His Eminence Khejok Rinpoche of Sera Mey Monastery

His Eminence Khejok Rinpoche

His Eminence Khejok Rinpoche is the sixth incarnation of the renowned Khejok Lama who lived during the Fifth Dalai Lama’s time, and was also the spiritual teacher to the Ming Dynasty Emperors, like Chen Lung etc.

Rinpoche was born in 1936 in the Gyalrong district of eastern Tibet, now known as Sichuan province. His father Tsering Phuntsok was a local leader and his young mother Tashi Lhamo was renowned for her great beauty.

At the time of Rinpoche’s birth, the sun, the moon and many stars were simultaneously visible in the sky, a celestial configuration which was regarded as most auspicious, signifying the birth of an important person. The location of the house where Rinpoche was born was immediately next to Zarthu Monastery of the village. This small monastery was headed by the successive incarnations of the Khejok Tulkus.

As a young boy he was recognised as the reincarnation of the late Rinpoche, and earmarked to be the successor to the Khejok Lama lineage. After the recognition, he was given formal training at the native Dhe-Tsang Monastery and Sermey Monastic University in Tibet.
Subsequently, he was enthroned as the abbot of Dhe-Tsang Monastery, the second oldest monastery of the Gelugpa lineage and the spiritual headquarters of all Gelugpa monasteries in Eastern Tibet.

At the age of 17, His Eminence entered the prestigious Sera Monastic University in Lhasa, one of the three largest monastic universities in the world. Later, he graduated as a Geshe (a title of scholarship equivalent to a Doctorate degree).

After graduation, Rinpoche served the monastery as a resident elder, being widely respected by both the ordained and lay assemblies of Tibetans for his wisdom, compassion and practical advice.
His Eminence is also known for his vast knowledge on statue-making, astrology divination and has been certified as a practitioner of traditional Tibetan Medicine by the Tibetan Government.

Since 1986, Rinpoche has been teaching in Australia to Western students and has established over 12 Buddhist education centres bearing the common name of Institute of Buddhist Learning & Practice (IBLP), in Australia, Canada and Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong). There are also two centres of healing natural medicines. His Eminence now makes annual teaching tours to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Canada and around Australia.

Over the centuries, the lineage of the Khejok Tulkus was influential in eastern Tibet and the Chinese imperial courts. The lineage of Tulkus who came after the 1st Khejok Rinpoche have all been great masters, held in high esteem by local Tibetan kings and Chinese emperors alike.

  1. His Eminence Khejok Rinpoche is indeed a very great lama and very great practitoner of Dorje Shugden. He has never renounced Dorje Shugden nor went back to Sera Mey to swear against the practice.

He continues to practice Dorje Shugden in private without alot of fanfare. He is currently in pilgrimage in Nepal as I type this.

May his works spread further, sponsors grow, students grow and live very long.

    TK

  2. TK check your facts before you spread such nonesense about Rinpoche.
With many other teachers Rinpoche has stopped this worship since more than ten year past.

  3. As Rinpohe has long stopped this it would be a civilized behavior if this website can take off this page on Rinpoche and his photos. Play it fair.
    Thanks!

  4. Khejok Rinpoche has not stopped Dorje Shugden practice. That is 100% for sure.
He has to do it very secretly and away from public eye. If he doesn’t, his students who are fickle in faith and not very learned will leave him. Out of compassion he keeps it secret for them.
I received very clear direct news from his attendant HE HAS NOT GIVEN UP HIS PRACTICE OF SHUGDEN.

  5. I practice Dorje Shugden and for sure Rinpoche did not stop. I know for sure. I am proud Rinpoche does not bow down to political pressures. If he did, I would lose confidence. It is great this website tells the truth.

  6. Hi Everyone

H E Rinpoche quit this practice since HE Rinpoche had private audience at Varanasi in Jan, 2006. He als attendent the taking oath at Sera about practicing the diety. HE Rinpoche is not praticing this diety anymore. If any doubt pls come and visit our temple.

  7. Check your facts my friend.
This is public knowledge that Khejok Rinpoche took the vow in Sermey in 2008 to abandon the practice. Check with Sermey, check with Dharamsala…do the checking please man!

  8. Make it simple, Khejok Rinpoche Gurus practiced Dorje Shugden. Most of the monks practiced Dorje Shugden in Sera Mey. Khejok Rinpoche close friends like Tri Yongzin Rinpoche practiced Dorje Shugden. Khejok Rinpoche himself practiced most of his life. Khejok Rinpoche does not attend any teachings by Dalai Lama these days. Khejok Rinpoche is in contact with Dorje Shugden lamas like Gangchen Rinpoche. Khejok Rinpoche’s close assistants that are Tibetan have other Tibetan monk freinds who practice. And the assistants said clearly that Khejok Rinpoche is a stable, firm and serious lama who does not give up on the commitments his lamas gave him and does not bow to unfair illogical political pressures. Khejok Rinpoche is definitely practicing. His new and foreign students does not know, but his Tibetan students know. The facts have been checked out and 100% Khejok Rinpoche did not give up his faith in Dorje Shugden!! Good for Khejok Rinpoche. He will have to tell the world he gave up but it is a fact he does this to avoid the glare of Dalai Lama. Like hundreds of others Lamas. What else is new? You can say all that you want, but it is for sure he practices. It shows Khejok Rinpoche has substance and is stable.

  9. It is for sure Khejok Rinpoche secretly and quietly practices Dorje Shugden. I talked to his attendent and is good friends with their Tibetan friends. They quietly say Khejok Rinpoche has not given up on Dorje Shugden but cannot publicly admit. If Khejok Rinpoche gave up on Shugden, it would mean he openly is saying his gurus like Sera Mey Gyalrong Kensur and Trijang Rinpoche are wrong. Do you think Khejok Rinpoche would honestly think that about his gurus. That is tantamount to giving up all his practices from his teachers. If he gave up Shugden from his teachers, then he might as well give up his Cittamani, Cakrasamvara, Yamantaka, Manjushri Vajrayogini,Guhyasamaja, Medicine Buddha practices. If his guru is wrong, then he received his practices from a bad guru so what is the point of continuing practices he received from a wrong guru? Doesn’t make sense. He has great devotion toward his gurus. He speaks highly of his gurus when he refers to them during teachings. How can Trijang Rinpoche be wrong. Did Khejok Rinpoche ever say Trijang Rinpoche is wrong? Never. If one of your gurus can be wrong then all your gurus can be wrong. So if Trijang Rinpoche can be wrong, so can the Dalai Lama. Trijang Rinpoche’s attainments is equal to Dalai Lama’s. Just because Dalai Lama says Shugden is bad, do you think Khejok Rinpoche will just abandon his gurus and his practices he received from them? If he did, then he is a politically motivated lama. But he is not. He is practicing Dorje Shugden and quietly. You don’t have to see the fire to know there’s a fire. Just look at the smoke.

  10. Hey I posted a message in reply based in logic and did not break any forum rules. Why was my message deleted? Play it fair man!

  11. Hey I posted a message in reply based in logic and did not break any forum rules. Why was my message deleted? Come on. Be fair man!

  12. “Be fair man!” What is that language? And this is not a forum! You support Khejok Rinpoche?? And write like that?

You are not doing anyone a favor by being here. No one has to accommodate anyone. This is a free private space. So I don’t think you should demand. I would assume MODERATION means it is up to the website to publish what you wrote or not. It is up to them.

  13. Post a picture of Khejok together with Dalai Lama.

  14. Tibetan monks know Kejok Tuku of SeraMey do Shugden. He good friiends with Gangchen Tuku of SeraMey also. This one we only keep for us and not talk, but Shugden persons all know Kejok Tuku doing Shugden but only not speaking to all. Kejok Tuku just keep quiet and not say he love Shugden.

  15. Gelek said “Tibetan monks know Kejok Tuku of SeraMey do Shugden…Shugden persons all know Kejok Tuku doing Shugden”

You are really confusing me here. According to you, the Shugden monks know Rinpoche practices Shugden. Then why do the shugden people posted the following on a Shugden website?

    http://www.shugdensociety.info/historyEvents2008EN.html
    February 13, 2008

Kenchok Rinpoche from Australia and some Chinese offered a long life puja to an ex-abbot, Ngawang, in the assembly hall of Sera-May monastery. Kenchok asked Shugden monks not to attend the long life puja, despite the fact that they have a Guru disciple relationship.

He is either pro-shugden or have given it up. You guys kept saying he is doing it but on the other hand the other Shugden websites are criticising him as a suppresor? Come on. You gotta make up your mind and play it fair.

And by the way, he did NOT ask monks not to attend the long life puja as the above link claimed either. In fact he had rather little to do with the puja.

As far as I know, Rinpoche has been a friend of Gangchen Rinpoche since their youth. I have no knowledge of the current status but I would assume their friendship still holds. He also has Muslim and Christian friends too(I am serious). So what is your point?

  16. The Tibetan Govt and Dalai Lama made it clear. Once you have sworn in your monastery against your practice of Dorje Shugden you are not allowed to associate for secular or spiritual reasons those who are still practicing Dorje Shugden. If you are still associating with them, you are showing two faces. You are not sincere. Even if your guru is still practicing Dorje Shugden, you may not associate with your guru again. If you can’t associate with your guru, you cannot associate with friends also. Gangchen Rinpoche is an open and very famous practitioner of Dorje Shugden. The Tibetan govt has him on their offical website as one of the ‘enemies’ of Tibet. So if you are his friend and still seen with him, it means only one thing to them.

Contemplate This

.…Instead of turning away people who practise Dorje Shugden, we should be kind to them. Give them logic and wisdom without fear, then in time they give up the ‘wrong’ practice. Actually Shugden practitioners are not doing anything wrong. But hypothetically, if they are, wouldn’t it be more Buddhistic to be accepting? So those who have views against Dorje Shugden should contemplate this. Those practicing Dorje Shugden should forbear with extreme patience, fortitude and keep your commitments. The time will come as predicted that Dorje Shugden’s practice and it’s terrific quick benefits will be embraced by the world and it will be a practice of many beings.
