In this text Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors,[108] Trijang Rinpoche gives three main reasons why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha:

1.Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen was the final incarnation of a lineage of realized masters who were already recognised as fully enlightened. Therefore, how could the incarnation of Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen as Dorje Shugden be a spirit?

Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen, as is taught in the lineage, was the final birth in a reincarnation lineage that included the mahasiddha Birwapa, the great Kashmiri pandit Shakya Shri, the omniscient Buton, Dultzin Dragpa Gyaltsen, Panchen Sonam Dragpa, and so forth; this is proven by valid scriptural quotation and reasoning. These great beings, from a definitive point of view, were already fully enlightened and, even to common appearances, every one of them was a holy being that attained high states of realization. What worse karma could there be than denying this and asserting that he was reborn in the preta realm?

2. Since these incarnations had practised pure moral discipline for centuries, to say that Dorje Shugden is a spirit is to deny Buddha's teachings on the law of karma.

Therefore, for holy beings it is not at all far-fetched that they might show themselves in a wrathful form out of the power of compassion and prayer for the sake of a special purpose, and it should be recognized that they are emanations of Buddha's inconceivable secret qualities. But for them to take birth as a sky? wandering preta through the force of negative throwing karma like an ordinary preta would be utterly impossible. To say it were possible would be to deny the validity of the natural law of cause and effect. Why? From the definitive point of view those holy beings are fully enlightened. Moreover, even from the common point of view, they attained high states of realization in reliance upon guarding their moral discipline as they would their eyes, from youth onwards throughout their lives. To say that a causal factor of pure ethical discipline could result in rebirth in a lower realm of existence would be to assert that actions performed could be wasted; that one could experience the results of actions not performed by oneself; and that such scriptural statements as 'From generosity, wealth, from ethics, happiness' are invalid, and so forth. As a consequence, one would be turning ones back on Buddha's teachings as a whole.

3.Since the previous incarnations of Dorje Shugden were enlightened beings, if you asserted that Dorje Shugden was a spirit you would be asserting that degeneration from enlightenment was possible, or you would have to accept that the stories of these earlier incarnations were lies.

Furthermore, the definitive point of view, that these holy beings were already fully enlightened innumerable ages ago, is clear if one examines the accounts of their lives, and if one were to say that a fully enlightened being could take birth as an ordinary gyalpo or tsen spirit, then one would be asserting that degeneration is possible from the state of full enlightenment or that someone could be both fully enlightened and an ordinary preta at the same time! Or else one would have to say that the accounts of those great beings' lives are worthless.

A mountain of absurd consequences, previously non?existent distorted ideas, would have to be accepted.

Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang has presented these three reasons to show why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha.

These three reasons are based on the foundation of Mahayana- the belief in the lineage of incarnate Enlightened Beings who return again and again to fulfill their Bodhisattva Vow of bringing all beings to Full Enlightenment , and on the two Principals of Buddhism which are irrefutable - the Law of Cause and Effect( Karma) and the Principle that a fully Enlightened Being cannot degenerate into a being of samsara let alone a being of the lower realms of samsara.

Thus the first reason why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha is that he arose from Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was the final incarnation in a lineage of incarnate Enlightened Beings, all of whom were realized great masters, including the Mahasiddha Birwapa.

The second reason is that all the incarnations, including Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen, practiced pure morality. Thus it is impossible, according to karma, that Dorje Shugden could be a being of the Preta Realm; impossible for the cause - practice of pure morality - to result in rebirth in a lower realm.

Finally, it is impossible for the lineage of fully  enlightened beings to degenerate into preta realm spirits, though out of compassion they will assume wrathful forms to aid sentient beings.

With these clear and irrefutable reasons, Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang has already pre-empted all possible casting of Dorje Shugden into the negative roles of wrathful, vengeful spirits. Hence this again undeniable points to the Dalai Lama's anti-Shugden stance and the ban on Shugden practice as part of a bigger picture where two great Holy Beings and Buddhas are working together to promote the spread of Dharma for the benefit of all beings in this degenerate age.

@vajrastorm thanks for revealing this gem up again, especially the 3rd reason. If we can reverse from being enlightened to unenlightened then truly we should burn all Buddhist texts and Buddha was a charlatan. 

If such were the case there is no hope for beings like us, there will not be an end to samsara at all. Our Buddhist refuge will have no meaning and no effect to protect us from samsara!

Yes, it's true. If Buddhas and Enlightened Beings can degenerate, then there's no hope for us to attain ultimate freedom from samsara; and taking Refuge in the Three Jewels, as a gateway to the Path to Liberation and Enlightenment would hold no meaning.

I would like to point out that Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang did not only  give clear irrefutable reasons as to why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha(as above). In 'Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors' he also says ordinary beings may not understand the ways of Enlightened Beings, through their emanations,  like the Dalai Lama, an emanation of Avalokiteshvara. But their actions, ie Dorje Shugden's and the Dalai Lama's are "each as mutually universal and pervasive as the other" . As Enlightened Beings , their actions are motivated by great compassion. Seriously, as Trijang Rinpoche says, if Dorje Shugden were a spirit, " it is utterly impossible that such great beings who are special emanations of (e.g.) Arya Avalokiteshvara could lack the power to overcome the harmful force" of such a spirit.

Finally, Trijang Rinpoche  also tells us that , "to the common view, it is difficult to fully understand the appearances of holy great Aryas and their inconceivable three secrets(body, speech and mind) at the definitive level". He then gives the example of Buddha Shakyamuni and Devadatta(who is supposed to be Lord of the Gods and will become Tathagata Devaraja limitless aeons from now).   

Thus it is that,as Trijang Rinpoche has warned us, we should not be partisan in the seeming Dorje Shugden- Dalai Lama controversy. What may sound contradictory, as coming from the Dalai Lama,  now, will be revealed as skilful means of a compassionate Enlightened Being in the future.

How can an erudite master be wrong about this? Most of the people who are in the Buddhist world will definitely hear of this great Lama and His Holiness's wonderful works of serving the Dharma. I personally have also received benefits from doing Dorje Shugden's prayers and He never 'demands' for anything in return but only asking us to study the Buddha Dharma well, therefore I will never believe that He is unenlightened nor I will doubt if He's a spirit or not because He is a Buddha and I trust Him!

Thank you for sharing this information, what a possible reason that this enlighten master be wrong , thus whatever that claim by CTA us wrong if we really read the history of DS he is the true emanation of Buddha Manjushri how can people claim that DS is a spririt.
