Do enjoy this interesting documentary video on the life and death including sky burials at Sertar Larung Gar Buddhist Institute in Sertar, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, China as seen through the film maker over a year.  Setar Larung Gar is headed currently by Tulku Tenzin Gyatso and was founded by Jigme Puntsok is the world biggest institution with 20,000 monks and nuns living therein in every waking moment observing ascetic practices and studies.  Besides Tibetans, there are increasingly numbers of Han Chinese joining the sangha seeking liberation from worldly passions.

This is really an interesting video of Sertar Larung Gar Buddhist Institute. I rejoice to see so many Tibetans and Han Chinese alike joining the Institute and practicing the pure teachings of the Buddha the Tibetan way. The trainings, from classes by the Tulku, Khenpo and Chinese language teachers, sky burials, debates, nun's basic but fulfilling lifestyle is really inspiring. The teachings of the Buddha is the ultimate truth and without contradictions and these monks and nuns, numbering 20,000 is spiritual, wholesome and enlightening. I rejoice that Buddhism, especially Tibetan Buddhism is being accepted widely. Note also that the Institute is primarily supported by the lay community that comes from all over China. This is how the Buddha intended it to be. Also, not politics in sight.

Wow. What a documentary. It is good to know that Buddhism is flourishing in China without politics and in unity between the Tibetans and the Han Chinese. Buddhism is the common ground that unites the people these diverse background. People from all sorts of background, from a nun who worked with a German company to a factory worker gave up their previous lifestyles to practice Buddhism purely; living simple but fulfilling lives.

Everything seems so holistic and complete. The nuns also mentioned that she has a "scholarship" or stipend from the institute that is in turn financed by the lay peoples' offerings. The lay supporting the Sangha is truly the way it should be. If only the mass consciousness of the world is such, it would be completely beneficial to all.

Thanks for sharing this documentary with us. Tibetan Buddhism is definitely prevalent in the history of China since its spread and practice by the Chinese Emperors. It is not surprising that Tibetan Buddhism is on its rise again also due to the practice of Dorje Shugden as an act in defiance against the Dalai Lama, but I guess it is also due to the effectiveness of the practice.

Nice sharing. Good to know that Tibetan Buddhism is flourishing in China. This religion has been practice by the Chinese Emperors and with the blessings of Dorje Shugden it is now more popular in China.

What a great view of seeing crowd of spiritual seekers drawn naturally to wherever the truth of Lord Buddha was expound. I rejoice that Buddhism could come to another great height in this degenerated era and this scenario is the same as during Je Tsongkhapa’s time and later during the Great Pabongka Rinpoche’s time where he gave the 24 days discourses on the Lamrim teachings, where huge amount of people both ordain or lay would come from all over Tibet traveling great distances to partake in his teaching.
