Political Dharma
« on: June 03, 2010, 06:27:36 PM »
In the Shugden Controversy those on the side opposing the Dalai Lama are against political Buddhism, like me. I think we as Shugdenpas should still hold His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a great Bodhisattva and remember his great work for world peace and follow his message of compassion. Whether Old Tibet was bad or not is beside the point. His Holiness is making exile Tibet as democratic as possible. He is still not perfect but that is all political. I think when any faith gets involved in politics corruption and bad things will happen. The Chinese have chosen a fake Panchen Lama Gyancain Norbu and are using him as a political tool to control Tibet. On both sides of the issue of Shugden politics is being used to harm dharma. This website is great for info on our Dharmapala, but we should not support Gyancain Norbu as Panchen Lama. Dharma is the pure doctrine of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni and Chinese nor Tibetan Exile Government's politics should be allowed to harm it.

May all beings reading this be happy and free of suffering!

How do you know he's not a manifestion of the Panchen Lama ?
Methinks Buddha arent bound from helping others just because people see them as ordinary or false.
I always stick by that the true "Reincarnated masters of the Ganden tradition are those who actually fufill the role of their practise rather then hold the title but contradict the role"

I personally can't stand politics.. it is so incompatible with religion - like oil and water. However, in Tibet, these two seem to be inextricably entwined. The China issue particularly irks me because all Shugdenpas are labelled China supporters. I neither support nor am I against China... it's a country far from me and I have no desire to visit it as yet. With regards to the Panchen Lama - i am of the same thinking as Zach - what if the Panchen Lama has manifested as Gyancain Norbu? I read somewhere that HE Gangchen Rinpoche has accepted Gyancain Norbu as the Panchen Lama and as I believe Gangchen Rinpoche is an enlightened Being, his endorsement of Gyancain Norbu is all I need. I will also watch this young man with interest - the real Panchen Lama will reveal himself, I'm sure.

I totally agree.  Don't you know that the Dalai Lama IS the Tibetan Exile Government?  They do exactly what he says which indicates that the whole ban on Dorje Shugden practice, the subsequent 'wanted poster' campaign and ostracism and persecution of Dorje Shugden practitioners is due to the Dalai Lama's wishes.

This is one reason why I won't be regarding the Dalai Lama as a great Bodhisattva.  How do these actions fit with his public message of compassion?

What if the Panchen Lama is both boys? Surely as a being in full control of his mind and rebirth, he can manifest in two forms...like Heruka in Zong Rinpoche and Pabongka Rinpoche? Where did you read that wisdombeing? Would be really interested to check it out myself.
