Dear Wisdom Being,  Thank you for this wonderful video of Sampheling monastery. It is so beautiful to imagine Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche has once walked through these walkways to give teachings and advice to the predecessors of these monks. Have you guys read the autobiography of Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche?   When Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche first came here in his previous life, he was not at all welcome.

But through his hard work, sincerity, great compassion and wisdom in teaching the monks, everybody turned around and began to respect and love Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche a lot. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche completely revitalized the monastery and he is remembered today for the great High Lama that he was. It was because of Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche that the monastery is a stalwart upholder of Dorje Shugden’s lineage.

I have nothing particular to say, all Chatring-Pa (the people who live in this region) whether you are in India, Europe, and America etc, I have one very important request to you, you all must sincerely follow and respect to our precious His Holiness Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche. He is the one living Buddha in our time. We must not have wrong views, and do not follow the wrong path. The way to our enlightenment is to follow the Buddhas, and our lineage holder is from Tsongkhapa to the present Masters, and our protector is Dharmapala Dorjee Shugden.

In the Chatring region from beginning till now, we are following and practicing those high beings. This is the gift to you from your elder generation.   Wherever you are living and staying, you should always obey the laws and regulations of the country of one’s residence. My last wishes are that you have a very long life and may the activities of His Holiness Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche flourish. Wherever you are, you must stand united for this issue. Lastly, Tashi Deleg to all.

Below is an excerpt taken from a speech delivered by His Eminence Dagpo Rinpoche in November 1996, when he welcomed to Paris the fourteen-year-old reincarnation, Kyabje Chocktrul Rinpoche Tenzin Lobsang Yeshe Gyatso:

For the benefit of the new people who have joined us today, I will mention all too briefly the activities that have been accomplished by your predecessors, Rinpoche. The beneficial deeds of a supreme guide such as yourself are truly countless. In fact, only a Buddha endowed with the ten powers can comprehend them.

If I limit myself only to what you have dedicated yourself to doing in the Land of Snows, there would still be countless deeds to relate. There are so many wonderful and complex tales, melodies that can enthrall those with the gift of understanding, melodies that can fill them with faith. The whole topic is inexhaustible; I have given up trying to cover it. Today I will limit myself to just a few words about how, from the distant past, at all times and in all places, you have continued to work together with the Lord of the world Avalokiteśvara to achieve the good of beings and to give them access to the Teachings.

To accomplish this, both of you have shown yourselves capable of every conceivable kind of relationship. You have alternated the role of Master with that of disciple, the role of donor with that of chaplain, parent, friend, or servant.

From the immense ocean of deeds that you have thus carried out together, I will take a very small drop, a drop no bigger than the pearl that sparkles at the tip of a human hair, but quite enough to inspire faith. Everyone knows that our Tibet has long benefitted from the Lord of the World Avalokiteśvara’s caring protection.

He appeared at different times as king or as minister, as learned pandit or as a complete siddha. Each time, he made the light of religion and culture shine brightly so as to dispel the darkness that enveloped Tibet, and each time you were at his side.

In the eighth century when Avalokiteśvara manifested as the great king Trisong Detsen, you, Rinpoche, were the pandit Śāntarakṣita, the Indian monk who brought and established in Tibet the tradition of vows and religious commitment which form the basis of Buddha’s Teachings. It was you who brought to light the vast and profound systems, while assuming the shape of the victorious Padmasambhava, first among the Tantrikas. As such, you overcame the obstacles that stood in the way of spreading the Dharma on earth. It was you also who passed the profound and secret teachings to the King and his ministers (how lucky they were!) and thus justified their waiting.

When the good qualities of human beings and the doctrine declined, you were the second Buddha, well known by the name of Atiśa Dīpaṃkāra Śrījñāna. During the middle of the eleventh century you founded the Kadampa tradition with the help of his spiritual son Dromtönpa Gyalwé Jungne, who was none other than Avalokiteśvara.

In order to consolidate and spread that tradition, you soon reappeared under the name of Lang-ri Thangpa Dorje Senge, well known as the eminent guardian of bodhicitta, in other words, a bodhisattva.

Some time afterwards, the good qualities of human beings diminished yet again, and the doctrine underwent another decline. You immediately assumed the shape of the second Buddha Je Tsongkhapa. That time your disciple was Avalokiteśvara, later considered the First Dalai Lama. Together you took it upon yourselves to spread and expand the Teachings of the Buddha throughout the entire country.

Shortly afterwards, you were Mönlam Pelwa, one of the First Dalai Lama’s main disciples. You succeeded yourself, becoming the eighth Ganden Tripa, that is, the eighth head of the Gelugpa school.

Later on, as the head of the Kagyupa order, you were the eighth Karmapa, Mikyö Dorje, close friend of the Second Dalai Lama Gendun Gyatso.

When you returned to the school of the Nyingmapas in the seventeenth century, you were the dazzlingly brilliant light with the name of Zurchen Chöying Rangdröl, one of the Fifth Dalai Lama Ngawang Gyatso’s principal Masters.

Next, during two consecutive lives, you again took charge of the Gelug school: you were the sixty-ninth Ganden Tripa, Trichen Jangchub Chöpel, who was also the tutor of the Ninth Dalai Lama Lungtog Gyatso, and later the eighty-fifth Ganden Tripa, Trichen Lobsang Tsultrim.

And now we come to your immediate predecessor Kyabje Yongdzin Trijang Dorje Chang Chenpo, who for forty years was assistant and then tutor of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama.

Here you have a brief reminder of how and for how long you and the Buddha Avalokiteśvara have been doing significant and enduring work for the benefit of sentient beings.

NAGBA was specifically founded to preserve the Gelug teachings with Dorje Shugden as their principal Dharma Protector. This is a Tibetan talk show. It is very inspiring to see Dorje Shugden Lamas like Legthang Tenzin Gyatso getting more publicity.

Legthang Tenzin Gyatso is the Chief Director of the Dharma Bridge Foundation. The Foundation provides English language education at Shar Gaden and other Buddhist Monasteries in Nepal and India.

Their goal is to work hand in hand with the already existing educational programs at the monasteries, providing valuable assistance to meet the educational needs of the monks in their studies. The monks in these monasteries are the future of our lineage. It is these monks who will carry the pure Gelug lineage into the future.

Using English as a tool, they will be able to spread our lineage into every corner of the globe so that the spiritual needs of countless beings would be met.

Panchen Lama delivers first speech outside Chinese mainland

The Panchen Lama is being groomed by China to rival the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama. On Thursday, he made his first speech outside the Chinese mainland, highlighting the emergence of Dharma from ancient India and the need for its global promotion.

“In religion, Dharma means the law or the natural law and is a concept of central importance. For many Buddhists, the Dharma most often means the body of teachings expounded by the Buddha,” the 22-year-old monk said.  His comments came during his first public appearance outside the Chinese mainland at the World Buddhist Forum in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China with a governing structure of its own.

“Buddha was a spiritual teacher from India on whose teachings Buddhism was founded. Since the propagation of Dharma in ancient India, many learned Buddhist masters have established monasteries and institutes in various countries for different races, promoting Buddhism like rainbows appearing all over the world,” he said.

In his speech, Panchen Lama confined his topics to religious issues without referring to the unrest occurring in some Tibetan areas and to recurring suicides by young Buddhist monks calling for the return of the Dalai Lama from exile. Over 30 people attempted self-immolations including one in New Delhi.

In the Tibetan Buddhist hierarchy, the Panchen Lama is regarded as the second most important incarnation after the Dalai Lama. Reporting his speech, China’s state-run Xinhua news agency described Panchen Lama as “one of the two most senior living Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism” without directly referring to the Dalai Lama, whom it criticizes as splitist for apparently trying to separate Tibet from China.

In this book “Arrested Histories: Tibet, the CIA, and Memories of a Forgotten War” by Carole McGranahan, Duke University Press Books (October 1, 2010), it clearly recorded the incident where Chushi Gangdrug members consulted Dorje Shugden oracle during Chinese invasion in the 50s, and in 2008, they were made to swear against Dorje Shugden!!

Proof of the bigger picture – Chinese demanded monks to worship Shugden

It has always been dorjeshugden.com’s firm stand that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is purposely creating the ban on Dorje Shugden with a bigger picture at the back of His mind, which is actually to promote Dorje Shugden, especially in the Chinese world, where a renaissance of Buddhism is expected to happen. Below’s account is a proof that the Chinese are actually promoting Dorje Shugden (despite with less-than-holy reasons) in China, just as what His Holiness has intended secretly.

We could have seen this coming. It is just a matter of time that the Chinese would come clean with this. They are doing it covertly now and perhaps later, they will be more open and forceful about this especially when the Dalai Lama is not with us anymore. The Chinese would do anything to break the independent spirt of the Tibetan people, which appears to be embodied by their belief in the Dalai Lama.

In that way, the Dalai Lama is very skillful and he foresaw what the Chinese would do for Dorje Shugden. Some would argue it was shrewdness and some would say it was clairvoyance of Chenrezig. It doesn’t matter. Through his ban alone created so much hype and promotion that no pujas or marketing team could have brought Dorje Shugden to the world in such a quick manner. That means the Dalai Lama have never forsaken his lineage and Lamas. In fact, he risked everything for it.

He knew many Shugden practitioners would have to ‘suffer’ for Dorje Shugden to grow big. Some would argue that he is not very compassionate. Real practitioners will say that he is very skillful and that he was working for a bigger picture to be realized. Whatever the viewpoint, the Dalai Lama would be remembered by the results of his actions.

Woeser, a quarter-Han and three quarters-Tibetan, was born in Lhasa. Her grandfather was an officer in the Nationalist Army of the Kuomintang and her father was a high rank Army officer in the People’s Liberation Army. When she was a small child, her family relocated to the Kham area of western Sichuan province. In 1988, she graduated from Southwest University for Nationalities in Chengdu with a degree in Chinese literature. She worked as a reporter in Kardzé and later in Lhasa and has lived in Beijing since 2003 as a result of political problems. Woeser is married to Wang Lixiong, a renowned author who frequently writes about Tibet. According to Reporters sans frontières, “Woeser is one of the few Tibetan authors and poets to write in Chinese.”

Khandro Lhamo Tseringma (Tsering Chen-nga), Nechung and Gadong, State Oracles of Tibet, during the Long Life Puja for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at the Kalachackra initiation in Bodhgaya, India, on 10 January 2012.

At 1:05, you can see Tseringma trying to invite the Karmapa and the Gaden Tripa Rizong Rinpoche to come forward to the Dalai Lama’s throne, the Karmapa was unsure, and the Gaden Tripa seemed reluctant but went anyway after some persuasion, perhaps that was not really done according to Tibetan protocol.
