Gaden Shartse Monastery’s new abbot is not compassionate
« on: February 27, 2018, 12:58:39 PM »
Quote
"MUNDGOD – Some disturbing news has come to light recently with the publication of two letters detailing the expulsion of monks from Gaden Shartse and Sera Jey Monasteries. Contrary to what the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA; Tibetan leadership in Dharamsala) has falsely claimed, the purge and expulsion of Dorje Shugden monks from Tibetan monasteries continues.

The Gaden Shartse Monastery letter is particularly disturbing because it was leaked for publication just a few days ago, showing that the Dorje Shugden ban and issue is not over. Both letters were published on their respective monasteries’ letterheads, no doubt with the involvement and approval of the abbots who are still actively dividing and creating schism within the sangha."

It is extremely disappointing that another one of the “three great” Gelug monastic universities of Tibet has clearly fallen to the hands of a (samsarically) ambitious one who clearly deviated from what Buddha has taught. Even non-Buddhist have the general understanding that compassion and tolerance are the essence of Buddhism. And yet we have a supposedly highly learned Abbot enforcing discrimination and intolerance. It doesn’t take a genius to be able to gauge the motivation of this so-called Abbot.

It is such a disappointment that instead of following the Buddhist teachings people in high positions such as the abbot of Gaden acts as if he has never heard about Buddha's teachings.

I can only hope that they wake up fast and stop such harmful behaviour!

Echo Pema8's sentiment about the cessation of such harmful behaviour. After all, no matter how hard people want to justify such expulsions, it is undeniable that such expulsions stemmed from discrimination and intolerance. And what is also irrefutable is that a supposedly highly learned Abbot tasked to helm a great Buddhist monastic establishment is discarding Buddha’s teachings and instead enforcing discrimination and intolerance. It really is such a shame to have to see yet again such blatant evidence of politics infiltrating great Buddhist monastic institutions.

This is just another opportunist who wants nothing but money. He will do more un-monkly actions and go against the Vinaya just to get what he wants. You will see. This is just the first step of his plan for fame, power and money. Sad to say, less and less monk are sincere in practicing the dharma. Gaden Shartse used to be known to produce erudite masters. They are never political like Drepung. Since the ban, they somehow decided to be on the political scene and they sucked at it. Because they have no manage to garner any support from the CTA nor have they manage to use that to their advantage - to produce more erudite masters of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Indeed Rowntree, instead of teaching Dharma, they practice Samsara as the abbot  follows fame, power and money... Very sad!

The new abbot goes against even his basic vows, the refuge vows by kicking out Dorje Shugden practitioners. What is there more to say!?!

Does he remember what happened to the previous Gaden Tripa? The 103rd Gaden Tripa Lobsang Tenzin 1937-2017 had only a tenure of FOUR MONTHS.

Dorje Shugden is the emanation of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom and therefore it is heavy negative karma to speak against Him and disturb practitioners. I hope the new abbot will reflect on that.
