On 26 January 2011, news broke that the Karmapa Urgyen Trinley’s attendants had been stopped and found to have an unusually large amount of cash in their car. Suspicions quickly fell on the Shamarpa, who is the supporter of the other Karmapa Thaye Dorje. Disappointed by the turn of events, the Shamarpa felt it necessary to respond to these allegations.
