Tibetan leadership totally had it coming in their way this time. It is their bad karma manifesting on them right now. They have created the 2 Karmapa situation by recognizing Karmapa Ogyen Trinley despite knowing that Sharmapa had already recognized the Karmapa. They know very well that it is Sharmapa's authoritative to recognize the Karmapa and they have totally no power over the recognition of the Karmapa.
However, they use His Holiness's fame and exposure to trick the public into believing that the Karmapa that they recognize is the real one. They have created this 2 Karmapa situation which caused a rift in the Karma Kagyu sect. On top of that, the Tibetan leadership has been hoping to use the Karmapa as the successor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama so that they are able to retain the control over the Tibetans in Exile.
Now that Karmapa is rebelling against them, whatever evil schemes that they have been plotting for so long will be down the drain. When His Holiness the Dalai Lama passed away, there will have no one to command over the Tibetans and they will lose their grip on the Tibetans once and for all.
The CTA has its own agenda when they recognised the Karmapa Ogyen Trinley. In fact, they don't have the authority to do so because it is a religious matter that is managed independently by each tradition. Just like the Dalai Lama or any Gelug lineage reincarnate lamas, they don't need the recognition from the CTA or a lama of another tradition.
The CTA is doing it for political reasons. Everyone knows the CTA needs to have a successor to take over the responsibility of the Dalai Lama to generate money for them and to command people. The Karmapa Ogyen Trinley became the most suitable one because is a very famous lama with many followers. The CTA wanted to groom the Karmapa to become their political puppet.
However, if we look at the tradition, the Karmapa has never been involved in politics. He has always been a Dharma teacher. It will be hard to make him a political figure. He has expressed his frustrations of not being able to carry out his duty as a Dharma teacher before.
To Karmapa, it is more important to spread Dharma than to be politically correct. He doesn't really care if India and CTA are going to be happy with him, he just wants to leave India and do what he has to do. He may have angered the CTA and the Indian government but at least he can fulfill his mission to spread and teach Dharma.
