Court to Order CTA to Remove the Shugden Ban?

This is awesome news. European court tells Romania to respect jailed Buddhist’s vegetarian diet.   Relatively, when such minuscule human right is exercised in Europe, it can happen elsewhere in the world.  It can also happen in India. 

For such a serious matter as a religious prosecution and denial of human rights, we can imagine how the international pressure can be on India to order CTA to lift the ban on Shugden.  Huge embarrassment and humiliation will certainly be upon the Dalai Lama and his clique.  What the Dalai Lama is preaching is not followed by his clique instead they are countering his teaching and damaging the Dalai Lama's global image of a world peace spiritual leader.  How dangerous, the Dalai Lama's life long hard work in this world could fizzle off and be wasted due to the unheeded plea to lift the ban on Shugden and to stop prosecuting its own exile community practising Shugden.  Indeed it is a shame. 

CTA must have more common sense and foresight on the international scene to see what is coming on them.




A European court on Tuesday told Romania it must respect a prisoner’s right to food based on his religious beliefs after a jailed Buddhist was refused vegetarian meals.

The prisoner, Ghennadii Vartic, a Moldovan national who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in Romania, complained that during detentions in 1998 and 2009, prison authorities would not provide him with a vegetarian diet as required by his Buddhist convictions.

The Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights condemned Bucharest to pay the 40-year-old 3,000 euros ($4,130) in damages and 200 euros for costs and expenses for violating his freedom of religion.


Until 2007 Vartic, who was an atheist before turning to Buddhism, received food from his family in line with his beliefs but authorities have banned such favours since thereby limiting his food intake.

Bucharest which has three months to appeal argued that a number of prisoners convert to religion to receive better food.

However the court ruled there was no proof that this was true in Vartic’s case.

Tibetans are playing a dangerous game with world politics.  Don't you think it could back fire on them?  They are pursuing the issue of human rights within China when their own backyard is not clean.  It will be a laughing stork when the court issue an order for CTA to remove the Shugden ban.  Of course superpower China can influence this to happen when they become irritated by their acts. 

CTA have better to watch out on their TWA before their asses catch fire.

DHARAMSHALA, December 27: A campaign by the Tibetan Women's Association drew support from some eminent Indian politicians and lawyers of India's apex court. Indian politicians and Supreme Court lawyers on Thursday signed a petition that appeals the Spanish Government and the European Union to maintain judicial independence of Tibet lawsuit from political interference.

Digvijay Singh, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and General Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC); Bhakta Charan Das, Lok Sabha MP; Inder Singh Nomdhan, Lok Sabha MP; Meenakshi Lakhi, Lawyer and National Spokesperson for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP); James Sangma, Member of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and General Secretary of National People’s Party (NPP); Manoj K Jha, Senior Leader and Spokesperson of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD); Jaydev Ranade, Cabinet Secretary of Government of India; Puran Mal Saini, Advocate, Supreme Court and Ranbir Yadav, Advocate, Supreme Court were among those who signed the petition.

Earlier in October, the Spanish National Court ordered arrest warrants to be issued against five Chinese leaders, including former President and Party Secretary Jiang Zemin, for their policies in Tibet.

However, China sent a delegation headed by Wu Yingjei to Spain reportedly to influence the Spanish government to limit the independence of Spain's judiciary i what the TWA calls "a clearly political move to close down a ground-breaking Tibet lawsuit that implicates Chinese leaders." Quoting Spanish Justice Ministry sources, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported earlier that the Spanish government was planning to limit the Spanish judiciary's powers to investigate human rights abuses under the principle of universal jurisdiction.

International Tibet Network and Comité de Apoyo al Tíbet (CAT) have also started an online signature campaign urging Spain's Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, and other European Union leaders to stand up for Tibet against China's pressure and retain the independence of judicial systems from political interference.

“I urge the whole of the European Union to Stand Up for Tibet; to stand with Spain in resisting China's unacceptable pressure against an impartial criminal investigation, and to support the internationally recognized human rights standards that these Tibet lawsuits are investigating. Such cases should be based on the strength of evidence and a commitment to serving justice, not the political power of the perpetrator,” reads excerpts from the petition.

With 16000 members worldwide and headquarters in McLeod Ganj, the Tibetan Women’s Association is one of the largest NGOs of the Tibetan Diaspora.

If only we can gather millions of Dorje Shugden practitioners from the world to sign a petition on a website to request for an official BAN on DS and bring this petition to the human rights court to dis-ban what CTA was doing? If only!

I agree with icy that CTA needs to be very careful and not jeopardize with what HH Dalai Lama has "built" in the past few decades. HH Dalai Lama has brought Buddhism to a new height in the past few decades, and many people in the west has benefited from Buddha/Dharma because of HH Dalai Lama. HH Dalai is the peace icon for the world.

CTA, please be careful of your actions. Be kind to everyone, just like what HH Dalai has preached, and HH Dalai is your leader, so you better show kindness as what your leader has taught.

If you don't do this, eventually it will back fire and people will start accusing HH Dalai Lama because people will say HH can't even control his own people and just be kind.

I really hope this happens soon, everybody deserves to practise their own religion beliefs the way they want to, no one has the right to put a stop to this. How many families, friends, have been separated because of this ban, may all these broken relationships be mended soon.
