I came to know about Dorje Shugden when I became interested in what the Dalai Lama announced and the hype of the controversy surrounding this whole issue.
My first contact with Dorje Shugden was when I Googled his name and found out more about this holy Protector. The controversial issues surrounding him had made me more interested to read about Dorje Shugden and his lineage.
My first impression of Dorje Shugden was that he seems to be gentler than other Dharma protectors. I found his appearance to be more ‘pleasant’ compared to the other more wrathful protectors that I had come across.
In spite of the initial confusion, I now understand the situation a lot better with all the information that I have happily reaped from www.dorjeshugden.com. Now that I have learnt so much more about the lineage of Dorje Shugden, I am happily (and without any doubt) doing his practice every day now.

Dear Kevin,
Rejoice in your practice in Dorje Shugden. Despite all the protest and all, Dorje Shugden is a Buddha. Glad that you have made your research and studies before going into this practice. Some of the reasons why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha and not a spirit as claimed by the Dalai Lama is:
1. The lineage lamas like Trijang Rinpoche and Pabongkha Rinpoche , recently Denma Gonsar Rinpoche, are practicing this practice and they will come back life after life to continue to teach. if it was a spirit, then the lamas will not come back and will be reborn in hell. This is not the case.
2. Dorje Shugden helped the Dalai Lama escape Tibet during the Chinese invasion. It is through the oracle that the Dalai Lama was advised to leave and what route to take to ensure his safety. The Dalai Lama also requested a Dorje Shugden Thangka from Trijang Rinpoche before he took on the journey to safe guard him and his people. However, this was not said by the Dalai Lama himself but was confirmed by the Chushi Gangdruk (the guards that protect the Dalai Lama).
3. Many monasteries which practices Dorje Shugden has flourished in India, Tibet and the West despite the ban.

Yes, indeed, in announcing the ban, the Dalai Lama inadvertently brought attention to this very practice which he is trying to silence. Thanks to the efforts of dorjeshugden.com, there is now invaluable information on Dorje Shugden. From here, more people can learn of the true nature of Dorje Shugden and faith can then arise.

An educated decision is so much better as it will help increase our faith and trust in the enlightened powerful protector Dorje Shugden.
