Daredevil grandma Laverne Everett is the newest internet sensation after her sister posted her skydiving goes wrong video on youtube and it gone viral overnight.
The video shows Laverne nearly slipping out of her harness during a jump more than a year ago. It was her 80th birthday. The Lodi Parachute Company is now being investigated by the FAA.
In an Interview, Grandma Laverne, who lives in a modest studio apartment in small California town of Oakdale, says she craves a little excitement once in a while. So in 2011 for her 80th birthday she decided to jump out of a plane, much to the surprise of her family.
"They thought I was very brave," said Laverne. "But, it's just something I've wanted to do for a long time.Risking one's life in dangerous sports like skydiving is brave? Many lives were were ended prematurely in skydiving mishaps. As a Buddhist I would say this is wasting our precious human lives.
