of DS...mayb a peaceful or cartoon one.

I wonder if this small app can contain so many information.?

This is a great idea to have android or iphone apps for Dorje Shugden. I will love to have the user friendly ways to read the post in DorjeShugden.com via mobile phone.
Information that I would like to have includes new updates, who is DS, the history, the lineage, videos on DS, FAQ, prayers, photos. A link to eShop will be useful. 
As of games, I am not a game person. However, would be good to be able to have fun quiz on facts related to Dorje Shugden.

I love this Mobile App idea. However, I hate the idea of reducing a holy being into a computer game. I am sorry but I feel that such an idea would reduce the sanctity of the Protector just so the pimply, teenage gaming community would come to know about Dorje Shugden. I believe an online graphic novel would be better idea. You know, the type that would scroll and transition between each panel of the comic. However, there are many concepts for the game.

As an adult, I would be most interested in the Dorje Shugden puja app. It will have nice graphics that will show the puja text in a language of the user and an option to hear the monks chanting it in Tibetan. Now, that's really great and people can be anywhere and perform a Dorje Shugden Kangsol. Other apps and videos of the various aspects of Dorje Shugden would be most welcomed. I just like the puja on-the-go app. Now, that is something that would be most helpful for my practice as a modern practitioner.

I like the mobile app idea a lot too and I share the same feeling with big uncle on having a Dorje Shugden puja app instead of making a computer game. It would also be good to have audiobooks on Dorje Shugden bio, etc. Yes the DS mantra chanting should also be made available as an app to enable non-Tibetan listener learn the correct pronunciation. Looking forward to see an app in the App Store soon.
