With the exception of very very few real-deal, I would safely say many mediums are fake! The words they say, the advise they gave were All very simplistic and not practical. Hence I strongly suggest no one should approach medium for help. By giving out private information to other people was definitely a mistake panishable by grounding.

Consulting mediums is very popular all over the world. In western countries people call them psychic mediums. In the East, they are known as mediums. The functions of these mediums are to give solutions to the people who have problems and can't overcome them.

As many has mentioned, it's not advisable to consult mediums who take trance or channels beings that are not Enlightened. Solutions given may not help the person asking in the long run. Here is a clip of a medium taking trance in a Taoist temple.

It is quite a common thing for people to consult mediums who take trances of unenlightened beings to ask for things such as wealth, health, and to resolve personal problems. Most people do this without thinking about the repercussions or consequences. Yes, these beings that take trance and speak using the medium's physical body may seem to be very helpful. But who knows the real reason why it is being so helpful?

Unenlightened beings are not to be dabbled with because there must be a reason behind what they are doing. Meaning, they surely want something in return for the help they offer. That's why they are unenlightened beings and bounded here among the living because of their attachments. And we can never be sure which is good and which is bad. Even GODs get angry if their help is not returned with proper offerings. These unenlightened beings can be very powerful and deceiving. They'll hook the confidence of the person who ask for help, and even appear as a holy being such as Tara, to give advice and help for many years before showing their true colour.

Hence, have great faith in the 3 Jewels and practice diligently what is being taught by the Lama. It is by understanding ourselves only we can resolve the problems that plague us. Not through short cuts such as consulting mediums for luck, and wealth because even if they can solve the problem and not ask for anything in return (which is quite unlikely), the same problem will just keep coming back, because we do not understand the root cause of the problem due to our dependence of a quick and easy way to resolve it.

Consulting Mediums is a fairly common practice amongst the public. The Buddhist attitude towards consulting a Medium is one of neutrality. It is difficult to verify whether what the Medium conveys is correct or not. The practice of consulting Medium is not a Buddhist practice; it is just a traditional practice. One reason it is difficult to verify what a Medium conveys is made clear in the Avyaakata which discusses the Buddha's ten indeterminate questions. Question numbers 7,8,9, and 10 read: "whether Enlightened ones exist after death," "or does not exist after death," "or both exists and does not exist after death," "or neither exits nor does not exist after death."

Consulting Mediums is for worldly material gain; the Teaching of the Buddha is for spiritual development. However, if people believe what the Medium conveys is true, there is NO reason for Buddhists to object to such practices.

Consulting mediums is a very old method of divination. It has been around for hundreds of years and all different cultures have a way to do it. there is always someone who knows how to take trance, but the real problem is this: how sure are we that the being that takes trance is who he claims to be? what if he is an impostor and if we follow the given advice, things will go bad for us? Or if that the entity in the medium would guide us to our doom then take advantage of us?

It's a risk i would not like to take at all.

when we share stories about oracles giving instructions for a certain matter we have consulted and concerned about, most people just relate it to mediums. They thought that its the same, the major difference is we are speaking to an enlightened being (wisdom being), vehicle (a monk who has kept his vows and commitments pure) while most mediums might be possessed by an unenlightened beings which give quick fixes and does not stop the root of problem and most of the time, new obstacles will be created and manifest again. And yes its a risk to take so lets not take this risk.

Guess what, apparently not all Vajrayana Buddhist monks and people actually believe in "enlightened" oracles and that this is even possible... look what i found in my findings a monk has to say... it shows how much they are exposed and how they only listen to His Holiness in every single thing without further exploration n question...

The most important thing to know is that a completely enlightened being, a Buddha, can never manifest through an oracle. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has stated this at several teachings and it is also something I have confirmed with my teachers. The reason is that if enlightened beings started to manifest through oracles, it would create confusion about doctrine and the speech of the oracles would come to be seen as infallible.
Many problems and conflicts in Tibet can be traced back to this issue so it is very important to have a proper understanding of this, lest we be misled and put our ultimate faith in beings that are not suitable objects of refuge according to Buddhism.

Okay so if this monk does not believe in the existance of "enlightened oracles" but is okay with "Nechung oracle" who is "unenlightened" at this point... who has actually given wrong predictions and if the 14th DL listened and stayed back in Tibet, we would not even have him here now... and that is all okay for them? hu??? Does this make sense at all? [Slap head]

Its the practice of Double Standards, or one sided blindness where they do not see the faults of themselves but only of the others, or they speak out against something but fail to realize that they themselves are doing the same thing. Or perhaps, they consider the audience with Nechung as entertainment and for show and not a serious one that will make decisions for the state? It could also mean that way when he said that Buddhas do not manifest via oracles but he consults Nechung still.
