On 17th May 2017, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA; Tibetan leadership based in Dharamsala, North India), the exile government of the 14th Dalai Lama, released a video with the title ‘Ten Facts About the Missing Panchen Lama’. It was on the occasion of the “22nd anniversary of the enforced disappearance of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima”, the boy that the Dalai Lama had declared to be the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama.

The Department of Information and International Relations (meaning the CTA’s propaganda department) had enlisted the help of a member of the Indian Parliament, Dr Abishek Singhvi to declare the alleged 1995 abduction of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima by the Chinese government as, amongst other things, a “major invasion of the fundamental, spiritual and religious rights of the Tibetan people”. The said video also ascribed a number of adjectives to the Chinese government – harsh, cruel, dictatorial, unrepentant, and unrelenting; it accused the Chinese government of having applied “brute force” in appointing a puppet 11th Panchen Lama who, Dr Abishek declared, will be met with repulsion and rejection.
The elasticity of truth
The 2017 video was then the latest in an ongoing series of CTA-sponsored agitprop with two specific and conjoined purposes — (i) to continue to conjure up whatever controversies were possible such as the Panchen Lama issue in order to undermine the credibility and reputation of China; and (ii) to keep existing fault lines such as the Panchen Lama controversy created in 1995, from repairing.
In its confrontation with China, smear campaigns and the promotion of highly inflammatory issues that could incite social unrest within China were the Dalai Lama and Central Tibetan Administration’s (CTA) weapons of choice, which they wielded with incredible skill. The Dalai Lama, an astute politician who has wielded unfettered power for far longer than any government or dictator in history, knew well what the Chinese feared most, which is expressed in an old Mao dictum – “a single spark can start a prairie fire”. Therefore, creating sparks became an art form of the Tibetan government in exile.
But there are other aspects to the Dalai Lama’s range of armaments in the Tibetan people’s conflict with China — an uncanny ability to find and use knowing and unknowing proxies such as Dr Abishek to broaden the frontage of attack on China, and knowing when to take up and when to let down such allies which were often used as mere collateral.
And so, one year later, on 25th April 2018, the Dalai Lama made a complete mockery out of not only Dr Abishek Singhvi, the Indian Member of Parliament, but also the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) chaired by Richard Gere, the United Nations, a list of US-based lobbyists and politicians, and even the CTA itself; indeed, everyone who since 1995 had been led by the Dalai Lama to believe that Gyaincain Norbu, whom the Chinese government had recognized and enthroned as the 11th Panchen Lama, to be a fake and merely a political puppet.

In speaking to members of the media on his arrival at Gaggal Airport in Dharamsala, the Dalai Lama said that in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, it is not unusual for enlightened beings to have as many as five reincarnations, citing the example of a famous Tibetan Buddhist personage. Taken in context, what the Dalai Lama meant was that both the Chinese-enthroned 11th Panchen Lama (Gyaincain Norbu) and his 1995 candidate, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima are equally rightful heirs to the throne of the Panchen Lama and, in fact, the Dalai Lama acknowledges the Chinese Panchen Lama to be the official 11th Panchen Lama. In essence, what the Dalai Lama said is tantamount to an endorsement of the Chinese-enthroned 11th Panchen Lama Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu (Panchen Gyaincain Norbu) and a recognition of his legitimacy as the highest-ranking Tibetan Buddhist lama in Tibet, in the Dalai Lama’s absence.
The mystery is how a ‘fake’ could have morphed into an authentic 11th Panchen Lama, worthy of the Dalai Lama’s approval and commendation. Clearly, the candidate the Chinese government chose and enthroned has not changed and neither has the Chinese government, the Dalai Lama or the enmity between them. But those who are more familiar with Tibetan Buddhist history would know that this is not the only time the Dalai Lama has made a sudden about-turn on issues which logically cannot alter in its substance in such a casual way. The Dorje Shugden controversy is another whereby the Dalai Lama had personally worshipped this Tibetan Buddhist deity for close to 40 years, even composing one of the most popular praises to him, before suddenly declaring the same deity, Dorje Shugden, to be a malignant force to be shunned.
Effectively, the Dalai Lama was admitting that he had erred on the Panchen Lama issue, a controversy that he had fanned for over 20 years. In 1995, the Dalai Lama had insisted that he could not accept Gyaincain Norbu as having any possibility of being the right Panchen Lama. This was because the Dalai Lama had “conducted all the necessary religious procedures with great care” before naming his own candidate as the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama and that the Dalai Lama’s recognition could not be wrong and “cannot be changed”. His recent remarks however concede that the Chinese government has chosen the correct reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama and the methods the Chinese government employ in the recognition process of high tulkus is in fact proper. The Chinese government definitely consulted very high lamas who are in Tibet to use their ancient methods, to recognize the 11th Panchen Lama.
Ironically, the Dalai Lama has himself said on a number of occasions that the tulkus of high lamas guide their own reincarnations and there is no way for any man or force to manipulate or hijack the reincarnation of a highly realized being. That is to say, if the 10th Panchen Lama wanted to take rebirth in a situation whereby he is recognized by the Chinese leadership, then that is exactly what he did. The Dalai Lama also cited the historical example of Khyentse Wangpo of the Sakya tradition as proof that high lamas can take up to five reincarnations – Body incarnation, Speech incarnation, Mind incarnation, Activity incarnation and Qualities incarnation. In fact, the 10th Panchen Lama himself was one of two qualified incarnations, the other being Panchen Otrul Rinpoche who continues to turn the wheel of Dharma in Europe, America and the Far East. This is no secret and the Dalai Lama is fully aware of all this.
So, it cannot be new information that suddenly changed the Dalai Lama’s mind about the Chinese Panchen Lama. But that narrative would not have suited the Dalai Lama’s intended agenda at the time nor would it have been useful to the Tibetan cause for the past 20 years. But it suits the Dalai Lama’s scheme now. And so, we see in this situation a very powerful weapon the Dalai Lama exerts — the ability to bend facts and reality without being questioned. And as the Dalai Lama demonstrates on this occasion, in a mere two minutes, he has created a seismic shift in the Tibetan people’s engagement with China, one that will seal their fate forever.
Whether intended or not, the Dalai Lama has also effectively given his seal of approval to China’s claim as to its capability and sovereign right to be involved in spiritual matters. He has cleared the way of old obstacles for China to get a firm handle on Tibetan Buddhism as an instrument of control, the same power the Dalai Lama has himself wielded for over 60 years with unprecedented deftness.
In the very same interview at Gaggal Airport on 25th April 2018, the Dalai Lama also reported that Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, whom the Dalai Lama had claimed was kidnapped and has been held prisoner by the Chinese government since 1995, was in fact doing well and is receiving a good education. Since 1995, the Dalai Lama and his supporters have roused the world’s ire against China for allegedly abducting and illegally detaining Gedhun Choekyi Nyima as the world’s youngest political prisoner, and this case has been regularly cited as being a prime example of China’s abuse of human rights. But now, the Dalai Lama’s statement seems to indicate that, far from being abused and denied his human rights, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima has been treated well and even provided with a good education.
This statement is incongruous with the portrayal of the Chinese government by the Tibetan leadership over the decades, i.e. that of an oppressive and brutal regime that ruthlessly disposes of its enemies and those it sees as a threat. However, this incongruity does expose a characteristic of the same Tibetan leadership, that which treats facts and realities as putty to be shaped and moulded to fit shifting agendas.
The characteristic flip-flop of the Dalai Lama
Whilst the latest statement by the Dalai Lama on the Panchen Lama issue seems off-the-cuff, it should be disturbing that the Dalai Lama can be so flippant over something of this magnitude. The reincarnation of such a key figure in the Gelug lineage goes to the heart of Tibetan Buddhism and should never be taken lightly. And yet, this glibness offers a tremendously valuable opportunity to examine the character of the Dalai Lama and Tibetan leadership by exploring possible reasons for the Dalai Lama’s very sudden change of tune regarding a highly-charged issue.
1. The Dalai Lama was genuinely mistaken
The power and prestige of the Dalai Lama comes from his image (be it real or carefully manicured) as a simple Buddhist monk who is the embodiment of all that is good in the world, and who also happens to be a Buddha, and therefore can do no wrong due to his spiritual invincibility. On this premise alone, millions heralded the Dalai Lama’s views and became blind propagators of his ideologies and agendas. The Dalai Lama’s narrative and, by extension that of the CTA, were embraced by fans all over the world and upheld as dogma.
The Dalai Lama’s change of tune now regarding the ‘Chinese Panchen Lama’ sits very uncomfortably with the presumption of his spiritual invincibility but this is not immediately obvious to those who have been trained to merely follow instead of think and rationalize for themselves. If one were to apply logical thought to the issue, then either the Dalai Lama was wrong in 1995 to have proclaimed the Chinese Panchen Lama to be counterfeit, or he is wrong now to declare the Chinese Panchen Lama to be authentic and worthy to be regarded as the “official Panchen Lama” (in the Dalai Lama’s own words).
The Dalai Lama cannot be right on both contradictory counts but is it a question of his spiritual competence or a question of his integrity? From the perspective of spiritual examination, the Dalai Lama is said to be none other than the Buddha of Compassion, the great and all-knowing Avalokiteshvara or Chenresig. The Panchen Lama in turn is the Buddha Amitabha. Both are Buddhas and if this is true, how can one Buddha (Dalai Lama) be mistaken in recognizing another Buddha (Amitabha) when both are supposed to be of the same awakened essence? To suggest so would be to assail the very foundations of Buddhism. In short, it can only be a question of human integrity and not a question of spiritual efficacy.
Either the entire corpus of Buddhism is formulated on false assumptions or the Dalai Lama is a mere human being and subject to faults, mistakes and vices. Either way, it should be clear now that it would be a grievous error to blindly follow a leader on the presumption of soundness and trustworthiness in everything he does and proclaims. And if there is a case to be made for the human fallibility of the Dalai Lama, then one should also call into question the Dalai Lama’s endorsement of Ogyen Trinley Dorje as the 17th Karmapa; he was one of three claimants but the Dalai Lama proclaimed him to be the only correct and rightful throne holder of the Karma Kagyu lineage. It would also mean that the Dalai Lama very likely erred when he declared the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden to be a demonic force after he himself worshipped the deity for close to 40 years.
History will judge how the Dalai Lama, the supposed personification of compassion, could have allowed so many innocent and unknowing people to attack and denounce the Panchen Lama, the living Amitabha Buddha; the Karmapa, the living Bodhisattva Chenresig Simhanada; and Dorje Shugden, an enlightened being with a lineage that is over 300 years old, at a karmic cost that would be frightening if it could be calculated.
2. Political expediency overrides spiritual truth
It is common knowledge that the Dalai Lama and the CTA have increasingly been given the cold shoulder by world leaders as the Tibetan issue becomes a dangerous liability and burden. India is the latest to keep the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan exile government at arm’s length, after almost 60 years of unprecedented support for the Tibetan cause. It was only with the blessings of the Indian government that the Tibetan leadership was able to form and function as a government without a country and without any accountability whatsoever. No other ‘government’ in the world enjoys such a privilege and with India’s permission, the Dalai Lama and the CTA have been emboldened to traverse the world and spread enmity against China.
In the meantime, countless NGOs and charitable organizations have sprouted globally, all collecting funds in the name of the Tibetan struggle. On top of this is funding from the United States of America which came as aid for the Democratic David in his struggle with a Communist Goliath. Little is known of how much or how little of these funds actually reach the poor Tibetan refugees but clearly, the CTA very quickly realized that it is very lucrative to be a thorn in China’s side, and that being in exile offers financial rewards they could not have received as a legitimate government. All they really had to do was remind the world of China’s oppression and Tibet’s ‘victimization’ by a vicious Chinese monster.
But now, with India changing its stance on China and preferring to formulate a new friendship with her mighty neighbor, the Dalai Lama and CTA may soon find themselves without their main sponsor. Left with little choice, the Dalai Lama now feels the need to appease China instead of irking her as he and the CTA have done for the past 60 years, all the while blaming the failure of the Tibetan people to return home on China’s refusal to come to the negotiating table.
The Dalai Lama’s endorsement of the Chinese Panchen Lama comes only days before an all-important closed door meeting between India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and China’s President Xi Jinping. It is expected that the Tibetan issue is on the agenda along with other border issues affecting Sino-Indian relationships.
In this context, the Dalai Lama’s change of tune is consistent with his other dramatic shifts including open declarations that “Tibet can remain in China”; that Tibet needs more development, which itself is a clear acknowledgment that the Chinese government have created benefits for the Tibetan people; and expressing his wish to return to Tibet as an individual as opposed to being a key person in the Tibetan people’s political struggle against China. In proclaiming that highly realized beings like the 10th Panchen Lama could have taken more than one reincarnation, the Dalai Lama provides an avenue that legitimizes the Chinese Panchen Lama and, in effect, signals an end to Tibetan aggression towards China and perhaps the beginning of a new era of engagement. In this way, the Dalai Lama shows himself to be an astute politician to give away as a bargain, something that would soon be lost to him anyway.
In any case, this new approach of appeasing China seems to be the Dalai Lama’s chosen method at this time to solve the Sino-Tibetan conflict and to pave the way for himself and the Tibetan people to finally return to their homeland. This is the wish the Dalai Lama has harbored for 60 years and which has become more pronounced recently.
However, the Dalai Lama’s conciliatory overtures alone will not work, if it does not translate into official CTA policy. This will not be an easy sell as the likes of Sikyong Lobsang Sangay and Dhardon Sharling will have to face recalcitrant Rangzen warriors and those intoxicated with fumes of hatred for China, fed to them over decades, ironically, by the Tibetan leadership themselves.
No one can predict how well the Tibetan people will take to what is clearly the Dalai Lama’s new strategy. But it is clear that those who refuse to toe the Dalai Lama’s new line with regards to the Chinese Panchen Lama and all that the Panchen Lama stands for, are in fact working against the Dalai Lama and the weakening Tibetan cause. It remains to be seen whether the Tibetan cause will be finally lost because of the external enemies of the Tibetan people or the internal enemies who have sought to derail the Tibetan struggle through a myriad of distractions such as the Dorje Shugden conflict.
Significance of the Dalai Lama’s new proclamation
The Panchen Lama issue is one that has significant spiritual bearing. The Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama are regarded as the Sun and the Moon in the Tibetan Buddhist cosmos. In the absence of the Dalai Lama, the Panchen Lama becomes the highest authority in Tibet, as both a political and spiritual leader. In addition, the Dalai Lamas and Panchen Lamas have interchangeable roles as teachers and students, and are instrumental in finding and recognizing each other’s reincarnations. The office of the Panchen Lama is therefore a highly significant role that the CTA would be highly vested in keeping within their control. It is in fact the gateway to controlling the reincarnation of the 15th Dalai Lama and all future Dalai Lamas and Panchen Lamas.
If the Dalai Lama’s endorsement of the Chinese Panchen Lama is a politically motivated move, then we see clearly that the politician in the Dalai Lama triumphs over his role as a spiritual guardian – the integrity of the so-called Tibetan cause, and the future of the Tibetan nation can be offered up as a sacrifice on the political altar of the Chinese government, so long as the Dalai Lama’s personal wishes are met. If there is any credence in this view, then there should equally be credence in the suggestion that both the Karmapa controversy and Dorje Shugden issue are politically charged contagions introduced into the Tibetan community by the Tibetan leadership, to divide and conquer.
For over 20 years, the Karmapa and Dorje Shugden controversies created intractable schisms within Tibetan communities worldwide. Add into this mix, the Rangzen (total independence) versus Umaylam (meaningful autonomy) debate and pre-existing regional rivalries, and very quickly one sees why the Tibetan freedom movement never really gained traction. These divisive issues were all creations of the Dalai Lama. And now that the Dalai Lama has done a volte-face on the topic of the Chinese Panchen Lama, is it possible that he might one day do the same for the Dorje Shugden ban, as well as his endorsement of the Karmapa Ogyen Trinley? It remains a highly plausible scenario given recent events.
To be very sure, the Tibetan leadership has taken every opportunity in the last six decades to insult China and accuse her of all manner of crimes against humanity. It is left to the imagination what might have happened if the Dalai Lama had used his CTA to bolster the unity of the Tibetan people and instituted conciliatory moves towards China as a matter of policy instead of a desperate and nervous reaction.
Checkmate on the Tibetan struggle
Whether the Tibetan people realize it or not, the Dalai Lama’s endorsement of the Chinese Panchen Lama is the tolling of the bells signaling the death of the integrity of the Tibetan leadership and with that, the Tibetan fight for freedom. The Dalai Lama cannot claim to be a victim of China’s vicious oppression, forced to seek asylum and at the same time openly express his willingness to return to Tibet and come under the sovereignty of this so-called oppressor.
Neither can the Dalai Lama claim that China is committing cultural genocide on the Tibetan people but Tibet should remain in China anyway because of the benefits and development it receives under the Chinese government.
Neither can the Dalai Lama or any Tibetan now argue that China has no right to recognize the next and 15th Dalai Lama when he has openly affirmed the authority of the Panchen Lama who is empowered by tradition and now consent, to do precisely that on behalf of China. Now, not only is China in possession of the Golden Urn, traditionally used in the confirmation of high incarnate lamas, but China also has the 11th Panchen Lama. And as we have already seen, it is the Panchen Lamas who recognize and enthrone the reincarnations of the Dalai Lamas.
Neither can the Dalai Lama say that the Chinese Panchen Lama is a rightful incarnation of the holy 10th Panchen Lama and is an emanation of Buddha Amitabha, but that the same Buddha is also a demon worshipper, because the 11th Panchen Lama is known to be a practitioner of Dorje Shugden.
Finally, neither can the Dalai Lama deny that all his statements are inconsistent with one another and are taken to new heights of absurdity when framed within the ongoing policies and activities of the CTA. The Dalai Lama’s latest stance on the Chinese Panchen lama signals his decision to ‘work with China’ and to cease heaping vitriol upon her via issues such as commenting on China’s human rights record and also the Dorje Shugden controversy which the CTA have falsely claimed to be a ploy by the Chinese government to undermine the Dalai Lama’s reign and destabilize the Tibetan community. This about-turn by the Dalai Lama may be disturbing to those who have held on to his every word as sacred, but it may be the only avenue left for the Tibetans to achieve their fast fading hopes of returning home.

When compared to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) in Dharamsala that does not take any responsibility for their people like any proper government normally would, China is radically different and liberal for allowing sex abuse victims to express themselves on social media, despite its heavy censorship of the Internet.
For people like Luo Xixi, whose online postings on sex abuse has garnered millions of views on Chinese social media, said that the government is gradually opening up to the #MeToo movement, a hashtag catch-phrase movement that encourages and empowers sex abuse victims to stand up against sex abuse. In China, those who are convicted of sexual abuse are severely dealt with by the law and laid off from work. The Central Tibetan Administration should take heed of how such cases are dealt with in China and not allow sex abuse perpetrators, especially Tibetan lamas to continue committing their crimes unchecked and without consequence.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s speeches create headlines nowadays not because they bring wisdom and enlightening thoughts, but rather unpleasant feelings and disapprovals. From the sexist quip in 2015, his gaffe on Nehru, and his recent comment about Europe that caused him to be labelled as White Supremacist, there is now one more to add onto the list. In order to be congenial and consistent with the image of a Nobel Peace Laureate, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been issuing statements, especially about Islam, such as redefining Jihad as an interior struggle.
More and more people are expressing their doubt, with some even directly pointing out the mistakes in the Dalai Lama’s speech. This pattern of speech of strong statements that ends up in denial or apology seems consistent with his advice concerning the practice of Dorje Shugden. With the reasons behind the ban shifted so much over time, perhaps there really was never any validity behind the ban at all.

Transcript: Dalai Lama is a Racist Nazi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_J_we4rp34
Dalai Lama is a piece of shit and a disgusting scumbag. It is, it is insane this cunt comes to Europe and tells us that we should not accept more refugees. Is he fucking retarded? It is amazing, like you don’t expect from people like, like those to be Nazis and to support all the right. It’s just insane a spiritual leader is a fucking Nazi dude. Europe needs more refugees, way more than we already have. Do you understand? And this degenerate says that we should send refugees back to where they came from and that we should help the countries of the refugees. His suggestions are, it’s obvious, like obviously we should help the countries of the, of the refugees, of their origin, but we should not send anyone back. We need more refugees in Europe and we should not deport anyone. We should give money to the refugees so they can stay in Europe and live here. What this Dalai Lama is suggesting is very inhumane, that’s all what I wanted to say. Hopefully in future we will get more migrants in Europe. Hopefully we can help more people. Let’s hope, let’s hope for the better.

Finally His Holiness the Dalai Lama recognizes the China Panchen Lama is also a real emanation from the 10th Panchen Lama. It is extremely good news because the 10th Panchen Lama is a huge Dorje Shugden Lama and he practices Dorje Shugden until he passes away. If he is able to reincarnate back and be recognized by His Holiness, it means that CTA’s accusation of saying Dorje Shugden is a demon practice and it will lead us to the 3 lower realms will be invalid.
The 11th Panchen Lama is incredible with his studies of the scriptures and rituals. Even at the young age, he is able to master various rituals and have a high standard of debate ability. This will not be possible for an imposter Panchen Lama.
His Holiness is saying this also to get into China’s good book. He has been trying to go back to China now and he voiced it out clearly on several interviews. By recognizing China backed Panchen Lama, China will be happy and perhaps will consider His Holiness’s wishes to return to Tibet.

The issue of Indian resentment towards the Tibetan refugees living on Indian soil is nothing new. The Tibetans have built comfortable lives for themselves in India and enjoy many privileges including exemption from paying tax. All of this is done without Tibetans showing genuine concern for the less fortunate in their host country.
The story below, which took place over 24 years ago, is a reflection of how fragile the Tibetan situation is in India. When a Tibetan murdered an Indian following a dispute, chaos ensued, and the Dalai Lama had to consider moving out of Dharamsala. Tensions between the Indian and Tibetan community have not normalised and remain high in the area even until today.

A plot to murder the Dalai Lama by a Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist named Kausar was recently uncovered. Kausar planned to cause the Dalai Lama’s demise and blow up Buddhist temples in the Indian State of Karnataka as revenge for the attacks on Rohingya Muslims by some Buddhists in Myanmar.
Although Kausar’s plans are appalling and cannot be justified, it is a reminder that the Dalai Lama as a well-known Buddhist personality has a moral obligation to discourage religious persecution in any form. This even includes the discrimination experienced by Dorje Shugden practitioners.

The fact that rangzen activists aim for the goal of Tibetan independence is at odds with the Dalai Lama’s goal for Tibet’s autonomy. This is nothing new but it is an undeniable fact that the Dalai Lama is the most recognisable Tibetan face and representative for the Tibetan Cause. However, for years now there has been a deficit of trust between China and the Dalai Lama, which leaves the future of Tibetan refugees in limbo.
Recently, the Dalai Lama tried to take conciliatory steps towards China by acknowledging that development in the Tibet Autonomous Region is beneficial and expressed his desire to return to China. He even said he wants to go on pilgrimage to Mount Wutai, China’s most famous Buddhist site. The fact that the Rangzen people are still protesting against China however shows their true colour. They are against the Dalai Lama and want to make sure that his efforts to help Tibetans are unsuccessful.

Sex Predator in a Monk’s Robes?
In USA, Shambhala’s head Sakyong Mipham with his huge ceremonial hat, blue and gold brocades on a high throne. So much pomp and ceremony and underneath it all was a monster… a sexual predator in religious robes exploiting women and people. Such a disgusting shame. Sakyong should be barred from any activities in the future and go for counselling. He needs it badly. His father was Chogyam Trungpa who did the same thing to women and included drugs and orgies in the 70′s. Dalai Lama supports Sakyong Mipham as sizeable donations were given to the Dalai Lama’s office. Shame. We all thought Dalai Lama was clairvoyant and can see the hearts of sentient beings? Sakyong Mipham wears monk robes, shaves his head but has a wife and kids. Why keep wearing monk robes? He is wearing monk robes to look authentic as he is not authentic. Easier to swindle and fool people. Ontop of wearing robes, shaved head masquerading as a monk, has a wife and kids, he further attacks other women sexually. What kind of spiritual leader is this? Disgusting.

China and India are becoming closer and in a recent meeting have agreed on some points. One of these points is that the Dalai Lama will not be allowed to carry out any more political activities against China on Indian soil. Being a spiritual leader, why is he so political anyway? The Indian leaders are slowly silencing the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans in India. The Dalai Lama and his Tibetan government in-exile regime had better make friends with China already. They should either go back to Tibet/China or become Indian citizens and remain silent.

India and China now pushing ahead with resolution of their border disputes. It looks like India is finally ready to officially drop the Tibet card.
Excerpt:
“India and China will have “early harvest” talks on their vexed border dispute as many agreements have been reached by both sides since their top leaders met in Wuhan, Beijing said on Monday”.
Sino-Indian ‘early harvest’ spells scorched earth for Tibetan dreams.
Too bad for Tibetans in India. Too bad for Tibetan leadership. Their karma coming back soon for all the harms they have done.

Dear Lobsang Sangye and Tibetan Govt in exile in Dharamsala,
How come after 60 years you are still not at the G20 meetings? How come you cannot get your country back? How come the world economies and power are shifting towards the East which is China? How come you cannot get Tibetan autonomy, or freedom or any leeway with China? How come your negotiations with China is a failure and you produced nothing?
You run around begging for FREE MONEY from Europe, Australia, Japan, Canada, Taiwan and US for 60 years now but no one in your refugee community has made it big or successful? Where did all the money go? In your pockets? How come all your Tibetans from India/Nepal are going back to Tibet or leaving to the west. How come your schools in India are empty? How come Dharamsala is emptying out?
How come you are getting weaker and more world governments are ignoring you? How come more are paying attention to China? Less governments are willing to pay attention to you and the Tibet cause? Where is all your rangzen groups? How come they are not effective? Maybe they are disillusioned with your corruption, lies and underhanded tactics and human rights abuses using religion to divide your own people?
What happened to you? Why are you and your community your Tibetan ‘parliament’ such losers and failures? How come you cannot achieve anything?
Are you going to continue to beg for more FREE MONEY to fund your trips, houses, children’s education, vacations, five star hotels, nice brocade chubas, expensive accessories, and properties. You know the ordinary Tibetan in India has gotten nothing in financial help of the hundreds of millions in aid for that last 60 years you Tibetan exiled government pocketed. Is that why your Tibetan people in India and Nepal are all leaving to back to Tibet and the west? You failed?
Your policies and work are not effective.
Too bad.

TIBETANS SHOULD NOT HAVE MONKS AS LEADERS, THAT IS A BIG MISTAKE
Note what Namdol Lhagyari said is progressive and unlike the usual Tibetan rhetoric:
“The problem I see right now is how reliant we are on one individual,” Namdol Lhagyari, 32, the youngest member of Tibet’s exile parliament, said. “I understand that every freedom movement requires one role model, one leader, who would push everyone in the right direction, bring everyone to one goal. But he has reached an age where we will have to prepare ourselves for a post-Dalai Lama.”

These are important points to remember:
1. Tibetan lamas and monks SHOULD not enter politics. They should not hold positions of power, leadership and political roles. It will demean the Dharma. They are not trained, nor qualified nor have the credentials to be in government. They also do much damage to religion as people start to respect them less. The lines between respecting them as spiritual beings (sangha) and speaking against them when they are in government and make wrong decisions become blurred.
2. Monks and nuns should not get involved with the running of the country but should stick to education. Giving good education to the public about ethics, morality and in some cases Buddhism. No one wants to see a political monk or nun. Because it contradicts the very reason they renounced the worldly life in order to enter a life of contemplation, learning, meditation and gaining enlightenment.
3. Look at other countries where Buddhism is strong where sangha is sangha and never get involved with government or being public officials. In Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Sri Lanka etc where there are tens of thousands of sangha, you don’t see them in the government at all. Local or national governments both do not have sangha. Even in Christian countries you don’t see priests in government. That is Tibet’s big mistake to place monks/high lamas in so many government positions and as public officials. Very dangerous for the country as it has proven with Tibet and Tibetans.
4. Monks, nuns and high lamas should do dharma practice, produce books, videos, give teachings, guide the public, do funerals, blessings, be a nurturer, study dharma, build real temples, keep existing temples spiritual, animal shelters, environmentalists, be mediators, help with orphanages, shelters, the poor, half way houses, poor houses, and basically all sorts of charities that benefit the mind and body of sentient beings that is NOT GOVERNMENT BASED. If sangha gives good education, they can produce kind and good leaders to run the country.
Tibetans should never never never allow Sangha (monks, nuns and spiritual personages) to be involved with government, politics and rule of law because it ends up in disaster. That is how Tibet lost it’s country and will never get it back. There are too many monks in the Tibetan Parliament and as leaders remember Samdhong Rinpoche as the prime minister of exiles. That was very bad. The King of Tibet currently is a monk. How does that look? Very political.
Tibet made that huge mistake and Tibet will never recover from it.

Differences between Dalai Lama and CTA president put Tibetan politics in a tailspin
By Rajeev Sharma, November 27, 2018 SouthasianMonitor.com
Tibetan politics is in a tailspin as there are signs of serious differences between the 14th Dalai Lama, unquestionably the supreme and undisputed leader of the Tibetans, and Lobsang Sangay, president of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
The immediate provocation is the unceremonious cancellation of the 13th Religious Conference of the Schools of Tibetan Buddhism and Bon Tradition, which was scheduled between November 29 and December 1 year in Dharamshala. Insiders have revealed that the conference was cancelled by Lobsang without consulting the Dalai Lama.
Even more intriguing is the timing of the move. Knowledgeable sources in the Tibetan establishment in India disclosed that Lobsang made the move while the Dalai Lama was travelling back from Japan, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to do anything to stop it.
Tibetan politics is turning out to be a cloak-and-dagger mystery. According to sources, Lobsang waited until the Dalai Lama was on his way to the airport before ordering the Department of Religion and Culture to cancel the event. Interestingly, the cancellation of the conference is available by way of an announcement in English on the CTA website.
The CTA’s Department of Religion and Culture announced that owing to the sudden demise of the supreme head of the Nyingma tradition, Kathok Getse Rinpoche, who passed away this week in Nepal and in respecting the sentiments of the followers of Nyingma tradition, the 13th Religious Conference of the Schools of Tibetan Buddhism and Bon Tradition was being indefinitely postponed.
The department cited that many lamas and representatives of the Nyingma tradition were unable to participate because of Rinpoche’s passing away.
On November 22, the CTA organised a prayer service to mourn the demise of Rinpoche, the 7th supreme head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoche passed away following an accident on November 19 in Pharping, Nepal. He was 64.
Sources say the Dalai Lama is furious with Lobsang Sangay for trying to take credit for his negotiations with China about returning to Tibet.
Sangay claimed that the Dalai Lama has failed for 60 years in negotiations with China, but he has the power and ability to succeed. This is also an indication of how weak the Dalai Lama’s current position is. Sangay knows that the Dalai Lama has been negotiating with China about returning and he’s trying to position himself to take credit for it. Had this happened a few years ago the Dalai Lama would have had him removed, but since his cancer has become terminal, Sangay has been consolidating his position among the exiled community. He controls the press department of the Tibetan government-in-exile and has done so since he ousted Dicki Chhoyang.
For the record, the head of the department, which cancelled the conference, was appointed by Sangay.
By the time the Dalai Lama returned to India the event was cancelled and announcements were issued to the media while he was still in the flight, which would have prevented a confirmation with the Tibetan leader and nothing could have been done to stop it. The reason given for the cancellation was the death of a senior monk.
Sources said that the real reason for the CTA president to keep the Dalai Lama in the dark was because the latter would decide again whether to back the Karmapa as his successor. The Karmapa issue has been a major reason of discord between the Dalai Lama and the CTA president. Sources spoke about a telephonic conversation between the Dalai Lama and Sangay in this regard on November 22 when the former was in Japan.
During this conversation, furious arguments broke out between the two. The Dalai Lama is said to have “shouted” at Sangay, saying that the Karmapa wouldn’t be chosen and that he wouldn’t be dictated terms by anyone. In this conversation, the Dalai Lama used some expletives in Tibetan language which he did not expect Sangay to understand as the CTA president doesn’t know the language. However, a Lobsang aide is said to have translated what the Dalai Lama said.
This marks the most significant power play ever between the different factions within the Tibetan exile leadership. In other words, it’s now an all-out battle between the Dalai Lama and Lobsang Sangay over the future of the exile community, which may worsen in the days to come.

===================================
This interesting article has much food for thought:
1. Dalai Lama is angry and shouting expletives as Lobsang Sangay. Everyone knows the Dalai Lama is in full control. He claims he’s retired from politics but this is just to say what the west wants to hear so he can continue getting funding. It looks good to the west that he voluntarily gave up power and this makes him look progressive. But the Dalai Lama controls everything from behind and if you don’t agree with his decisions, he will be furious. Every Tibetan knows this well.
2. Interesting the article mentions Dalai Lama’s cancer is terminal. Everyone knew this but the Dalai Lama tries to cover this point up. Why? Who knows? What is the problem if people knows he has cancer. Tibetan govt tries to play it down.
3. Dalai Lama is angry as his successor will only be on his terms and no one else may dictate to him the terms as Lobsang Sangay tried to do so since it is not a democracy in practice. As all Tibetans know, the Dalai Lama is the Lama-King and he has full power and no one may contradict him. The face he shows the west (soft, friendly, diplomatic, easy-going, democratic) is all just for the west. The face Dalai Lama shows his Tibetan people (fierce, King, angersome, in charge and must be obeyed) is how it really is. Tibetans know the Dalai Lama controls everything and fully manages all politics. People are not happy with this but dare not speak up as there is no democracy.
Writer Rajeev Sharma is telling the situation like it really is. Finally the truth is coming out. Tibetan government in exile is a regime in every sense of the world that depends on all the hundreds of millions of free dollars it has been taking from the west, Japan, Australia and so on. It exists on free money. It is not a good government and has failed all negotiations with China due to the Tibetan leaders’ arrogance. Why arrogance? They think the world will force China to do what Tibetans leaders want and that they are so important on everyone’s agenda. Tibetans are on no one’s top agenda and China is an economic and military super power. China will not and will never kowtow to the Tibetan demands. It is the Tibetans who must beg China to be friends and get some concessions if at all possible. No country has ever dared stand up to USA, but China has and China is growing in power yearly. Everyone is scrambling to be China’s friend and saying goodbye to the Tibetan cause. Tibetan cause is the thing of the past and no economic benefits to support Tibetan cause.
These days every country votes in leaders that can better their country’s economy due to world recession. So every country has to do business and trade and aid with China to improve their economy. If you side with the Dalai Lama and Tibetan govt in exile in India, what do you get? Nothing! So leaders of every nation realize this now and will continue to make friends with China and say goodbye to the Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama on a personal level may be rich, famous and sells a lot of books, but that won’t get Tibet back. That won’t win the support of leaders of the free world and other nations.

‘Karmapa’ Ogyen Trinley no longer recognised by Indian govt as 17th Karmapa. Indian government is not happy he did not show respect to India for all the years he took refuge in India. He simply renounced his Indian protectorate papers and took a Dominican republic passport. He could have had the courtesy to let Indian government know beforehand and thank them.

Dear Tibetan government-in-exile (Dharamsala),
Sharmapa Rinpoche is the highest authority in the Karma Kagyu after Karmapa. By age-old tradition, Sharmapa is the one that confirms the real incarnation of Karmapa. He recognized Thaye Dorje as the genuine Karmapa. But Dalai Lama endorsed Orgyen Trinley as the real Karmapa. Dalai Lama is a great lama but there has never been a tradition of him recognizing a Karmapa.
Both ‘Karmapas’ have big followings in and out of Tibet. So which one should we follow? We have to follow the genuine Karmapa. If we follow the fake one, we will get fake teachings, fake lineage and no results. We can even take rebirth in the lower realms.
Only the Tibetan leaders can tell us which is the real Karmapa. You have told us which one is the real Panchen Lama. We follow the Panchen of your choosing. Since then we have condemned China and condemned the fake Panchen Lama. Now it is the same situation with Karmapa. We have denounced the fake Karmapa and ask him to step down. He is destroying the Karma Kagyu Lineage.
This issue has torn the Karma Kagyu sect in half. There are many who are so confused and some gave up Tibetan Buddhism altogether because of this. We must solve the confusion. This does not look good for the Tibetan government in exile because the confusion was started by Tibetan government. I support Dalai Lama and Tibetan government. But so many of us need to know the real Karmapa already. Don’t remain silent. Which one is the real Karmapa.
Tibetan government in exile, you have created two Gelugs (Pro-Dorje Shugden and against), you have created two Panchen Rinpoches, two Karmapas, two Dromo Geshe Rinpoches, two Kundeling Rinpoches and so on. When are you going to solve all the confusion. You are destroying Tibetan Buddhism.

The Chinese Panchen Lama is very well respected in China by the Tibetans and the high lamas. These high lamas are attained masters, they will not acknowledge a fake lama and mislead people. If they are paying so much respect to the Chinese Panchen Lama, he must be real.
What the Dalai Lama has said about the Panchen Lama could be possible as well. A highly attained lama is able to control their birth and death, he is also able to emanate into multiple forms simultaneously. Perhaps both Panchen Lamas are real and the previous Panchen Lama emanated into multiple individuals in order to preserve the lineage knowing how the situation would be.
The Chinese Panchen Lama has a very learned tutor. The Chinese government has given him the best Buddhist education and provided what he needs in order for him to perform his spiritual duty. A few years ago, the Panchen Lama gave a Kalachakra initiation to at least 100,000 people in Tibet. If he is fake, he would not be able to give initiation to so many lay people, Sangha and high lamas.

The current Chinese Panchen Lama is definitely a qualified lama because he is very knowledgable and capable. He gave Kalachakra initiation to thousands of people at mass initiation events. Let’s not talk about him being the real Panchen Lama or not. By just looking at his skills, his knowledge of the sutra and tantra, he is not someone ordinary.
He is a qualified lama even if he is not the real Panchen Lama. When a fake lama claimed the throne of high lamas such as Panchen Lama, his life will be shortened dramatically because the merits needed for him to occupy the throne is tremendous. When the life of the imposter is being shortened, the real successor to the throne will have a chance to ascend to the throne quicker and benefit sentient beings.
Since the Chinese Panchen Lama is healthy, strong and strong in his studies, it is not likely that he is the fake Panchen Lama. However, that does not mean the Dalai Lama’s Panchen Lama is fake, it could be another emanation of the previous Panchen Lama. One should not jump to conclusions especially when it comes to holy beings like the Panchen Lama who is believed to be the emanation of Buddha Amitabha.

60 years is long enough to conclude if a cause is successful or it is a failure. After 60 years, the Tibetans are still in exile, there is no progress in the Tibet cause; there is no clear direction from the CTA. It will be very unfair to ask the Tibetans in exile to keep waiting for the day to come and more unfair to India and the west to continue to give support in any kind.
The Dalai Lama’s change of tune is an indirect way to tell the Tibetans and the world that the Tibet cause is a failure. For the future of the Tibetans in exile, it is better to negotiate for autonomous recognition for Tibet than keep fighting with the Chinese government. Tibet is so developed now, there are schools, hospitals, houses, roads, train, airport. It is modernised like the rest of the cities in China. People are given the freedom to practice a religion as long as they don’t mix politic with religion and they abide by the law.
If the Dalai Lama is accepted by China, he could bring the Tibetans in exile back to Tibet and enjoy everything China has developed in Tibet and they will have an identity, not stateless anymore. What can the CTA give to the Tibetans in exile? For the past 60 years, Tibetans in exile are still stateless, the Indians are angry with them because they leech on India, and contribute nothing to Indian’s economy or development.
