Gaden Khangsar in Kathmandu, Nepal, shuts!
« on: August 10, 2019, 04:54:19 PM »
I was told by someone that the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office in Kathmandu which is also known as Gaden Khangsar, located in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, has shut.

It is well known that the Nepali government is not inclined to have the CTA or any other organisation for that matter, jeopardise its economic and political interests when it comes to its goal of nation building.

The number of Tibetan "refugees" into Nepal have trickled down to very few for various pull-push factors including the fact that Tibet itself today, offers tremendously better economic opportunities for Tibetans.

Therefore, I guess there has been literally no activities at Gaden Khangsar for a long time.

The CTA, rather than being of the "middle-way" as it paints itself to be, is indeed a dangerous, divisive, thorn which many governments including the one in Nepal, understand.

Oh wow, the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office in Kathmandu is closed! I think this is not a surprising news since Nepal has already cut their ties with the CTA. Therefore, the Gaden Khangsar should not be there, it serves no purpose.

I wonder if the CTA feels their status and position is on the edge now. They have lost more friendship in the past few years than gaining more support from other countries. Even their 'best' friend, Taiwan, has also cut the ties with them.

It is very obvious that the Free Tibet movement is not going to succeed. For the welfare and the sake of the Tibetans, the CTA and Lobsang Sangay should really have a peaceful dialogue to get the automous status for Tibet. This will be a win-win situation.

There is really no need for the CTA to have an office in Nepal anymore since Nepal has chosen to be on China's side. Nepal is a developing country and they need help to grow its economy. China can help Nepal to progress and grow but what can the CTA give to Nepal?

Nowadays, it is easier to obtain information on the internet than before. People can see how Tibet has changed over the years. The Chinese government did not suppress the use and learning of Tibetan language, they give religious freedom to the Tibetans as long as it does not pose a threat to the national security.

Therefore, when the CTA starts to condemn the Chinese government using the humanity issue, nobody really believes it. People also know the CTA has been stirring things up in China to create disharmony and havoc. CTA will not be able to use their poor-me story to gain support from other countries anymore.

Nepal is very clear that they will not support the Tibetan anymore. Hence, there is no need for them to have an office in Nepal. Tibetans are losing their ally quite fast and they really have to realise what is happening around the world and not stuck in their own world.

The world had moved on but they have still stuck in their own world 60 years ago. China had risen to be one of the most powerful countries in the world while Tibetans remain as refugees. This clearly shows that Tibetans have no plans on working to get back to their country because it is just way too much work.

They prefer to stay in India and enjoy their refugee status and scam donations from all over the world by portraying themselves as the victim. Times have changed and the world realises what Tibetans is not trying hard enough and hence the amount of donations declined over the years.

I wonder when will we hear the good news that the CTA has shut down too? Perhaps this would be far better for the exile Tibetans who a so divided now thanks to the CTA!

Well, at least this time the Nepalese are being 'smart' and is doing all they can to comply with China who is not only loaning them millions but also building for them I heard. So they have every right to protect their jindak. Anyway, who wants to see and hear the chaos and silly Tibetans protesting Free Tibet? All they do is create drama which people are no longer interested in. Time to move on...

I think CTA will be gone very soon. So many countries have cut their ties with CTA, no one really sees any value in associating with them. But CTA is still so arrogant thinking the rest of world has to take pity on them and they obligated to help the Tibetans.

Many people has seen how corrupted and ungrateful CTA is by now. Look at how they are treating India! Knowing India wants to have a better relationship with China, CTA is still creating problems for India. The protests they organise in India has made China very upset. It seems like CTA wants to sabotage the relationship between India and China.

There are more signs and indications showing the CTA is losing their support and they will not live long but yet they can totally ignore this and not do something about it. Tibetans should plan for their future and not wait for CTA. CTA does not have a good track record in anything they do except travelling around the world and enjoying themselves using the public fund.

Obviously Nepal is not interested with Tibetan issue and probably seeing Tibetan now as part of China or Nepal government just doesn't want to deal with CTA for anything. Nepal recently say no to the celebration of Dalai Lama birthday, worry that Tibetan protest and self-immolation. Both of the act encourage by CTA which many countries leaders are not happy with. They just want to look after the peace and harmony of their country. CTA will not look at that and the more havoc situation is the more reason CTA will take and blame the Chinese and at the same time ask for donation. CTA will just keep creating suffering and separation within Tibetan. Soon more and more countries will close down the Tibetan office and may just treat them as part of China. Tibetan in India may just end up stay in India and their last choice may just take up Indian citizenship if they can't get through with China to return back to Tibet. By looking at CTA act that continuously irking China, Tibetan faith in India will not be good. Thanks to CTA!

Since years ago, Nepal has already been very clear on their stance with regards to the Tibet issue. Nepal is a very poor country. They don't have much natural resources, the industry that can help them to generate income is the tourism industry. Chinese tourists are their biggest income generator.

Besides tourism, China is also one of biggest foreign investors in Nepal. China can help Nepal to develop their economy and bring Nepal prosperity. What can the Tibetans give to Nepal? Having associated with the Tibetans will jeopardise their relationship with China.

If CTA can add value to others, things might be different. But they don't have the intention to make things different for themselves. They continue to create problems to India and other countries. All they do is complaining how they are victimised.

Nepal is totally not wanting anything from the Tibetan. They have rejected CTA from having any open celebration for Dalai Lama birthday reason being that Nepal doesn't what to be risked with demonstration, self-immolation or any other activities that will compromise the peace of the nation. Nepal government did a right move to totally move out any offices of Tibetan so there should not have anything to do in Nepal.

This action from Nepal is totally created by CTA themselves. Many countries are being compassionate with the Tibetan situation but CTA takes advantage of it and created an unpeace movement to show their dissatisfaction with China that affected the host country. CTA should reflect their action and this will not serve any good for them and their future in Nepal.

China is the biggest foreign investor in Nepal. Many infrastructure projects in Nepal are a joint venture project between Nepal and China. Roads are built to connect many cities with Kathmandu. There are also projects to develop and improve the power supply in Nepal. Working with China brings prosperity to the country, but associating with the Tibetans doesn't bring any benefit. Most of the time Tibetans will create troubles for the host country. For example, the Tibetans have organised so many protest against China in India when they know India is trying to build a better relationship with China.

So Nepal is becoming stringent with Tibetans in Nepal and is deporting them back to Tibet, China but the US wants Nepal to protect them and bring up human rights again. They should really look at their own human rights issues in the US first before sticking their noses on someone else's country.

And Why does the US always think what they say must be obeyed? Can't Nepal decide for themselves who they allow into their country and not? Who they wish to be allies with - China and not? What has US done for Nepal?

Where were the US when Nepal had its earthquakes killing so many a destroying their precious heritage sites? Are they helping them rebuild and helping their economy? Nope. But they want to have a say who they should allow into their country and not? Being arrogantly ignorant is not going to help them be great ever again.

Quote
US Congressmen urges Nepal Govt to “fully protect the human rights of Tibetans in Nepal”

Washington DC: US Congressmen James P. McGovern (D-MA) and Christopher H. Smith (R-NJ), Co-Chairs of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, have released a letter to the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal urging the Nepalese government to fully protect the human rights of Tibetans in Nepal.

The Co-Chairs were joined by six other Members of Congress including Chairman Eliot L. Engel and Ranking Member Michael T. McCaul of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Chairman David Price and Co-Chair Vern Buchanan of the House Democracy Partnership, and Reps. Pramila Jayapal and Steve Chabot.

The letter expressed concern about the deportation back to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) of six Tibetans who crossed into Nepal from the PRC in September, in apparent violation of Nepal’s obligation of non-refoulement. A crackdown on the Tibetan community around the time of the October visit to Nepal by PRC President Xi Jinping, the worrying prospect of an extradition treaty between Nepal and the PRC, the increasingly stringent restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression suffered by Tibetans in Nepal, and the essentially stateless status of many members of the Tibetan community were also raised.

The Members of Congress urged Nepal to halt deportations of Tibetans, refrain from the use of preventive detention and register all Tibetan refugees living in Nepal. These steps would ensure that Tibetans’ human rights would be fully protected in keeping with Nepal’s international obligations and its moral imperatives as a multiethnic, multifaith society.
