Nepal detains Dalai Lama’s Kathmandu representative

(TibetanReview.net, Mar09, 2010)  Ahead of expected protests during the 51st Tibetan National Uprising Day on Mar 10, Police in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu have taken into custody on Mar 7 Mr Thinley Gyatso, the Dalai Lama’s representative there, reported the Times of India Online Mar 7.

The detention was seen as a bid by Nepal, under relentless pressure from China, to prevent anti-China demonstrations in the country on the day observed by Tibetans worldwide as their national uprising day against Chinese occupation rule.

Getting Nepal to crackdown on Tibetans protesting against China and strengthening the border security to prevents more Tibetans from escaping from Chinese rule have been a major focus of China’s Nepal policy recently. China has greatly increased aid to Nepal recently and tied these, ostensibly, to cracking down more intensely on Tibetan protests and refugee escapes.

Nepal closed down the Office of Tibet in Kathmandu, headed by the Dalai Lama’s representative, in 2005. The IANS news service Mat 7 said Thinley has been functioning as the head of an NGO called the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Centre.

Mental illnesses among the young rising
March 10, 2010

"Panchen Lama Arrives Just In Time! "

"The mental health of China's youngsters is on the decline, with 60 percent of college students feeling isolated and 80 percent feeling injustice and subdued, according to a national survey."

Flourishing of the Dharma in China,
Is a Miracle to Behold,
and will Burn like a Prarie Fire,
Up to Tibet,
Bringing the Dharma at last,
Untainted by Serf OverLords
The People smile,
look inside
to Read for Themselves
The Teachings Of Lord Buddha
No longer sitting in muted illiterate silence
They now can decide for themselves
Mandatory Education
Liberates the Individual
They now can choose for themselves
and no longer 'Speaking Tooks,
No longer chattel
Freed from tyranny
Makes My Heart Soar Like a Eagle
Dorje Shugden Is Now China'a Protector
The Panchen Lama is Installed
Wisdom will be his middle name,
Trustworthy will be his first,
Compassion and Love,
Will be his last!
Shri Dorje Shugden
The Supreme Dharma Protector
The Global Dharma Protector
Calls each one of us to action
to Defend His Lineage for All Of You!
Each One of Us,
to be his Dharma Practioners,
and find equilibrium!

Dear Lhakpa Gyaltshen, thanks for the beautiful poem you posted. I experience great joy to know that Dorje Shugden will protect China and it's youth with wisdom, trustworthiness, compassion and love. As one of the most influential nation of today and tomorrow, I am very grateful that DS will shed Dharma seeds into the minds of the young Chinese so that they will have the opportunity to meet and practice Dharma.

If China can pressure Nepal to arrest Thinley Gyatso (which may be beneficial as this will prevent history repeating itself where people get badly hurt as a result of the demonstration)...If China can pressure America to postpone and tone down President Obama's meeting with the 14th Dalai Lama, China can also "pressure" the world to practice Dharma and benefit sentient beings IF it chooses to. Now, the trick question is: Why and how will China make this choice?

As the Chinese government strives to achieve recognition economically and politically in the last decades, the issue of human rights had always stood in its way. What would be a better way to show the world that China is making progress in its efforts to respect human rights than to permit and encourage spiritual growth (although monitored and censored)?! This could be one of the reasons for installing the Panchen Lama and propagating Dorje Shugden practice.

Although the motivation may not be pure, China has started the turning of the Wheel of Dharma which will eventually cause great benefit for the growth of Dharma and all sentient beings. In this, I rejoice!
