H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama's Visit to California February 2014
« on: February 08, 2014, 10:27:04 AM »
The 14th Dalai Lama will make his appearance in Los Angeles on February 25 at 1:30 p.m., which is part of a four-day California swing. He is also scheduled to make appearances in San Francisco, Berkeley and Santa Clara.  The public talk will focus on sharing the value of social integrity.  “The theme will be non-violence and the effects of compassion in the 21st Century.  Lama Tenzin Dhonden, the personal peace emissary of the Dalai Lama,  hoped His Holiness’ words will make a significant contribution to minimizing the stresses people face in today’s world, where financial, environmental and social conflicts are constant.”

The Dalai Lama will also visit to Santa Clara University.  The event entitled “Business, Ethics, and Compassion: A Public Dialogue” will take place at the Leavey Event Center February 24 at 10 a.m.

The event, titled "How to Achieve Happiness," will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30a.m. on February 23 at the Berkeley Community Theater, on Berkeley High School's campus.

During the Dalai Lama's visit to New York City in October 2013, the North Amercian Gelug Buddhist Association (NAGBA) activists had been attacked by a Dalai Lama follower when they were peacefully distributing books and brochures on the true state of affairs of the controversy since they were not given a chance to clarify and explain by Radio Free Asia who only convey one side of the Dalai Lama's lie which resulted much suffering and violence on Shugden practitioners in Tibet.

Looking at the program and theme of the coming Dalai Lama's visit to California, the picture is painted all lovely and sweet of what the Dalai Lama will offer.  I wonder what will happen this time if NAGBA were to make their appearance again at these spots of the Dalai Lama's event to hand-out those books and brochures to non-informed westerners.  Will they be mobbed by angry Dalai Lama's followers again?  Having more information, will westerners be turned off by the Dalai Lama and lose faith in Buddhism?

How His Holiness Dalai Lama's team dare to even mention the words non-violence and preach about it when they themselves are causing so much physical pains and sufferings to their own people under their care. Just wondering what they are trying to achieve with these series of visits and talks while so many monks and Tibetans-in-exile are suffering in India due to the illogical ban imposed by them.
Yes, the courageous, NAGBA should be at these events again to disperse information to the westerners. May all the sufferings be made known to all.

Here is another interesting funny, hypocritical article, speech, preaching done... and the West still has no clue what is happening behind the scenes...

Clever people use religion to manipulate: Dalai Lama

hillong: Addressing an inter-faith audience at the Soso Tham auditorium on Wednesday, the Dalai Lama lamented that killings continue to happen in the name of different faiths. He said that while all religious traditions talk of love and have wonderful people in their fold some clever people use religion to manipulate others.

TRUE... What about those who are harming Dorje Shugden practitioners? Why won't you tell them to stop please Your Holiness?

Lauding the Christians missionaries for their excellent outreach efforts in health and education by sacrificing their comfortable lives to save others in far flung villages and even in Tibetan settlements, the Dalai Lama said, “We Tibetans are lagging behind in this.”

Very true. So why don't CTA spend money on improving health and education of Tibetans in exile instead of producing an anti-DS book to ignite hatred?

He mentioned Mother Teresa, Thomas Merton and Martin Luther King as people he greatly admired and said that it requires a lot of inner strength to do what they did and that inner strength comes from faith.

Speaking of the secularism practised by India, the Dalai Lama said that in India all religions are given equal worth. He said secularism is often misinterpreted by the western world to mean a complete distancing from religion or to be atheistic or anti-God.

So Dorje Shugden practitioners in India should be given equal worth, rights and freedom, no?

Speaking about conflicts arising out of religious differences he said that conflict in the name of religion has no basis. Pitching for religious harmony the Dalai Lama said there may be differences in philosophical views amongst different religions but the goals to promote love, compassion, forgiveness are the same. “I am fully committed to promoting communal harmony and not just idealistic views,” the Dalai Lama said.

Great... can Your Holiness please practice what is preached to your own people and lift the Ban on Dorje Shugden or at least tell your pro-Dalai Lama supporters to be compassionate and stop discriminating us and causing harmful violence, threatening the lives of Shugdenpas.

Pointing to India as a country that promotes a pluralist culture the Tibetan monk said, “India is a model for mutual respect and mutual learning,” adding that Indian should be proud about making singular contribution to the outside world.

So why don't Your Holiness adhere to it instead of side lining Dorje SHugden practitioners?

Referring to the monastic curriculum the Dalai Lama said it takes roughly 30 years of constant learning of the Nalanda tradition of Buddhism to make one a true Lama. “Anything short of that is just Lamaism where we derive lengthy names but our knowledge is short. Faith consists also of real knowledge but most Tibetans themselves don’t know the real knowledge,” he observed

Glad to know Your Holiness sees this problem, hence the fanatical pro-Dalai Lama followers who are out to cause harm to Shugden practitioners just because Dalai Lama says Dorje Shugden is "bad".

The revered monk said Buddhist faith is a combination of scientific knowledge about the mind, and emotion and of human psychology. He said without knowledge of science, faith has limited value. Buddhist have created a Mind and Life Institution in America, Europe, Japan and a similar idea is being promoted at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)

“Indian should pay attention to ancient philosophy about emotions and consciousness and ancient Indian psychology,”
the Dalai Lama concluded.

So does the Tibetans, CTA and all those pro-DalaiLama followers! Please pay attention, learn and apply to your Buddhist faith and philosophy of compassion and kindness!

Earlier people of different religious groups paid their respects to the Dalai Lama and also stated the intent of their respective faiths.

A cultural function featuring the combined cultural troupe of the Khasis, Jaintias and Garos performed for the Dalai Lama. Na Rympei a Khasi and rock fusion band held the Dalai Lama captivated. The Serenity Choir chanted a Tibetan prayer.

The Dalai Lama had a packed schedule on Wednesday but showed absolutely no sign of fatigue. After his luncheon date with the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues, the revered Tibetan monk met with media persons after which he rushed to the Soso Than auditorium for the Inter-faith meet and cultural exposure.

Probably because most Tibetans are not practising Dharma, the are practising Dalai Lama with a blind faith that His Holiness will help them FREE TIBET even though Dalai Lama has said many times He does not wish for a FREE TIBET any more but people still insist this.

What is worst is whatever His Holiness preaches, whatever teachings He gives on non-violence is never listened to or followed by his own followers, but they only select the ones they like. So the like and support it when HHDL says Dorje SHugden practice is bad and so are those who are practising it and fuels them to harm Shugden practitioners but in teachings of kindness and non-violence, they simply ignored. So where is the Guru Devotion, respect, faith, and Dharma here? There is obviously none.

I wonder if any any organisation will organise a peaceful rally in California. Not that I support a rally for such, but it will sure get some attention to the inconsistency of HH Dalai Lama's administration: CTA. Since this is a public talk on "non-violence", may be it is a good idea to make public the violence CTA has inflicted to the Dorje Shugden practitioners, including the recent violence incidents towards the old monk in Ganden.

I pray that human rights groups can pick up on this and help relieve the sufferings of the Dorje Shugden practitioners!

The likes of us supporters of Dorje Shugden are to be seen wherever His Holiness goes in the West, especially members of NKT. Most people think that we protest about insignificant issues within the tradition, but the truth is far from this. What the protests usually lack is information to hand out to the public when they walk past to inform them of what is really going on. We are vocal enough, but not many people understand what we are vocal about. This is where this website comes in, thank you for making all of this wonderful knowledge to readily available!

“The theme will be non-violence and the effects of compassion in the 21st Century."???? Oh no, what a wrong subject to be talking about so soon after the attack on Gen Chonze. In case any reader is unaware of what happened, read on:

It's a shame that the theme will be non violence. How can the theme be non violence when they are causing so much violence and physical harm to Dorje Shugden practitioners. HHDL may preached about non violence but in reality his followers are not practicing what he preached!

It strike a note when Freyr commented saying there is STILL lack of information still out there for the public to highlight the understanding of what is happening about the ban on Dorje Shugden and on the other hand, HH the Dalai Lama is out there visiting California with a theme on the public talk to focus on sharing the value of social integrity of non-violence and the effects of compassion in the 21st Century. Like what Freyr said - this forum and website is a place where we can disseminate unbiased information for public education on this issue.

We have not forgotten how Gen Chonze was attacked in Trijang Labrang recently and why would the NAGBA activists be attacked when they were only handing out information to the public? We are not against the Dalai Lama but he is someone who is a world peace leader and preach about non-violence but this is NOT happening to the followers who will use violence to incite on others to get what they want.

It would be interesting to hear the outcome of this coming public talk by the Dalai Lama in California and what his followers would do again, as it would reflect upon their action for "world peace".

Dalai Lama to begin 3-day swing through the Bay Area on Saturday.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet will make three scheduled speaking appearances in the Bay Area this weekend, culminating in an appearance Monday morning at Santa Clara University, where he will engage in a dialogue on the theme of "Compassion and Business." At his first appearance on Saturday, he will discuss "The Nature of Mind" at San Francisco's Davies Symphony Hall. On Sunday, his presentation in Berkeley will center on "How To Achieve Happiness."

That latter state of bliss will be difficult to achieve for anyone who doesn't already have a ticket because all of the Dalai Lama's appearances in the area are already sold out.

As spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the Dalai Lama has committed himself to the preservation of Tibetan Buddhist culture. That has put him at odds with the Communist leadership of the People's Republic of China, which has claimed authority to choose his successor. The Dalai Lama has said his reincarnation will not occur in a nation which is not free.

China's secular government has laid claim to approval rights in the naming of "high" reincarnations in Tibet, and they don't come any higher than the Dalai Lama. That split has often been the cause of protests at the Dalai Lama's appearances. For his talk at Santa Clara University, security precautions will be so tight that members of the audience are expected to arrive at Leavey Event Center by 8 a.m. for a program that begins at 10 a.m.

These are a series of demonstration organised by the International Shugden Community to coincide with the Dalai Lama's visit to California to bring light to the prosecution and curtailing of religious freedom of Shudenpas by the peaceful icon of Buddhism of all time.  I hope these protests will create awareness and bring down the ban!

Hundreds of Buddhists Protest, Accusing the Dalai Lama of Religious Persecution and Human Rights Abuses
Impassioned protests against the Dalai Lama will be staged this week during his speaking engagements in California by the International Shugden Community. Demonstrators are accusing the Dalai Lama of using his political power to ban a mainstream religious practice and create a religious apartheid, segregation, and system of persecution in the Tibetan exile community, including refusal of medical treatment, violent attacks on citizens and making hundreds of monks homeless.

Buddhist monks demonstrate against the Dalai Lama's human rights abuses
By our demonstrating at his public events, we are telling the Dalai Lama to 'Stop lying, stop harming millions of people, stop abusing basic human rights, and stop religious discrimination'. Should we expect any less from this supposed 'man of peace'?

Demonstrations:
Saturday, Feb 22 - San Francisco - Davies Symphony Hall, 1pm – 5pm
Sunday, Feb 23 – Berkeley - Berkeley Community Theater 7.30am – 11am
Monday, Feb 24 – Santa Clara - Leavey Event Center Santa Clara University 8.30am - 12.30pm
Tuesday Feb 25th – Los Angeles - The Forum, Inglewood 10.30am – 2.30pm

Here is what Lisa Amin Gulezian reported on the demonstration at Bay Area:

Lisa Amin Gulezian
More: Bio, E-mail, Facebook, News Team

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Dalai Lama is in the Bay Area for a series of receptions and talks. The Tibetan spiritual leader arrived at SFO Friday for the first of three events. But not everybody welcomed him Saturday in San Francisco.

The Dalai Lama wrapped up his event at Davie's Symphony Hall late Saturday afternoon. But during the entire speech inside, protesters were across the street.

More than 100 members of the international Shugden community chanted for hours. They accuse the Dalai Lama of religious persecution and human rights abuses.

Those who follow the Shugden practice of Buddhism claim the Dalai Lama has publicly denounced their traditions and beliefs.
Meantime, inside the event Saturday, attendees said the Dalai Lama actually addressed the issue and the protesters.

"His whole piece is they really don't understand the issues and he'd be happy to be in dialogue but they're not well educated about what they're saying and I think that's true," Nancy Haugen said.

"He's enforced that through his powerful speech and actions and he's enforcing it and people then are thrown out of schools, can't get jobs in the government, can't enter banks, can't have a regular life," Buddhist nun Kelsang Lekma said. "They're excommunicated from their exiled communities."

The Dalai Lama's motorcade drove past the protesters after leaving Davies Symphony hall Saturday afternoon.

He will speak at similar events Sunday in Berkeley and on Monday in Santa Clara.

And the protesters promise to be at all of those events as well.
