Now this is rather strange to say the least. I hypothesize that she knew she was pregnant and is hiding the identity of the father because it may well be someone she finds she needs to protect and have the "blame" and ridicule put upon herself.
I do not believe she got pregnant intentionally or she would have found some way of getting rid of the baby. If she did indeed break her vow of celibacy, what is breaking another by aborting... So I believe there is more to this story and I would like to think she is indeed protecting someone even though that someone has wronged her. I would still like to believe in humankind!
